Having tried several times to create a new GMX email account, and not getting anywhere as far as help from customer support, I give up. When entering my birthdate in the sign-up screen, in the proper format, I get an error message "minimum age must be 16 yrs old". I'm a grandmother, for pete's sake! After reading of all the issues with them, maybe it's a good thing I can't sign up. I would hate to be blocked from retrieving my email for no reason. I think I'll look elsewhere.
Like so many others, I opened an account and used it for less than 30 mins before taking a break and coming back to find my account 'blocked for irregular activity'. Contacted their tech support but no response other than an automated email that I was instructed to read carefully. It contained no useful info whatsoever.
I can't imagine how gmx is still in business, avoid the frustration and go with anyone else..
My account was blocked, and gmx refused to give a reason why. It takes many days/weeks to get a response or any help from them at all. This would be the very last email company I`d use and would suggest people steer clear.
I have no idea what in the f*** the other $#*! here are complaining about. This is fine service. You can get up to 8 email aliases with one account. It's great for setting up a discrete account.
I would guess the complainers screwed things up through their own incompetence and bungling.
Until yesterday would have given 5* have recommended loads of times but suddenly got the blocked message with the usual sod off when asked why, lost several important contacts and emails without any hope it seems of getting them back. Use with care and definitely not for anything important :(
Just blocked me for 'irregular activity'! I only use the thing to email 2 people, both of whom are close relatives. And I've just realised the reason could mean either I don't use it enough or my account is under some sort of threat. If it's the former then they can shove their account...
I love GMX mail, however they have a stupid quirk about logging you out after a few minutes for so called "security" reasons. After logging back in, you're greeted with an obnoxious message that basically says,"you didn't log out properly". I've never had this with any other e-mail and I think it's ridiculous and unnecessary. Once I was logged out just as I was selecting my contacts.
I will give them 3 stars simply because they have a connected similar service, called Mail.com that is my primary Email now for then past 4 years, but they seem to have a bad reputation with some web entities, for apparently being used often for fraudulent misuse...
It seems that in some rarer cases, you will not be allowed to use an Email address that is from GMX / Mail.com to setup a new account with them.
So, be careful if you decide to make this your main Email service provider, it seems they are abused by scam artists / misanthropes online too often!
Account blocked. I will keep bombarding their "contact us" feature, although I doubt any living person is actually reading them. When account is blocked by THEM, they should provide explanation as well as a method that we users can retrieve our email contacts, prior messages, and folder contents. Then we can go to another email provider.
I liked GMX because it was a short name being just three letters.
While the service is mostly reliable I must list the following downfalls:
1) When you log in you have to press an additional button to go to your inbox, which is unnecessary.
2) If you email anyone who has no emailed you first, there is about a 90% chance your email will go to the spam folder.
3) GMX may block you from accessing your own account. I received the following message when I signed in: "Dear GMX member, our system has detected irregular activity related to your account. As a precautionary measure, we have blocked your account." After contacting customer service and 24 hours having passed I received no remedy, and based on the reviews of others who experienced the same I probably never will, but will edit this if I ever do.
I cannot recommend this service if for the above issue alone. I cannot even access important emails that are now stuck in my blocked account.
I have used this email account for years and have never had any problems
I like the ‘save' option while writing an email
Prevents losing what you wrote before hitting send
Puts it safely into the draft folder
If you somehow accidentally delete it
I have been using GMX email for several years to run a support group. Mostly it worked fine but there were problems on the way such as drafts getting garbled. Now they have blocked my account for no explained reason. All enquiries are met with a plain refusal to explain themselves. So I am left unable to manage communications to my group. I presume this can happen at any time with them so don't build anything on GMX they is serious and needed on a day to day basis. In fact just avoid them and go elsewhere which is what I have to do.
A big 0 stars for this messed up site. Three times I've signed up, done all the required security questions, etc. And written down my customer#, password and so on, no oversight on my part; and 3 times I've been stopped signing in by a prompt that comes up, "our system has detected irregular activity related to your account. As a precautionary measure we have blocked your account. To regain access, please contact our Customer support."
After requiring the security question and answer, I'd think they could just ask me my security question! This site sucks!
Email account locked, never had this before? Just try to get all my contacts over to gmx... now this. I'm not using there website for checking etc mainly mac mail and iPhone. I guess no exposure to advertising... not worth having customer!?
Opened an account a few weeks ago... logged on today (7 July) to see it had been blocked due to "irregular activity",
Filed a ticket and within seconds got an automated reply saying "We have detected abuse and have blocked your account",
Replying to them and asking them to expand on this "abuse" got no response and contacting them via their website got me "You've already filed a ticket which has been closed as resolved and so this will be closed too" (This was anything BUT resolved!),
In short an absolutely awful service - don't bother wasting your time registering!, Use the more well known providers instead!.
I personally really enjoy my gmx account. No annoying sponsored links knowing someone "read my mail!" it takes a little getting used to, but it has a great mail organizer that lets you read all your mail in one place, yet keeps it filed by address.
Every time I check my inbox I have multiple fake job offers from con artist and scammers emailing me. I don't know how the hell these losers are getting my email. I have contacted GMX customer service several times to resolve this annoying issue but they have never been professional enough to rectify the situation. It's almost like they're condoning the behavior of the pathetic a!# holes that target innocent people to try to phish for information. I absolutely have no respect for GMX or they're faithful scammers and con artist they call customers. F all of them
This company is the lowest of the low. I've lost all my emails from two accounts because they arbitrarily decided to shut them down for no given reason besides "The GMX account you are trying to access is currently in the process of being deleted". What an awful, awful email service. I advise anyone to never use this company and sincerely hope they go out of business.
I see that I'm not the only one they've blocked for no reason. I think my mistake was when I forwarded an email to three whole addresses while reporting a phishing incident. The form shown in the picture does not work. My emails to their support team have had no effect thus far, so I'm forced to change the email address associated with important accounts to make sure that I don't miss important messages. My pen pal will be sad to never receive a reply. GMX is excrement for this.
They have blocked me from my email. I have sent many many inquiries for assistance in getting it where I can login again... this has been going on for 3 months or more. How do you get a response from their so called "direct support"?
GMX has a rating of 1.4 stars from 202 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with GMX most frequently mention email account, customer service and irregular activity. GMX ranks 150th among Email sites.
