We purchased a gas range from Home Depot in March 2019. The main reason we picked this model [JCGB8700DEJ4WW] is it came with a griddle as a center burner. It was advertised as a Non-Stick surface which is exactly what we wanted. The range itself works great but we have not used the self-cleaning option yet, don't bake a lot. However, the griddle is NOT Non-Stick. I don't know how GE can state that? When I contacted them, they sent emailed me the manual on what to do when you get your range... wash the Griddle with warm soapy water & dry.! This does not/did not make the Griddle Non-Stick! They sent the manual to me 2-3 times. I even got one to tell me how to remove rust from the Griddle - it's aluminum!
I received a second Griddle, the original one had a chip in the coating, I thought that it was defective and the new one would be a Non-Stick surface. That did not happen. I don't think GE designed the Griddle on purpose not to be Non-Stick, but it is not! The manual states not to use oils or sprays on it as it may discolor the Griddle. I have and it doesn't and bacon doesn't cause it to discolor and I don't know of any food that creates more oil/grease than bacon.
It is now months later - no response from GE. The Non Stick coating that is on the Griddle is now flaking off. Not sure what to do. I am pretty sure that the black coating is not edible and if I scrape off all of the flaking, I will have an aluminum surface instead of a black surface. However, one might wonder if it will work any worse than the " non-stick" surface?

Repair nightmare
March 31, 2017

GE scheduled a repair man to come to.my home Tom repair my washer. When the repair man came, I complained of my washer filling up with with water but not washing. He told me the problem was a hose! After insisting that the hose couldn't be the problem, he assured me that it was and left my home. I immediately went out and bought new hoses and changed them. OF COURSE WHAT HE SAID WASN'T TRUE AND CHANGING THE HOSE DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I called and scheduled another appointment, only to find out that the technician rescheduled the appointment without my knowledge

Stay away from GE
March 29, 2023

My washing machine has been a complete waste of money since day 1. I have had it for 2 years. GE gave me one year extended warranty because of all the problems I've had with it. It is still not fixed. They will "replace" the washing machine but I have to pay almost $400 to do this. I've had the repair company out 9 times. They stated it is unrepairable. This machine has cost me so much money due to the fact that each time the repair company comes out I have to take a day off work. Each time the machine doesn't spin, I have to drag soaking wet clothes to a laundromat to finish washing. I have to constantly clean the floor due to the fact that it leaks laundry soap, even though the door seal and detergent drawer have been replaced. I am buying laundry soap frequently due to the fact it leaks. Whenever I call their warranty department I have to spend an hour on hold before the call in answered. Just in the last couple of months I have spent over 8 hours on the phone, including on hold, with them. So frustrated.

GE down hill
April 1, 2020

My wife and I bought 5 kitchen GE Profile appliances almost 2 years ago. Very unhappy! Day one the frig was delivered the blue shipping plastic will not come off. The plastic was put on the door panels and then the handles were installed and the doors assy over the top of plastic. Plastic would not pull out from under the handles or out the areas were it was assembled together. Looks like crap! At 11 months the door on the ice dispenser stopped working so we called GE for repair of the door and the plastic. GE contracted a vendor for the repair and the tech was good but the company was horrible. Tech said he could not fix the plastic because it was "cosmetic" even thought it was a manufacturing problem. Broken wire on the door. Not sure how because there is no access to the door motor.
Within a couple months the LED display on the dishwasher stopped showing any text. It will light-up but there is no text. Several months ago the dishwasher started beeping 3 times about every minute with the door closed and the dishwasher not in use. When it is having this problem the dishwasher will not start. When the start button is pushed the dishwasher just beeps. Nothing in manual about 3 beeps and only says "a beep every minute" for the door open reminder. The door is closed and I have done every reset procedure in the manual. GE web no help and I did not see a way to email for help. GE is s...

