My managers usual hotel preference on this particular trip was not available so I went onto Expedia to find another hotel located in the same area. Only one room at another hotel was available so I made the reservation which was confirmed and an itinerary number was received.
When he arrived to the hotel about midnight, he was told that the Expedia reservation didnt get accepted. The hotel was sold out and he had to search for another hotel to stay for the night.
The full charge for his 3-day stay was already pending on his credit card the next morning. I called to get the charge reversed and the Expedia agent put me hold for over 30 minutes. When she finally got back on the line it was to tell me she was unable to reach the hotel desk. She then told me she would send an email to the support team to continue to contact the hotel before Expedia would reverse the charge which could take up to 24 hours.
After waiting another day, I called back, was placed on hold again while the agent attempted to contact the hotel. Another 30 minutes passed before my case was escalated to a 2nd level supervisor who finally was able to process the refund.
This process took 4 days to be resolved which is completely unacceptable. We will never use Expedia again after such treatment. Expedias online confirmation system is not credible.
I contacted Expedia (didn't know about the merge/change to One Key) a month ago regarding my points on my account... It's difficult to get a live person when contacting them, the wait time can be as long as 15 minutes plus... I finally got a rep on the phone named Rosa who informed me of my point balance ($185.62) and the amount of time I had to use my points (18 moths)... I checked my account after speaking with Rosa, and my points appeared on my account. A few weeks ago my points were still on my account... I was trying to book a hotel through Expedia a few days ago and my points were missing. I checked the app and my points were missing, but I could see where my points were converted last July... Apparently Rosa was totally incorrect, and my points expired. I contacted Expedia via chat and explained the situation to the rep Saswata. Saswata stated there were no points, and after going back and forth Saswata disconnected the chat without notice... The next day I contacted Expedia via phone a couple of times and was supposed to receive a callback within 15 minutes... I finally received a call from a live person an hour later... The rep Calvita stated she could see my points and wasn't understanding what occurred... She could also see the same information I saw on the app... Calvita explained the points expire after 18 months, and she needed to get a specialized team to contact me via email... I asked for a direct number/email to that team, but she stated there wasn't one... Like 20 minutes later I received an email from 3 different people like they copied and pasted their messages to me... No one was able to help, they continuously stated my points expired in June, and points expire in 12 months… My $185.62 in points were gone, and they weren't willing to do any type of compensation; although, I was misinformed on 3 different occasions... Everyone should be on one accord when informing customers of information... I wouldn't have had a problem if the information given to me from the previous 3 reps was the same information given to me from the specialized team...
Trust me! Pay the extra money and avoid Expedia at all costs! I've been scammed by this company. They will try anything in their power to not give you a REFUND. I booked a trip to Italy that I needed to cancel. Expedia did not want to refund me the fares paid. In order for me to rebook another package, I had to pay for another package upfront and was told that they would refund me by crediting my credit card. Well they never refunded me the entire amount that was agreed upon! Pretty much put me on a Basic fare flight which offered no changes/cancellations. The hotel that they booked me for closed down due to the Coronavirus. When I went to cancel the reservation, there was no amount to be refunded. I'm not sure of what Expedia did but this is a nightmare! The customer service line is always "down" and I did get through, I was placed on hold for hours only for the phone to be disconnected. I said that I would never use them again after I had a situation with them back in 2016, when I reserved a stay at the Westgate in Orlando! I get to the resort and they had NO RECORD of my booking and I had to clear this up for hours at the reservation desk before being able to get a room! With this incident, Expedia offered me o $50 credit toward a future booking that I NEVER received! I'm done with the third party online agents. I'd rather pay the extra money for my own sanity and to be able to control my own situation by dealing with airfare and hotels directly! I wouldn't recommend using Expedia at all!
They will leave you sleeping in your car. I started a 5 am to confirm room because I knew there were power outages. I called hotel with no answer and told this worthless company the same. They said they would call and did. Said they don't answer the phone. No$#*!. We will try again in a few hours and if there is a problem we will contact you via email. I land. Drive to hotel and it's closed. I call. They say they will call again. Then they say owner says they have not power. Why didn't you call the owner the first time? Guess what. Now they sent an email. We have another hotel. I drive there and it's close. I call back. They say they talked to john and he has a room for me. I drive there its closed. I call again. While I am wasting my time I make calls and find a hotel within 5 minutes. They wasted 4 hours of my life and left me to sleep in my car. It was an act of nature they said. So now not telling the truth and being just plan stupid is an act of nature? Bring back natural selection. I am ot typically a $#*!er, but this one is unbelievable! And they don't care. I will have to contest the charges on my credit card. Do yourself a favor and make your own reservation. The one time it goes south they will kick you to the curb.
I've been having the second bad experience with them and this time I cannot give up as it is about more $1500 which I cannot forget about it.
First time they had to refund me few hundred dollars and I literally gave up as after more than 6 month of being called during my work time and meetings by the staff telling me the same thing that they requested the refund successfully from their side but blaming the airline - and I haven't got anything back. I was fed-up of getting called by them all the time with no results.
This time the airline cancelled my flight in October. (itinerary number ************** and Booking ID: KFNDEN, team with reference case ID: S-*******).
Now it is February and I am getting the same thing that they raised the case SUCCESSFULLY after 4 month but still waiting for the approval from the Airline but not sure if they will get it.
This is absolutely madness and rubbery. I had more faith in this company and I thought is a trustworthy one and it is becoming very very very disappointing.
I really hope I will get my refund back and I will not stop until I will get it this time
Very dissipated Expedia! Shame on you for a company who is claiming is a leader in Traveling!
Used this site for my trip in Japan (Kyoto to be specific). I had no problem booking the hotel, and it was pretty cheap compared to other sites.
Good pricing if you work at it over a period of time. One of the sites i go to when planning transportation and lodging for trips.
I have booked several vacations with them. I really like that if there is an issue you can call and they are quick to take care of it.
I had a pretty good experience with expedia. I laid out my travel plans for this holiday weekend (Easter) and it has been pleasant to say the least.
Great layout and easy to find information. I would love to see better prices though. But then again everything these days is really expensive.
Their UI is a bit clunky and they don't give the best prices. Much better options online, if you take the time to do your research.
Great customer service. Their team was very helpful when had an issue with a room. I travel a lot so important to me
Got my tickets at a pretty good price and had no issues. I think there are better places to search for tickets though.
Please avoid this company and use the services of someone else because these guys will never listen to you after you have done.
Not all the places are the greatest so just make sure if it's cheaper to know what type of place it is.
Love that I can find packaged deals on Expedia, it makes planning a getaway easy based on where you want to go.
Always discover new places on earth but one and only Expedia is the platform which will provide you cheap trips and hotels
We used expedia for a trip to Austria last year. Things went smoothly, we had no issues with them at all
Best deals on trips and vacations. Awesome vacation packages. One place to book your hotel and airline tickets at great prices.
I get the best rates from expedia for hotel. However it is not so good for car rental or flight booking...
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
