I see that I'm not the only one they've blocked for no reason. I think my mistake was when I forwarded an email to three whole addresses while reporting a phishing incident. The form shown in the picture does not work. My emails to their support team have had no effect thus far, so I'm forced to change the email address associated with important accounts to make sure that I don't miss important messages. My pen pal will be sad to never receive a reply. GMX is excrement for this.

Unresponsive support

They have blocked me from my email. I have sent many many inquiries for assistance in getting it where I can login again... this has been going on for 3 months or more. How do you get a response from their so called "direct support"?

Fails to look into allegations of phishing

I am receiving phishing emails from users at their service via GMX.net. I informed them through their contact form but their English-language people insist that, because it's from their German-language service, I must use a German-language "kontaktformular" instead. I'm unsure why the first people who work for GMX won't forward my complaint to any other people who work for GMX but rather demand that I do their work for them, but OK I guess I'm the victim so I have to do the legwork. Then the Germans unloaded several pages of German-language technicalities on me and eventually told me (I think? It's in German) to contact English-speaking people for help. A says, please talk to B -- B says, sprechen Sie bitte mit A. Full circle run-around. (Funny thing is, I do speak a little German.) I'm not taking any more time with this slippery organization. They deliberately encourage phishing, IMO.

GMX apparently blocked my e-mail account for "irregularities", and will do nothing to unblock it. Customer service is unresponsive, no assistance, no explanation. Lesson learned: Do not ever use GMX, avoid at all costs.

When using the account with Trust. Zone, my account keeps getting locked sooner or later. Which means I can't send emails until I log into the web interface to change my password.

This was not the case up until a few months ago and also hasn't happened with any other email provider.

I'm new to GMX and so far, so good. I chose it as it was recommended by a reputable reviewer on the net as a simple, no-frills service, coming in 4th after gmail, yahoo, fire fox. This is just what I wanted for a secondary address to be used for specific purposes. I'm surprised by the number of negative reviews. The good thing is that it is free and you can opt out at any time if not completely satisfied.

Horrible suport
August 4, 2016

For no reason my gmx said invalid password. I did not change it. I tried to change it myself but it would not accept answers to security questions that I obviously new answers. I have sent over 10 emails from my sbc account for help and got one response telling me where the sign in button is located. I use this account for business purposes so even though I now have a gmail now I can not recover all my contacts including those I am in the middle of doing business with. I can not understand why they can't or won't help me out.

Have had this service for about a year and everything was fine. Suddenly on Monday I am blocked (today is Thursday). Took 4 days for them to tell me that security blocked me but no clue why. No one can tell me when or if I will get access again. I can't even call anyone to try and fix. Very frustrating.

For a few days I was excited! Worked like a charm. Now, down for days and they just tell you to update your computer with flashes, java, etc. It worked fine before! Then once in awhile it appears, only to be gone in a FLASH! What is the deal? You get a new customer, don't you care to keep them happy? Guess I will be out looking for another web mail. I think that they just don't want to admit on their facebook or elsewhere that they are DOWN A-G-A-I-N! Isn't honesty the best policy to keep customers?

One thing you might notice when reading all of the negative reviews is that the negative reviewers have only one or two reviews compared to the positives which have 100's. Enough said.

This service I have been using now for a few months using POP mail with mozilla thunderbird and it is fantastic. I write e-mails and they send. I receive emails and get a notification in my system tray. I love this company and I love this email. GMX 4 LIFE!

Ps: I've never had my email hacked by china. (gmail)

Account blocked

So I opened two accounts, one for my mom, and later, one for myself.
My mom's account had no problems for about a year, then one day, 1200 spam messages, all in english and my mom doesn't speak english, never sent a mail in that language, never gave her address to people who spoke it either.
My account had worse luck, I got locked out after a couple of days due to "suspicious activity", contacted support, they said the account would remain blocked.
I had linked my social media accounts to that one, it was a nightmare switching everything elsewhere again.

Awful company. 'support' stinks. Block access to account for no reason. Won't explain why - 'security',. In reality there is no risk, they just block it. Getting them to unlock it shows their incompetence, you go round and round in circles because they don't read your emails.

Avoid like the plaque

This freaking gmx guys blocked my account after 1 week of opening.
Reason "We have forwarded your request to unblock your account to our security department and it was determined that the account in question will remain blocked."

Never open a gmx account! You've been warned

Avoid at all costs

Gmx used to be very good. They were sold and their quality has deteriorated greatly.
Yesterday they blocked my account without notice (apparently this is not uncommon).
I contacted them and this was their response:
"We have forwarded your request to unblock your account to our security department and it was determined that the account in question will remain blocked.
Please note that this is a decision made by our abuse department and we do not have further information we can provide to you."

Dodgy reply, from a dodgy company

There was nothing at all wrong with how the address was used, it was not used for spam, anything illegal, or anything that anyone at all would consider immoral.

GMX is the most unreliable email service available. Should you choose this cesspool of an email service, rest assured that once they acquire your personal information, your email account will be locked without cause. This has been the case with literally thousands of users. Avoid it at all costs.

Along with others, I had my gmx email account blocked for no reason. Then they reinstated but only after they had deleted ALL my mail. When asked to restore it (very patiently and I asked them many times over a period of a month) they tell me they do not know how.

Avoid this company at all costs.

I shall be posting this on facebook to let others know just how incompetent they are.

Banned me today for no reason. Seems their 'security' people have decided I have 'abused' the system. No explanation, no warning (about what?), no chance to recover pending messages, no chance to delete person information from existing mails. I do not operate a mailing list, I do not mail anyone who has not contacted me. I have used the service without a problem for several years. But today, out of the blue, no email. Beware, they can do it to you and it seems they do not have to provide a reason or proof. I am surprised that this is even legal in the UK/Europe. Please be warned. You cannot trust these people.

I love them. No problems, my problems were with Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook Express.
People, family ask me who they are and I can't really say because I don't know what GMX
Stand for. But my service from them has been 100%. I'm so glad that I changed. Surprised
To see that they don't have a higher rating, they need to be on the top with the "big boys."

They deleted all my mails without any warning. I found myself unable to retrieve all my online purchases and receipts from various online services, included all my licenses software and even more my steam account.
In repeated occasions they gone out of service leaving me in trouble trusting them. So i moved to another service more reliable leaving my mail with gmx just for licenses and purchases. I would have never expected that they was capable of doing worst then that
Customer service stopped to answer me when i started to do difficult questions to them. So they knows they are wrong:)
After all i advise to use gmx services just for temporary mails avoiding to manage important data because they could get lost very easily and even if asked politely many times arising the importance of the matter, customers service it will refuse to just resurrect your account. I am leaving them forever :)
