Fresh Direct prepared foods are dangerous to consumers. Sulfites are not listed in product information. While Fresh Direct informs buyers that their kitchen uses shellfish, nuts, and other highly allergic ingredients, Fresh Direct no longer lists sulfites in the product information tab.They used to provide that information
My family had a reaction to the chicken salad because it has sulfites. I wouldn't recommend the product anyway since it was so salty it not fit for human consumption.

Be aware that just by going on this website and signing up even before placing an order you will automatically be signed up for a subscription service! I went to the website on Tuesday, decided there was nothing I would like to order and went out of the website. The following day I saw a charge for over $67 on my credit card. I immediately called Fresh Direct *******663). They said they could not cancel "my" order as my order would be delivered in fewer than 5 days and they needed 5 days notice to cancel an order. I explained I never placed an order. They said their terms and conditions State that by signing up I was automatically going to receive an order. The order is to be delivered Sunday. I told them I'm not going to be home. They didn't care! Besides, I argued that if the order is supposed to be "fresh", how could they not cancel it? Unbelievable! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! I am disputing the charge through my credit card.

Fresh Direct, now owned by Ahold Delhaize (& partners, owners of sister site Stop and Shop) lost some indie appeal and products I've enjoyed for quite some time. Some products, formerly made by Fresh Direct, have been farmed out to other companies. The replacement products are not as tasty as the original product were. I've also discovered that products readily available for the consumers residing in upscale areas in Connecticut, for example, are denied to customers residing in Queens, NY. My product requests are now ignored. One particular complaint I made - regarding the company's placement of Reveal, a cat food SUPPLEMENT (which should not be considered part of a cats regular diet) is listed in the cat food section. Despite my providing Fresh Direct's management with proof that this product is missing key nutrients/minerals needed for a cat's health (that commercial cat food includes) the company refuses to place this product in the supplemental section of pet products. Still, there's a massive amount of selection of pantry and gourmet items, meats, fish, frozen, breads, and dairy. I've been a customer for more than 15 years and will continue to use their service.

The pandemic crisis forever changed the way we live, I understand. Many supplies and food items are scarce and demand is high. What I can't understand is my extremely determined, over-the-top, number of attempts to get a delivery slot on the Fresh Direct schedule and failing completely. I started 5 days ago with a full shopping cart; made the first attempt some time in the afternoon. Sold out. Tried again after midnight. A day was added to the schedule, but it was sold out. I then visited every hour on the hour until I saw another day was added, but sold out. Day Three - Four: Made one attempt ever minute, clearing my cache after each time, until midnight passed, another day added, and was sold out. What technology is available to grab a delivery slot? Apparently there are others just like me who are trying to score a slot. Day 5: Started my efforts at 11:50 pm and made 3 attempts per minute. Couldn't get into the grid between 12:01 AM - 12:05 AM. When I got back in, another day was added and it was sold out. I must go with the belief that there are people much needier than I, who can't get outside to a market of any kind, who must use efforts much superior to my own and have succeeded to score a delivery slot. For me, it was, of course, sold out. Either it was that scenerio or somethings up with Fresh Direct on the inside. Has securing a delivery slot at an online market replaced trying to score a pair of seats for a Beyonce concert and giving up after you lined up three cell phones and a land line at start attempts 8 minutes before tix go on sale, and frantically punch in the call redial on every phone every 10 seconds, only to discover at 1 minute past the hour, it's all sold out. At least you know that the tix went to a ticket reseller where starting prices begin at $200 above the price you could've paid if you scored a pair of tickets the legit way. Here, it's the same, except there's no delivery slot reseller available.

Fresh direct stands by their promise "Fresh"

I had an order with Fresh direct and I ordered 8 boxes of milk. I didn't check the expiration date and 10 days later the milk tasked bad, it expired 10 days later. I contacted the customer service and they worked out with me very nice, I received credit and will order again. I recommend this company without any reserve. Thank you!

Despite clear delivery window and instructions not to deliver outside that window, drivers show up whenever they want. I have repeatedly had groceries delivered at 7 am while I reserved 10-12. Food sits out and I spoiled. This business has lost its way with the employees doing what works for them, not for the customer.

Website doesn't work

The food and the delivery have generally been ok but the website is dysfunctional. It "hangs" or freezes, no matter the browser. You would think this would be a priority to them. The point of my ordering from Fresh Direct is to save time but at this point, it is probably faster to just walk over to the local grocery store rather than waiting for the frozen screen to load. This is an ONLINE service when the ONLINE part doesn't work.

I set up an account and used a coupon. After that, the choices shown up as sale items are limited and some are more pricey when compared to my searches from another browser without signing in. There were 8 items on sale in meat and seafood compared to 19 items when not signed in (and only 4 items in seafood when signed in compared to 14 if not signed in). The delivery was great (during Delivery Pass free trial). Food was fine. That's why I gave 2 stars for them.

Thought it was only me but I noticed that the "fresh" seafood I always order from them smell funky after cooking especially the shrimp. I think it's the fourth consecutive time. I had no problem with my first few orders until the first occurrence. Their customer support was also unresponsive.

