I put an order today and wanted to change my method of payment but the website wouldn't take it on the phone or the computer and no one in the office, the five people I spoke to, could help me including Troy who was a mean and nasty person, I did the very best thing by canceling their service. I do not recommend their service, there's always something wrong with the orders I receive.
Their service, products, and general reliability used to be top notch. I was a loyal weekly customer since 2013 but have recently made the switch to Amazon Fresh/ Wholefoods and oh what a difference! I made this switch after multiple late deliveries, deliveries that never showed up, terrible responses from customer service, broken and damaged products upon delivery, and on and on... I was a huge fan of FD and would have loved to stay with them but I simply don't have the time, nor the energy to deal with what may be a company that expanded but lost sight of its core principles for serving it's customers.
If they don't deliver to my zip code, they should have said so when I registered an account instead of waiting until I placed an order after spending about an hour compiling my order.
About 4 weeks ago my bags smelled like marijuana from my delivery driver who (Philadelphia office)

They charge you more after the products are delivered without notifying you at checkout. They don't take returns on their products and they don't help.
Received a fraud alert from my bank yesterday. Fresh Direct sent a 0.00 charge to my card to see if it would go through and was active. Luckily my bank doesnt put up with this stuff. Wonder if there were going to be more fraudulent charges down the road? Not now cuz that card is canceled. Wonder how they got the number cuz I had never used them and now for sure I never will.
One of the Managers for Shipping Department hate Blacks, to the point of showing favoritism to workers of his ethnicity. Only Blacks he pressured to work. His kind stand around and doesn't do much. Hard workers doesn't get recognized or treated with respect. Worse company to work.
I've been a Fresh Direct customer from its beginnings. While the company has experienced some hiccups along the way (as most any company does), I have to give them very high marks across the boardfor range of products, ease in shopping, delivery efficiency, and customer service when I have a problem. The website is easy to navigate and I can shop weekly in 10 minutes or so. What a timesaver! They have always been quick to credit me when I get a product that is damaged or subpar (which is rare). And they have good sales and deals and even freebies. Fresh Direct has long been and will continue to be my go-to market as long as they are around. Thanks!
Wow, I tried yet again to place an order and this time the website froze and crashed. They simply do not have the capacity to be a business anyone can patronize. Last straw and last time I try to use them. No idea whose running the company but they're absolutely clueless! Bye Felicia!

I get a "come back" offer in the mail, $50 off an order of $99 or more for the account holder at my address (which is obviously me). So, I spend about 15 minutes shopping only to find out the code won't work.

