It was a really nice experience with Russell. Very smooth interview, thanks :)
It was a quick interview of mine. It shows freelancer takes good care of the candidates who enroll on their website.
I have received prompt and courteous support when I needed help learning how to set up my profile and navigate the site. Everyone here has been most helpful and kind. Chelsea spoke with me on a call to vet me for the "Get Verified" program, and it went very well. Overall, I'm happy with my experience.
Chelsea V. was very professional and asked solid questions with thoughtful follow-up questions as well.
Very nice overall. Pleasent experience, except some background noises and one time background scenery laugh. Which made me laugh too. :D
It was great speaking with Joey, simple verification process.
Macy M. Was so supportive and responded quickly. I was completely satisfied.
My verification video interview with Joey C was an exceedingly pleasant and educational experience. I have a dinosaur of a laptop, and was unsure if it would be able to handle the requirements of video chat technology corresponding to this century. Before the interview, I contacted Joey C via chat and asked him if it was acceptable to use my phone to proceed with the interview. He guided me through the process of using the phone instead of the laptop, and I was able to speak with him at the time we had designated.
The interview process was interesting and informative, and Joey C made me feel comfortable from the beginning of the interview process until the conclusion of our chat. Even though I couldn't see his face, I felt a genuine warmth, interest and natural flow of conversation from his thought-provoking questions and insights. Joey C is both a marvelous interviewer and listener, and he possesses the interpersonal skills necessary for his position.
Throughout the interview process, I felt that his questions were relevant and intelligent. They reflected the culture, expectations and high standards of Freelancer.com, and they also taught me more about the platform and the quality it expects from the freelancers who use the site. After the interview with Joey C was finished, I felt as though I knew more about the platform and how it operates. I felt acknowledged and appreciated as a member of Freelancer.com, and this interview made me feel enthusiastic about working towards the next steps to becoming a Preferred Freelancer. After Joey C and I ended our call, I found myself wishing that we could continue chatting over a cup of tea. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with our conversation and the warmth and professionalism that I experienced this evening. Joey C is an asset to Freelancer.com as an interviewer, and a genuinely nice human being on the other side of the screen.
Macy M. Was perfect.

She was so helpful and even walked me through, she will reach out to my client and was kind
I had an account on Freelancer, and after I paid the client for their work, Freelancer asked me to verify my account again. After I sent them the requested documents again, they rejected them for unclear reasons. For example, they rejected my valid ID card, which is still valid for several more years, claiming it had "expired." They also rejected the bank statement they requested because it was older than three months, even though I sent them a statement from the previous month. I wrote messages to the Verification Center, but it took them 7-10 days to respond, and their response was always the same: "Read our terms and conditions." They didn't provide any specific explanations to my questions.
Even though it took them quite a while to respond to my inquiries, they were very prompt when it came to sending me messages urging me to make another payment "so that my client could be paid for their services."
I did some research and found numerous similar examples from other Freelancer users, where their accounts were shut down after they received payment from clients, preventing them from withdrawing the funds. My advice is to be very cautious because something seems suspicious in the company's policies.
Russel was very professional and not only gave a great interview, but also gave some great suggestions that will be helpful to me on Freelancer.
Joey was extremely chatty and helpful, and set out clearly how I could improve the bare bones of the profile I'd set out already. He also answered my questions about the benefits of the verification process, and took time to understand how I wanted to make freelancing through the site work for me. The Google Meet and Calendly approach worked seamlessly.
Understanding communication and quickly given solution for my problem
Good for responding our problems. Doesn't to tell twice and professional
Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
