I love Express but I'm thinking about paying off my Express credit card and canceling it all together. Every coupon offer the store has is full of restrictions. Really, what's the point!?!
Ordered two sweaters in mid October. Never received them after two weeks so I emailed customer service. I was told that they were back ordered (with NO PRIOR NOTIFICATION) and that it could take up to four weeks. Fast forward almost EIGHT WEEKS NOW and I contact customer service again. I am told my order has been cancelled yet they still have a hold placed on my checking account. I received NO NOTIFICATION or anything. And to top that off, Chaz one of the reps, tried to accuse me of making up dates when I have electronic email proof! UNBELIEVABLE. I have shopped at express for about 5 years now and spend about $1000 every 6 months and I can assure you I will never patronage this retail store again.
If I was rating the store, I'll probably rate five stars, but the website can use some upgrade, the picture can be better, and I totally hated it when once I had to submit an order so fast because I had the last item, they do not reserve the item if it was on you cart, not even for 15 min! That is a shame, so after submitting the order I received an e-mail that the item was no longer in stock! So let me put it like that I love shopping here because I like the stuff and every now and then there is a great sale going on and coupons so can't complain about the prices cause I never pay full prices, would choose to shop in the store unless I don't find a certain item, or there is a special offer and I don't have the time to go shop in the store, love that I can return the items in the store this is an important fact for me, so it's a love hate relation for me haha
Two things that are a major deterrent to me continuing to purchase from Express online (and I don't do malls/stores).
Firstly, two points. I purchase when their stuff is on sale, because it's simply not worth the full price when compared to the (quality/price of) competition. Secondly. I'm the same size in everything and every other player (Guess, AE, etc) allows me to easily shop online, not the same with Express for two reasons.
1. The last several times I ordered, they have canceled an item because it's suddenly "out of stock." yet it was in stock when I placed the order. Also, for some strange reason, it takes 4 days for them to realize it's out of stock. This is the only company this happens with ever, possibly the worst stock tracking system on earth.
2. The sizes are completely inconsistent. Wear a size 32 X 32 pants? Good luck, one will be long, one will be short, one will fit perfectly.
So the hassle of having items you're looking forward to canceled along with having to return items that don't fit correctly makes this a headache not worth it.
Order "processed through facility, SHANGHAI EMS, CHINA June 28th." Next tracking comment no date: "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment". USPS received on July 17,2017 4:27am: "Arrived at Unit PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ ******* ". Buyer received July 17th 2:33pm completely waterlogged inside. Opening the mailing envelope, a stench of the cardboard (which explained the product) sitting in a pool of water was an allergy trigger.
Emails have been a happening with Express Den. Wanted pictures which I emailed. The product (3 bowls for Christmas presents). The courier was responsible not Express Den. The Courier was USPS (named after emails question). The tracking number didn't end in the ones USPS uses (CN).
Supposedly I will eventually get a refund of $. 20 per box. Have already paid the full order.
Will I use them for my next order? No
Hi, I am from India, for the 1st time i made a purchase on express.com on 21st April. My cc was charged US$ 56.69 and it was shipped to my local address in NY on 23rd and then to my shock i got a 2nd sms from my cc saying express charged US $ 56.69 that same night i called express they said its a technical error and they will refund in 3 days, 4 days latter i called they said by 9th may it will be refunded, today 10th may, I called up again, they say its charged only once on 29th April, i told them how is it possible that you charge on 29th April, when I have placed the order on 21st April and on 23rd its already shipped.
I have shopping since last 5 years on ae.com never had such issues.
Its a scam by express.

PAYING THEM IS ALMOST AS SCARY AS GETTING ROBBED, YOU DONT EVEN KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING TO END UP LOSING YOUR GIFT CARD MONEY OR YOUR REWARD MONEY OR EVEN END UP WITH A PENDING TRANSACTION ON YOUR CREDIT CARD THAT LASTS FOR A WEEK AND THEN EN UP WITH NO PURCHASE OR CANCELLED ORDER. I bought a dress online at express.com the dress didn't fit me well, so I went to a express store to return the dress and they told me I cannot return the dress since it is from a third party. This is a fraud because I bought the dress from express.com, and paid with my express card, after submitting the order the confirmation order also comes from express.com but there is a note in small letters that says "you cannot return an express marketplace item to a express store" I didn't realize this, only after I try to return the dress. The bad time I went through at the store when I was trying to return the dress was very frustrating. They made me feel like I was trying to return a dress from a different store to them, like if I was doing something illegal. The tellers don't even know that express is selling this express marketplace items and made me feel stupid. I am considering taking legal actions against express.com for being so dishonest and after I fix this issue I will cancel my Express account.
We misidentified Express as the vendor on a product my daughter didn't like. When Express thought it was their product, THEY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL, COURTEOUS, PROFESSIONAL AND PROMPT. Really above and beyond the call. They were willing to do it all: refund shipping, refund the product, via mail or in person -- whatever we wanted. Treated us like ROYALTY. Haven't seen that in ages!