Original review: Let's look at this from a business perspective, if you can't deliver to me in a timely manner (or at all), you clearly don't have your stuff together and you don't deserve my business, and this is where they consistently fall short compared to the competition.
They used to be my go to grocery delivery service until there have been zero delivery dates are available, and you find this out after you load up your cart and waste time.
For instance I filled my cart today for Thanksgiving preparation, go to select delivery dates and... nothing. But, I go to Amazon Fresh and boom, same day delivery (and saved $20 on the same order minus the breadcrumbs). Whole Foods? Same thing, I always get same day or next day delivery, even during the height of the toilet paper phase of the pandemic.
Fresh Direct needs better leadership and it could be awesome!
The good: excellent selection, fairly reliable delivery, good customer service and replacement or credit. The not-so-good: website is a little clunky, and one slip can erase all your selections!
No time-slots available forever. Page showing error or soldout. Freshdirect should give out better error message. The present way is frustrating. Just don't give option to shop then.
This is a warning about Fresh Direct s price practices that will result in your grocery bill changing to higher prices without your knowledge.
Every Thursday the President's Picks are changed. In the morning, the top of the page banner lists the new time period that the sale prices will be valid. The fact is that date will not apply to the President's Picks items listed. While the top of the page says the prices will be good for a week, the items will actually return to regular retail around 7 PM that day. Fresh Direct will then raise the price of these items in your cart and charge that higher price to your card once the order modification period is over.
Be very careful on Thursdays because this is a scheme in place to trick customers. I was told by Customer Service that even though the sale dates on the page are misleading actually inaccurate, that Fresh Direct will continue to change the dates and leave the old items there. It is up to customers to figure out that the dates at the top of the page has nothing to do with the items displayed. If you want to avoid the prices changing and see what is really on sale, you will need to shop after 7 PM on Thursdays since even though they change the dates in the morning, Fresh Direct does not change the items until 7 PM.
Above all, be sure to check your item prices before the order modification time period expires
Ordered first time and it was late delivery and half of my order was missing. The bags came full of dirty I need to clean my floor.
I ordered fresh veggies and Ham! OMG soooo delicious and fresh foods. They gave me a gift of 2 boxes of organic figs.The best figs I've ever tested in this country! Out of this world
I have used FreshDirect probably 20 times over the last few months. Most of those times were because I was unable to shop for myself, such as now, with torn knee cartilage. Sometimes I just liked the idea of the convenience. But with at least 18 out of the 20 orders, one or more things in each carton was spoiled, left out of the order, damaged, the wrong product, and with other problems. It has gotten worse and worse; I don't want their damn credits, I want my damn food. Today's order was an abomination, and I will just have to hobble to the store or order takeout so I have something to eat. Their trucks were obviously malfunctioning because all the perishables arrived warm--the pound of cheese, pound of turkey, and sour cream. The "frozen waffles" arrived completely defrosted (soft, damp, white, floppy). I emailed them photos. I demanded that they bring me another box. A second box arrived, as thawed-out as the first. I had to throw them all out. As if they'd never seen the inside of a freezer. Plus they sent the wrong cheese anyway. They left out the tuna fish. The previous week I threw up after eating their fish cubes. The nectarines were rotted-out. Bananas were brown mush at one end. I could go on and on and on. It's a travesty. There's gotta be a state agency or something that goes after companies that don't do what they claim they do, and they collect $6 on deliveries whether the delivery is a disaster or not. I think FreshDirect is a fraudulent company that should be exposed.
GOT ONE WHO TRIED TO SURF NEXT TO MY CAR ALMOST HITTING MY CAR, I STOPPED HIM AND ASKED HIM WHAT IS HIS PROBLEM, THE DUDE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN DRUNK OR SOMETHING, DIDN'T APOLOGIZE BUT IF HE WOULD HAVE HIT MY CAR, ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE. The chicken in Blake's Chicken Pie does not taste like chicken. It is very hard and chewy and gross and is cut in very miniscule pieces. Should not have passed inspection for sales.
I use to order from FD all the time over the last 7 years; it was convenient, reliable and the food quality generally good—the convenience was worth the higher prices. Then Covid hit. No access to delivery slots during Covid even w/Deliver Pass & food quality slipped a lot. They seemed unable to adjust to the increased demands under Covid. I dropped them & they gave me rebate on remainder of my Deliver Pass charge. I found great options to replace FD, but decided to give them another try this Nov. Unfortunately, delivery service reliability is worse. I live in a doorman bldg & clearly declined option to "leave items at your door" because I'm always home. The delivery was running behind time, but even worse it was not delivered to my apt door but abandoned near the elevators. No one contacted me to let me know where my order was; finally it was discovered by a maintenance worker. All frozen food was melted & had to be thrown out. I will NEVER use FD again & advise you to consider other options—It's just not worth the disappointment, aggravation or cost even though their customer service did give me a credit for the damaged frozen items; a peace offering but too little too late because it means that the credit forces me to use the service one more time; frankly I don't expect an easy encounter.
Horrible, absolutely horrible service! I'm a new customer who tried to place an order and was supposed to get $50 off well their customer service (Jessica) said I've been a customer since 2012 (meanwhile I wasn't even in the states that year) then she said, okay I activated your eligibility for the coupon and after I placed my order and money was taken out of my account, THEY DEACTIVATED MY ACCOUNT COMPLETELY WITHOUT ANY EMAIL OR CORRESPONDENCE ABOUT MY ORDER THEN I CALL THEM SEVERAL TIMES TO WHICH THEH LIED AND SAID I NEED TO CONTACT MY BANK MEANWHILE MY MONEY WAS TAKEN OUT AND I TOOK A DAY OFF WAITING FOR MY ORDER! Buyers, please stay away from this scam of a business! Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. I don't even know where my money is now!
