DONT EVER USE EXPEDIA! Horrible customer service! It is a total SCAM! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! Customer service agents are uneducated about policies.

I used the AARP portal of Expedia.com. At first I had a very pleasant experience booking flights to Europe. I chose premium economy seats and paid extra for the additional leg room. I selected my seats on a seating chart appropriately showing the premium economy section of the flight for the particular airline. The confirmation came back with seats in the lowest economy section. So I called the airline asking what's the problem? They told me that Expedia booked a low price economy ticket. Then I called Expedia and explained the situation. They told me that Expedia does not have the seating plan of the airline and that only the airline can confirm seats. Always being calm and polite I asked to speak to a supervisor. After waiting fifteen minutes on hold a supervisor answered and immediately the phone went dead. I called again, explained things again to another agent, waited another fifteen minutes for a supervisor. This time it seemed that we were getting somewhere. She listened. I explained that I could have bought a lower priced ticket from the Expedia choices for the same seat. I also explained that the seat diagram shown to me was only for premium seats so you would expect to get at least a seat in that section. At the very least there was misrepresentation of services being purchased. After listening she told me that she would check on my reservation. I heard some talking in the background and just when I thought now we're getting somewhere the phone line was cut off again. I could not give up after all this effort so I called again. This is where things got really eerie. After the usual robotic interaction of entering all my information I lost the connection even before speaking to anyone. This happened at least three times and I assume that I've been black listed and cut off from all human communication. I then called the airline and "upgraded" my tickets to the desired seats for an extra $328 dollars. I want to stress that all the time I was very polite, asking for an explanation and a way to register a formal complaint.

Reservation booked months prior to didnt exist when arriving on CHRISTMAS DAY. Not reliable. DON'T BOOK ANYTHING THRU EXPEDIA they dont stand behind it and your entire trip could be in jeopardy.

CHARGED MONEY FOR INSURACNCE BUT NEVER SUPPLIED THE CAR, NOT ONLY DID THEY CHARGE EXTRA WHEN I ARRIVED FOR THE CAR THEY ALSO THEY WONT RETURN THE INSURANCE MONEY BECAUSE THEY CANNOT CONTACT THE COMPANY IN WARSAW. Worst busness practive ever, never going to use them agian

A few months ago I purchased round trip Business class tickets from Expedia. At the time of booking the site said to wait a couple hours before we could choose our seats on the two airlines we are flying from BOI-CDG. I was able to book our seats in Business class on AIRFRANCE first and then to Delta. Our flight from LAX-BOI was first class, seats book. Our first leg of the trip BOI-ALT we were in economy. I called and talked to customer service at Expedia and they said they are only allotted so many first class seats and to check back. So in the meantime I paid to upgrade our seats to economy + on the delta site. Today I was on the Expedia site and saw that there were 5 first class seats on the first leg of our trip so I called. I got to talk with Michael B. In the escalations department at Expedia were he informed me that they did us a favor by upgrading us to economy + and AIRFRANCE does not have first class and therefore there is nothing Expedia can do for us. I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to but Michael B. Said he was the top dog and he knew all. Well he doesn't know BC is first class, the only thing higher is a pod and not all planes have them. I will never use Expedia again, from now on I will book directly with the airline!

Customer Deception

Last week I used Expedia to travel to Punta Cana, 2 days before I received an email from Delta airline that my flight back to USA was canceled, I immediately contacted Expedia customer service (they were the ones who sold me the package).
Options provided: - we refund your money, and you will be available in 45 days--we refund part of the money for the return flight, and you buy another flight yourself--is Delta Airline's problem not ours--his day of return (June 27/2022) Delta canceled all flights to Punta Cana (something that was a lie, being in Punta Cana call the airport that day and Delta operated all its flights)--
Conclusions: - my little son was already excited about his trip, there was no option but to buy one more night at the Hotel (very expensive).
Something additional: Yesterday (July 3/2022) I received an email from Expedia to evaluate my stay at the chosen Hotel, because my evaluation was sincere and true (Negative), they sent me back an email notifying me that my review could not be posted.

While in Lisbon, I booked a trip to go to Fatima, Nazare, and Obidos on April 28,2023 for April 29,2023. The morning of April 29th, I was waiting for the tour guide to come but no one did. I tried calling the local agency ( Lisbona Turismo) to no avail, sent them an email, and sent them chat through Whatsapp. After 9 mins, this is the email I received from Lisbona Turismo "Hello the tour is canceled because not have a minimun number.Sorry but yesterday expedia call me and i already inform".

So, I technically wasted my time waking up early and waiting but found out I was charged and this is Expedia's reply to me ( after multiple email exchanges and asking them why the system still allowed me to book).

"Hello Angie,

We have advocated for your refund request to Lisbona turismo but we haven't gotten approval from the property manager. We apologize if this may have been trouble for you.

"We're really sorry about this; we always try to contact suppliers and advocate for our travelers in these situations. Properties often have strict policies around refunds, and there's nothing more we can do in this case."

BEWARE when booking for travels with EXPEDIA. I have made sure no one I work with, who works for me, my friends and family... EVER BOOK WITH EXPEDIA. This was the worst booking experience for the following reasons:

1. The site booked me at a so-called nearby hotel option which turned out to be 2+ hours away;

2. No one at the hotel would talk to me (the Expedia customer), saying they cannot speak to the customer but have to speak with Expedia; and

3. NO ONE at Expedia helped resolve the issue or ever update me ALL THE WAY from (a) customer service reps John and Mari who never responded over the course of two weeks after promising to update me in 24 hours, (b) corporate executive assistant Sandra Mendes also went radio silent for another week despite promising yet again to update me in 24 hours, and (c) all of the executives I emailed and pleaded with totally disregarded me... obviously too busy to bother with the sucker customers...

Total waste of time, money and lesson learned DON'T EVER BOOK THROUGH THIS HORRENDOUS OPERATION. IT IS A SHAMEFUL BUSINESS WHICH I WILL REPORT TO BBB ALSO.

Happy travels and stay off Expedia and its affiliates!

DON'T USE EXPEDIA

I wish I could give them a -1 star.

So I booked a flight with Delta through Expedia. First, they changed the times of my layover, making it impossible to catch my layover as it was leaving 2 HOURS before my first flight arrived at my layover destination. Had to get on a 2+ hour call for them to "find another flight."

A few weeks later I get another email that Expedia changed my flight again. This time completely changed the take-off day and added THREE layovers. When I called to complain, was going round and round in circles about no other flights being available, so I three-way called Delta representative to try and fix this and they said Expedia agents do this all the time in order to save the company $50 for changing the flight… you're telling me a company as big as EXPEDIA is making our lives hell to save some cash?

WELL, that's not all. While I'm still on the call with both agents, I ask for an upgrade. Expedia claims that it'll be $2k more… Delta claims it'll be $300 more for the exact same upgrade. Expedia claims it doesn't exist even though the DELTA agent is confirming it! RIDICULOUS! In the end, we had to request a full refund from Expedia (which they tried to change our minds about by transferring me to another department, I said absolutely no), and buy the upgraded flight directly through Delta. ALSO, the flight refund will take about 12+ weeks to be refunded.

DON'T! USE! EXPEDIA!
