I have successfully created an account, but:
- getting SMTP to work is a pain.
- my account got locked quickly for an unknown reason.
I remember it used to be very easy to use, but nowadays, it seems it's not the case any more.
My need was to send notification messages with SMTP to one of my account;
I think I was not asking for too much...
After struggling for almost 2 days, I have switched to something which has worked in 5 minutes (a very famous and big email - and other - services provider).
Ads keep blocking the space where I log in; quite often I can't even access my e-mail, and those reminders to log out are annoying. I will be changing as soon as I find a provider that doesn't want a mobile phone number.
I'm sorry that other people have had trouble with GMX, but it has been the easiest email service I've ever used (and I've used a bunch). The few times I had questions and emailed support, I received a response within 24 hours (or usually less). Their help always solved the problems. I just love everything about it and, believe me, I am usually one of the people who has to say that whatever product everyone else loves has been nothing but a headache for me. I hope the people who have troubles with it give it another chance!
I signed for e-mail account everything is fine until one day your account, "no longer exists", so I sign up again using the same e-mail address as before I get this "account already exists" what the $#*! does it exist or not? $#*! these unreliable bastards in the neck.
My account was blocked and I can't access my email anymore.
Tech support did not give any details and just decided to block me from accessing my account. I did not use this account for anything illegal. It was mostly used for business.
Do yourself a favor and use one of the big email providers like Yahoo or Gmail. It will save you a lot of headaches. This outfit is incompetent and unprofessional.
I found GMX searching Google, looking for reviews on email providers. I have gmail for google play, hate yahoo, have outlook but don't use it ( I don't get all my emails). GMX is totally the great! It has easy tools. You don't need Steve Jobs or computer geek to help you. No Spam! No missed mail! You may like it too!
Two accounts, occasionally used, deleted. "Account does not exist" for the email address. Several services point to these defunct accounts, so will have to be updated. They probably delete accounts without notice if their system thinks you didn't look at enough adverts. This is "gmx.com", the US service. The German service, "gmx.net", has alway been reliable. Avoid gmx.com.
This email service is not at all secure and has major issues with customer service, security and account deletion without cause. Although most seem to be people using it for spamming. Their webmail is not very well designed and is slow. They do give you 10 alias accounts for free.
The lack of PGP or and encryption tools makes it a horrible choice for most. For a simple basic user then it might be alright, but their spam filters are terrible. I loved it being 3 letter domain name but protonmail uses pm.me addresses so it's even shorter. They sell your information and use trackers constantly is also an issue for me.
Overall they could make just a few enhancements and have a decent service but as is I can't really use it except for backup accounts.
Further to my review of yesterday, my email was unblocked today. It would seem that some have been unfortunate enough for this situation to last weeks or months. I am not sure if my calling 1&1 and emailing *******@corp.gmx.com expedited things, but I am glad to say I wasn't one of those people who had to wait for so long. The blocking of my account unfortunately happened on a Friday night and there was no support over the weekend. Perhaps others had theirs unblocked within less time (?). It is difficult to know what's what because most people only review things when there is a problem, yet do not go back to the review site once things are resolved - hence why I am bucking the trend here. Still, I see this blocking as such an inconvenience, and possibly even a risk, that I will indeed close the account anyway.
I can't even registrate my email. It says: " we can't process your registration, please try again later.". No reason for you to use this email provider, there are too many other providers which are way better than this one like: Gmail absolutely, yahoo, and aol.
This does not have email that is compatible for all internet browsers, has biased staff blocking users for illogical reasons, the interface looks outdated, and it makes a joke out of itself that I cannot take it seriously. So, I would recommend business professionals to stay away from this unreliability called GMX.com. The security and unlimited storage GMX's representers want to point out are not going to be used by potential users if bullies want to kick people out for no good reason. Also, when I try to check my email the emails I get have the word forbidden in them. I feel like I am in a religiously influenced government when GMX won't even let me read what is sent to me. Funny... I can't give this a zero out of 5 for the review.
Theirs so called "security team" terrorizes legal loyal users. I receive spam and fishing message regularly, and theirs "security team" can do nothing. However, they block your email some times per months without even explanation the reason. I loss incoming business mail regularly because of them, so I switched to gmail. Don't work with these incompetent guys.
Awful, horrible site. Blocked my account for no reason. Thankfully that was just my spare account I used to register on forums and similar social media platforms. I'd never ever register on that site again even if they tried to pay me. Would give 0 stars if it was possible
While there are some redeeming features to GMX I am now experiencing for the second time lack of access to my account. This happened several months ago. The technical support is extremely incompetent and practically non existent. Eventully I did resume getting emails. Then I got a notice that the company was being sold. At first review of the terms and conditions I was a little uncomfortable, but thought I would take the month before the deadline to make a decision. As of August 1 I have been unable to access my account without accepting the terms and conditions. I have made about ten requests for technical support. All but one resulted in automatic replies. The one that did reply apparently did not read what I wrote because they advised me to accept the terms and conditions. I really would like to look at my email one more time before making a decision. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Too many steps to log on, e.g., who wants to be NAGGED about failing to log out every time when you log back on. I stopped using it after the first few weeks. The ONLY advantage, and the reason it was initially appealing, was the fact it did not require a cell phone for registration.
I am truly thinking of changing this email provider. So many restrictions, so-called security that stops you to do your work, a lot of advertisement in your email page, asks your password and email address all the time, and even if you give it, it doesn't work. Additionally, I grouped my conversations for the same sender, and now I can't break the thread! The only two features I like are: the feature of sending a read confirmation request and the priority feature where you can mention the urgency of the email.
I have a bunch of accounts there, since I game and want different accounts for different games or sometimes several accounts on the same game. Also it helps me be anonymous on the web since it's harder to track you when you spray yourself all over the web using different email accounts. I use Tbird to roll them all up and GMX works great with Tbird. And I use GMX with the web too. Very nice clean interface. And unlike Google, they support multiple accounts very nicely via web or clients like Tbird.
They have drive services too, but I've not used those much. But some. They work fine.
Give 'em a try. "Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with GMX in any way. Just a happy user."
Tried to set up like many after first log in account block for suspicious activity!
Never had any similar issues with gmail and messenger in 30 years...
Do not trust your precious emails to whoever is behind this set up
Avoid...
They do not respond to help emails to add to your woes.
The only thing suspicious is Themselves!
Blocked my account for no reason, can't get help, their help service sends a link to a page which redirect to the back to the page you've just visited you go round in a circle. After 24 hours, received an email giving me the same re-directing link! Totally incompetent.
I find it surprising that so many people have problems with GMX. For some reason my regular email client suddenly refused to accept email from a friend I've been talking to for over 20 years. He has had GMX for years and suggested I try that. I've been using it for several months and I have absolutely no problems with it, no Spam, nothing. Attachments come and go fine. I usually just use it for him and my regular email client for everyone else but occasionally use GMX for others and they've never reported a problem either.
GMX has a rating of 1.4 stars from 202 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with GMX most frequently mention email account, customer service and irregular activity. GMX ranks 150th among Email sites.