I recently suffered a back injury making it difficult to shop. Fresh Direct was perfect for me. Their prices, for what I generally shop for, was the same as the grocery stores in my area. But best of all they delivered right to my door with several different delivery times.

Waited for my grocery order that was supposed to arrive by 9 am all day. Nothing. Tried to get into my account multiple times and couldn't. Took me 6 hours to get someone on the line to help me only to tell me that me account had been deactivated, and they didn't know why. So no groceries and I'm out $180. The guy couldn't give me a reason as to why it was deactivated. He didn't know, just said to get my bank on the line. Unbelievable. I don't know if I'll get my money back. Use a different grocery service.

I tried to purchase a gift card for someone for Christmas, fill everything out and get to the payment page - put in my info and press submit... and not brought to the confirmation page. Press submit again, sure enough - not brought to the confirmation page again. Take a look at my bank statement and charged $100... with no gift card in hand. The kicker - I call FD and they say I never placed any order... and to call my bank to resolve the problem... never using FD again.

This was my first & last time ever using Fresh Direct. I am utterly disappointed with the service.
On November 14,2020 I placed an order for a prepared Thanksgiving meal to be delivered on Thursday November 26,2020 between 6am - 9am. I provided my card information & signed up for text message alerts on my order. I immediately received a confirmation email with an attached link for " order status" stating that my order had been processed.
From November 15 to November 25 I regularly checked my email to see if I received any new notifications. I received none. I also did not receive any text alerts of any kind. Now most companies send an email or text reminding you of your online order 24 hrs or 48 hrs prior the expected delivery. Fresh Direct did not do any of those things. The day before Thanksgiving, Nov 25, I checked the status of my order. The status said "expected delivery tomorrow". There was no indication or notification of any issues. And of course I checked my email. No notifications from Fresh Direct. Thanksgiving morning I get up at 6 am to begin the waiting game. At 6:10 am I check my order status & is unable to get information. I refreshed the web page & tried again. Still unable to get information. After exploring the Fresh Direct site for a minute I finally found some information. The site said that the status of my order had been cancelled. I never cancelled my order & I definitely didn't receive any notifications from Fresh Direct informing me of such actions. I immediately called the customer service number. The customer service rep confirmed that my order was cancelled & that Fresh Direct was having trouble with my banking information. I asked the rep if there truly were issues with my banking information why didn't Fresh Direct contact me? I informed the rep that I did not receive a single email or text notifying me of such issues. The rep informed me that there was nothing that could be done about my cancelled order as all delivery times have been filled.
I can not express enough how livid I am with Fresh Direct. I immediately email a complaint to the Fresh Direct Help Service. Scolding them for not sending me any notifications or text messages regarding the issue. Fresh Direct responded back stating that they're sorry that my order had been cancelled & that they sent an email out on Nov 24. And suggested that I check my junk mail. First off I never received an email from Fresh Direct on Nov 24 or dates prior. There were no Fresh Direct emails in my junk mail, spam box or inbox. I marked the Fresh Direct email address as "priority" so any email received from them would go straight to my inbox at the top of the list. It was dead silence on Fresh Directs end until I sent my compliant about their actions.
I contacted customer service for my card to inspect the activity of Fresh Direct. The customer service rep informed me that no transactions of any kind had occurred on the November 14. I asked the rep to double check for Fresh Direct & stated the amount. The rep stated that there were no attempts of a charge & no declines of a charge being made by Fresh Direct that day or any day after. How strange. I informed a friend of my strange discovery & she was not surprised. She informed me that certain businesses are purposefully over booking themselves with orders to guarantee that they meet their quota. When the companies have reached their capacity they drop the remaining orders under false pretenses. Similar to how certain airlines like to book seats. If this is true on Fresh Direct's part then they are deplorably unprofessional & their actions are down right unkind. I am incline to believe this theory because I can't logically explain their actions my order.
Had Fresh Direct simply stated that they were no longer taking delivery orders I could've ordered from another business. And my family would be getting ready to eat a Thanksgiving meal. Being that it is Thanksgiving Day there are no businesses that will accept a last minute meal request. So our options today are fast food or left overs

Wow, I tried yet again to place an order and this time the website froze and crashed. They simply do not have the capacity to be a business anyone can patronize. Last straw and last time I try to use them. No idea whose running the company but they're absolutely clueless! Bye Felicia!

2nd review:
I get a "come back" offer in the mail, $50 off an order of $99 or more for the account holder at my address (which is obviously me). So, I spend about 15 minutes shopping only to find out the code won't work.

Horrible company.

Original review: Let's look at this from a business perspective, if you can't deliver to me in a timely manner (or at all), you clearly don't have your stuff together and you don't deserve my business, and this is where they consistently fall short compared to the competition.

They used to be my go to grocery delivery service until there have been zero delivery dates are available, and you find this out after you load up your cart and waste time.

For instance I filled my cart today for Thanksgiving preparation, go to select delivery dates and... nothing. But, I go to Amazon Fresh and boom, same day delivery (and saved $20 on the same order minus the breadcrumbs). Whole Foods? Same thing, I always get same day or next day delivery, even during the height of the toilet paper phase of the pandemic.

Fresh Direct needs better leadership and it could be awesome!