I Purchased a 50 gallon GE Geopspring water heate to replace an electric water heater. The Lowes web site claims that this product can be installed in a closet or even an attic. I had the water heater professionally installed in the same closet as the original heater. In approximately 7 months the water heater began to signal a fault. Per the user manual I checked the filter, which was not dirty but I cleaned anyway, and pushed the reset. Failing to correct the problem I contacted GE. GE service said they would mail me new parts at no charge but the service call would be a $90. When the technician arrived he said the unit didn't need the parts but it did need more air circulation. I opened the window in the door and he reset the unit. 4 months later another fault and this time GE said the unit needed to be installed in a minimum of a 10 ft by 10 ft room and not a closet. When I mentioned the Lowes website they pointed to the manual ands said the installer should not have installed it. The assistant store manager at Lowes Clearwater said he has a 10 ft by 10 ft closet so the web site is correct and it is now past 1 year so he can not help. Run don't walk from GE products!

GE Customer Service
June 16, 2020

We built a new home in 8/19. Much to our dismay, the builder only offered GE appliances. We had a bad experience with a GE appliance in the past so we went with the most expensive offered, the Profile series. Nine months into our new home, the microwave push button to open the door broke (with food stuck inside). I was only able to schedule an appointment through an automated system. Days later, repairman breaks door trying to get food out. Parts were ordered and new date was set for one week later. Day before that appointment, I got a call canceling my appointment due to the part being on backorder. The entire call took 57 minutes. New appointment was set for an additional week. Again, appointment canceled and part was ordered from third party. Third appointment was a repeat yet again (but without a call and with repairman showing up). The rep did say she would send $70 for us to buy a small microwave while waiting. We are now at three weeks without our microwave being fixed and I have spent HOURS on hold trying to get to a resolution. Last representative asked why I even made an appointment if I didn't have the parts. What! They have scheduled the appointments. I asked to talk to a supervisor but then was told it would be 24-48 hours before someone could call me back. The rep said this is the timeframe they "quote" for a callback but she didn't know when anyone would actually call. No idea how much longer we will have to wait-it seems we are at their mercy. When buying new appliances in the future, we will ask who services their warranty! Either way, we will never buy GE appliances again.

GE's process really is broken. I have to change my password every time I access my account. It takes ages for the email to come through. All I needed to do was reschedule my appointment from morning to afternoon. Waited 30 minutes for the email that would allow me to change my password to access my account to do this online (still waiting), so I called instead. The automated assistant listed the options available, then wouldn't process "change appointment". I inadvertently said yes to something that got my appointment moved to another date. Went through the whole rigamarole again, only to finally be offered the chance to speak to a human. Which, I was informed, will be another 30 minute wait. Fingers crossed the call back option even works.

This is on the heels of the initial problem of missing two phone calls on the day of the appointment and my original appointment being cancelled. I did receive a text and responded to that. The problem is, I didn't realize I'd missed the calls and there was no notification the appointment had been cancelled. I kept checking the technician's status, and the window kept getting moved later and later. I called the next day and was basically told it was my fault for missing the calls. The second customer service agent I spoke to, because the one who rescheduled my appointment said complaints were fielded at a different number...!...said in her four years with the company had never heard of a text messaging system, so she couldn't help me there. Turns out, she couldn't really help me with anything. I guess GE is happy to let their customers be unsatisfied. BTW, this repair is a repeat issue. The first time, the technician said we would never have the problem again.

I will likely never use this service again. I'm annoyed that the issue reoccurred, I'm frustrated that accessing my account is such a challenge, I'm mad that the day-of service communication wasn't better, and I'm furious that it takes so long to reach an actual human to do the simplest thing. Save yourself the hassel and buy a different brand.