If i can give this company a 0 star i would! I have been trying to get this ribbed long sleeve turtleneck for a while and when it finally came back in stock i ordered it right away and pain full price of $60! I get the confirmation email but nothing after that. So i wait and about 10 days later i call them up and they tell me that they ran out of my item and when it comes back in stock they will send it too me. This is a horrible system! They should have given me the chance to choose what i wanted to do and not THEM make that decision for me! The customer service lady said that the best she can do is either refund my money or wait till item comes back or choose something (similar) else and they will price match it for me, not even say hey for your trouble let me give you a discount since you paid full price, nothing! Now 10 days have gone by and if i would have known what was going on i probably would have found a similar item somewhere else and probably for a lot less. All they kept on saying was that it was out of their hands and that it was the fault of the "automated" service. So i am here to warn all of you on the "automated" services that no one wants to take accountability for.
The last time I made a payment I was $2 short. I caught it, and paid it, but apparently did so late. Thinking I paid off my card, I ignored my subsequent statement available emails. Turns out, I was being charged $10 late fees, 1st on the $2 late payment, then on the late fee, so I ended up with a $23 charge. I tried to make a purchase today and couldn't because my credit card had been shut off because I had the $23 payment pending. I found this out when I called Customer Service. I have spent thousands of dollars at Express over the years, and what they came back with was "well, we'll give you $10 back". Seriously... billion $ retailer? You're going play that bull$#*! game with me? I could care less about the $10... it's the principle.
Guess what Free People and Anthropologie? My thousands of dollars I would have spent with Express going forward will now be yours! Bye Express! Keep treating good customers like this and see what happens. There are plenty of other great places to shop.
Express is trash! I sent $200 on boots that was sent used and worn out! The exchange pair was worse!
After 3 years of being a loyal customers and a few thousand dollars later, I'm pissed off and shocked at the horrible customer service. They will not offer free online returns (I asked because most retailers are offering free online returns due to stores being closed b/c of Corona Virus). So I asked them if I could combine my returns from multiple orders and ship back in 1 box so I only have to pay 6.99 and they said "I could do it, but they would charge me 6.99 for each return"! WTF is that garbage! I asked about lowering my monthly payment as well since my new job is being delayed, again because of Corona, and they were SO rude to me over the phone, telling me it's my fault because I keep ordering clothes from them and there's "nothing they can do." These are just my RECENT complaints as I've had issues with them in the past, including being charged double by the sales people and/or sales people returning my items but forgetting to ring them item back to my card. They also won't fix errors over the phone. So I had to drive 2 hours back to the store to fix THEIR mistake. Too bad because I honestly love the style and get lots of compliments whenever I go out wearing Express brand clothes. Once stores open back up, I'm returning the stuff I do not want to keep and cutting up my store card with them. There's hundreds of other shops to find cool, trendy clothes. They need to train their people to be more friendly and less hostile.
I purchased some items online after trying them on I needed a smaller size went to the store to be told my order was canceled. So they store offered to place an order online for the correct size that I needed. I instead of my credit card everything was approved. Six hours later I received an email from EXPRESS stating that there were some issues with my order. Call the customer service line and was told that my payment hadn't been excepted, even though it was pending out of my account and was approved at the store, I refuse to give them a new card number because it was still showing pending in my account. I was told rudely your order will be canceled and I said then, so be it to this day I have not gotten a phone call from anyone trying to assist me with the situation I did not want to give my credit card number again because it is still as of today showing pending out of my account. This has been the worst experience I've ever experienced with EXPRESS and I've made it very clear that I will not be shopping with Xpress moving forward so my credit card I'm just going to allow the store to go ahead and close it out because I will not be using it
I had a BIRTHDAY REWARDS FOR $40 ending 1/31/2019 - went to the store to try the items i saw on sale at 40% so i can use the rewards against the purchase - was told the 40% is only online - nothing is stated on the website. Stores closes at 9pm PST our time.
Once i found time - went to the website to make the online purchase - wow my $40 rewards is not there anymore - chatted with customer service - He told me the rewards are following Easter time - really wow? Told him no where it says that on the website.
This is deceiving consumers and not disclosing there terms clear enough - i think i would have better things to do then waking up 6 am to place an order before going to work...
Oh and i have been ordering over 10 years from express.
Way to go for customer service!\

I order a jacket from EXPRESS two weeks ago; to be clear, a full 10 work days have passed, My order has not even left the US. The product is to be shipped to Australia. In addition, i paid $US 25 for shipping. I think express keeps 20 and pays some shonky 'contractor' 5 dollars to bring it here. EXPRESS will waste your time; and in the end, your money. Sizing has changed (my old ones fit but new ones don't) Now they wrinkle easily and are PILLING! Used to be my "go to" for work slacks. Now not so much