GE Profile Dishwasher
September 1, 2021

We purchased a complete package of the GE Profile series in 2017. I must admit other that other than the Dishwasher I am satisfied with the product. However, I have a GE Dishwasher that has truly never cleaned that well I did call the Customer Service line and they informed me to use LemiShine to keep the product clean on the interior. That worked. Dishes still were never clean. I always took the majority of the residue off the plates, etc prior to washing and ran the hot water prior to turning the unit on. All well and good, this weekend the unit would not respond possibly needed a reset which I had previously encountered. No luck still no power to the unit. Did a bit of research and determined it was most likely the door switch. Further research showed me this was a common occurrence with this model. Called a repairman who checked it out and determined that both computer and switch were bad and the repair cost would be $550. I will looking for an another dishwasher in the next few days. A four year old product with that history shouldn't be allowed on the market. My Model # GDT655SMJ0ES Ser# RG*******B

DON'T BUY
September 22, 2021

BUYER BEWARE! Just because you buy something NEW doesn't mean NO STRESS and NO HASSLE! Something I think anyone could expect. Read the fine lines of the company you are buying from (in this case a GE appliance from ABC Warehouse). ABC Warehouse will not return, replace or issue you a refund after 48 hours. Most of the time it takes at least that long to realize you have a real problem. So now kicks in the manufactures warranty (GE Electronics). They don't honor the idea that when you purchase a new (in good working condition) product that it is just that. NO, they will fix it for you, but it doesn't matter how long it takes (few weeks, months….) and when their repair person doesn't show that doesn't matter neither. You might get an "I'm sorry", (I didn't even get that, all though it probably would have pissed me off even more). So bottom line if your think you are buying something new so you think NO Hassle, NO Repairs. THINK AGAIN! It has now been 22 days since I purchased a GE electronics appliance from ABC Warehouse, (Shelby Twp, MI). It has been returned to the store, abused (dragged) by their sales manager, no refund, no exchange, no help. So those helpful sales people who make you think they are there for the best interest of the customer. Think again, that only applies while they are trying to make a sale. After that they don't know you. I have contacted all levels of both companies and NOTHING. Just basically F----U. Don't Buy GE Appliances and Don't Buy from ABC Warehouse.

Our GE dishwasher is pretty nice when it works. This review also reflects how GE does not stand behind their products, or value their customers or their customer's time.
I purchased and had a new dishwasher installed in October of 2016 and it worked fine until January. Since January we have had a GE repairman out:
Feb. 01, they reset it
Feb. 07, they reset it again
Feb. 21, was a no call/no show so I had to call to find out they had not ordered the part yet
Feb. 23, they came out and replaced the main board
Mar. 15, they came out, called an engineer and then left without it being repaired, ordered parts and scheduled another appointment for Mar. 18
Mar. 18, was scheduled to be a morning appointment, received a call at 10:21 AM that the tech was on their way. At 12:30 PM I had to call GE and ask for a manager while they hunted down the tech. Around 1:00 PM they came out and replaced the heater and bolts that hold the heater in place
Mar. 30, scheduled an install of the new dishwasher
I have had to take SIX days off work/or PTO (which I assure you waiting on a repairman is no way to spend a vacation).
GE took the bare minimum steps to remedy the situation as replacing their defective unit. They took no steps to address the fact that they caused me to use PTO or take off from work SIX times (and wasted half of one of my days off) in just two months for the same appliance to be repaired. Of those SIX days one was a no call/no show and another day on a weekend of which I had to call to have their supervisors track down the repair technician. Their only step they took was to offer of an additional year of warranty that I could also purchase myself for $33. I find this repulsive and it shows a complete lack of respect for customers and shows that they don't value a customers time. This also does not take into account that the installation of the new dishwasher is different than the original as in now we cannot reach the control buttons on the top now to start the machine and need to use a utensil to start the machine (see attached photo).
Avoid GE products as they do not appreciate or respect their customers. There are other brands that make Slate colored appliances that deserve your business.

Anti-Customer Service
September 1, 2021

The worst decision I've made this year was to buy a GE refrigerator. I spent over 3K on a top of the line refrigerator that broke within the first month. It took weeks to get anyone to look at it, longer to get GE to agree to replace it, as it was a lemon, and it still hasn't been replaced. Five (5) weeks and counting without a refrigerator. Everyone along the way is sorry, sorry the wait on the phone for customer service is 3 to 4 hours long, sorry your refrigerator broke, sorry we can't get anyone to look at your broken appliance for 2 weeks, sorry we can't it replaced for two more weeks... When it was finally agreed to replace the lemon I was told the third party delivery, Forward Final Mile, would contact me, and should get it to me in a week. Forward did not contact me, I contacted them, it was more like 2 weeks then today, when it was supposed to be delivered, I was told they couldn't deliver because of police in my town not letting them stop. Forward Final Mile didn't knock on the door or call from the truck and really, you can't deliver to my house, how did the first refrigerator get delivered? By the way when I looked up Forward Final Mile I found they have an F rating with the BBB. Of course GE hires the F rated company then tells me they have no control over their third party vendors. This whole farce has gone on for far too long.

Stay away from GE products not only for the product to not perform but for the worst customer service as well when you have a problem. I bought a brand new home in April and my washing machine stopped working 1 week after moving in. Repair man told me it needed a new panel which burned out. After 6 weeks waiting for part and install the new part was finally installed and the machine STILL DID NOT WORK!. # more weeks go by for me waiting for GE to make a decision if they were going to replace. YES,, now 2 mos without ability to do laundry in my BRAND NEW HOME! New machine comes mid JUne only to now sound like a 1920's sewing machine. Repair man comes back and CANT fix and now today(JULY 18 2022) GE's response to me is the following,,, me the consumer needs to find a repair man because they cant fix my machine and they will reimburse me! What? The burden is now on me? If something else goes wrong i will be giving GE and opprtunity to blame someone else that i hired so they dont have to fix or replace the unit? In summery,,, first machine replaced after 2 mos and new machine is not working properly and GE wants me to fix! Customer service and product to worst!

I HAVE ALWAYS PURCHASED GE PRODUCTS AS I FEEL THEY ARE WELL MADE, HAVE A GOOD WARRANTY AND ARE IN THE AVERAGE PRICE RANGE. HOWEVER, LIKE ALL BUSINESSES THAT PROVIDE APPLIANCES FOR CONSUMERS GE FINALLY WENT OVER TO THE DARK SIDE. MY 'NEW' GE GLASS COOK TOP STOVE IS A SHAME. ONLY TWO YEARS OLD, THE LARGE FRONT RIGHT BURNER IS BADLY SCRATCHED FROM POT USE (KIND OF WHAT THE APPLIANCE WAS PURCHASED FOR) AND THERE IS A WHITE CLOUD THAT RINGS THE BURNER THAT WILL NOT COME OUT NO MATTER THAT I CLEAN IT BI-WEEKLY WITH BAR HELPER AND SOFT SCRUB WITH THE RECOMMENDED PAD. IT LOOKS UNSIGHTLY AND I FEEL THE SCRATCHES ARE GOING TO CAUSE A CRACK IN THE GLASS. SHAME ON GE. I CALLED THEIR SERVICE CENTER TWICE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN OR WILL DO. THEY ADMITTED THAT THE SURFACE IRREGULARITIES ARE NOT NORMAL BUT WOULD TAKE NO ACTION TO SATISFY THEIR CUSTOMER; THEY NATURALLY ASSUME WE'RE THE CAUSE, NOT THEIR INFERIOR PRODUCT. AND A NEW GLASS TOP? $350 PLUS SHIPPING. SINCE THE GLASS TOP IS THE REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS MODEL, I CAN NOT SAY ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT IT. I WILL REFRAIN FROM PURCHASING ANY GE PRODUCTS FROM HERE ON OUT; I COULD HAVE BOUGHT A FRIGIDAIRE FOR MUCH LESS.
