Edgenuity bought the old Calvert Education, but failed to tell existing customers. Then, they changed students to their extremely different and tedious platform. Many parents left the program resulting in loss of money that was never refunded by this company. They do not deal with their company acquisitions in a responsible manner. Their product is run-of-the-mill credit recovery.

I am a teacher who has used this program in class. I have had complaints about all the glitches that have happened. I've heard things from losing progress when using a different device, all the way to it auto submitting quizzes if you close the computer with an unfinished quiz. I feel like this doesn't even help any students. My students have said they haven't learned anything on this platform, and that it's the most boring website ever.

So basically i used edgenuity to do my entire junior year and it was the worst experience i've ever had with any kind of education website. The pre-recorded teachers gave me nightmares, 90% of the information can be found copied and pasted on the internet. I did not learn a single thing.

We are a residential school who has students coming and going regularly Edgenuity helps us to place and help all their individual needs. The material is interesting. This is a very good tool for our program.

Update to earlier review on Edgenuity
February 13, 2021
Updated review

Although it took weeks to get a response at the beginning of the fall 2020 semester, customer service did improve although you have to leave your number and wait for a call back. But the teaching aspect is not as good as it could be. Our daughter had a wonderful English teacher who was actually the best resource on figuring out how Edgenuity works (since customer service wasn't responding and our school had no clue) but all of a sudden with no explanation my daughter had a new teacher. I finally found out that they pulled the great teacher (Mr. Jones - real name) because he didn't live in the same state as we do. They need to clone him. We're still trying to get the final grade for one of her classes; I do not think the teacher bothered to review the 6 pending submissions and just gave the grade without those assignments added but I cannot get a response from her and Edgenuity directs you to contact the teacher.

Absolutely No Customer Service
November 27, 2020
Previous review

If you need any type of assistance from Edgenuity, forget asking via their customer service route. They do not respond. If you're lucky, one of your child's 6 teachers may respond to your email and help you. That's what thankfully helped us out. For something as critically important as your child's high school education (and grades for college applications) you would rightfully expect the platform provider to respond within a timely manner to a request for assistance. My student who had an A- avergage in the brick and mortar school is currently getting Cs, Ds and Fs due to the demanding time frame (she's at 25%-35% completion and "actual" should be 50%) but for the curriculum she has covered she says she feels she is learning more than what the teachers at school taught. It's a shame her GPA will not reflect it. (This is an issue for the local school board.)

Awesome Content
November 25, 2020

As a veteran teacher, I have been most impressed with the lessons on Edgenuity. The content is solid. The lesson process is a scaffolding process which is exactly what should be taking place in the traditional classroom. The quizzes and test are thorough. They do require more than rote memory. They require that you have paid attention to each lesson and can apply the information presented to you. THIS is where traditional classrooms are deficient. Many times the teacher makes the class wait on students who were absent or have special needs. Edgenuity does not make you wait. You are only accountable to yourself.

I have all B+ and A- in my classes, and I don't really hate it that much. But I feel like i need to state my opinion, anyways, Edgenuity is below perfect for many reasons, it takes the amount of time it takes for a tree to grow for the teachers to say one singular word. Remember that one thing i said about my grades? Those were cheated! Yeah! This website barely teaches anything, whenever there's a lesson being taught, my brain goes into sleep mode and everything I hear goes into one ear and out the other. Onto the glitches, sometimes whenever I go onto an assignment, some parts will just not show up, and I am required to either go back to last part and go to the next part again or straight up just reload the assignment. Also it takes everything a long time to load in general (might be cause I use Microsoft Edge)
Basically, if you don't want to get Timmy Turner'd when you go to public, if you see Edgenuity then run 100 meters away from it and burn it with fire.

Not great but not bad
December 31, 2020

I went to customer service for a complaint. The agent who help didn't say anything like, "I'm sorry this happened" or, "I hope you don't experience something like thos again." He was also very slow to respond to the messages I sent.

I have contacted support several times about the sound being so low that students can not hear it. I have not received any substantial answers except to try closed captions, try another server or device. I feel that these options are very disrespectful and dismisses to students who might be struggling with various learning issues or financial difficulties. Reading at a quick pace in closed captions doesn't work for everyone and not all students have access to multiple devices within the home or the financial stability to access a new one. Consequently several of my students are falling behind and getting very frustrated. I have tried recording the videos for my students but since the video pops up in a separate screen it doesn't record the video or audio. I don't feel that this platform is equitable for all and really only works well for students who are financially stable, learning issue free, and have had the opportunity for a well structured life and education.

Support team lady was so kind, helpful, professional, knowledgeable, expert and positive in her response to the issue that we had. She provided all best possible options to help us. There were some technical challenges as it was the weekend when we called for help. She was very attentive to listen our issues. I will give 101 out of 100 to her for the extended support.

My son is very smart so, school decided to put him in his own math path after conducting some math tests including edgenuity. He likes everything about edgenuity except for the assignments that contains for example "explain why it is wrong or write it in sentences", even though he explained it in nice way, he is not scoring for that answer because, I think "AI" is searching for some other keywords or phrases. If an assignment contain two of these questions, out of ten, he is scoring only for other 8 questions. He is complaining a lot about this and sometimes he is getting frustrated because he knows the answers and not scoring enough.

I'm floored by the negative comments (mostly made by parents) on this site. I've taught credit recovery for 28 years and used Edgenuity at the high school for all of our credit recovery classes. We had nothing but positive reviews from parents and students and we were very successful with students making up courses that they had failed in the regular classroom.

Boring/Repetitive
August 3, 2024

The people who talk are very monotone and boring and the content is very repetitive. The videos could take 10 minutes long, when it could take 2 minutes. > :( Wish I could rate it 0 stars.

This might be the worst online schooling available, they dont know you, care about you, and want you to get it wrong so bad. And the "teachers" just make everything harder and, in my opinion, suck at their job. They basically say "Hey, hope you are doing good!" Thats it. If you are considering switching to edgenuity from another form of school, dont waste your time.

It sucks
June 26, 2024

Edgenuity Review:

I'm in the math course on Edgenuity, and my experience with it has been far from satisfactory. The most glaring issue is the video content. The videos yap on endlessly without allowing you to skip through them, making the experience incredibly tedious. The inability to skip these monotonous lectures not only wastes valuable time but also fails to engage students effectively.

Moreover, the overall structure of the lessons feels uninspired. The content is dry and doesn't cater to diverse learning styles, making it difficult for students to retain information. The interactive elements are minimal and do little to break the monotony of the video lectures. It's also alarmingly easy to get sidetracked, as the content fails to capture and maintain student interest, leading to frequent distractions.

To anyone considering Edgenuity for their educational needs, I strongly advise against it. The platform seems more focused on presenting information in a rigid, unengaging format rather than facilitating genuine learning. It becomes apparent that the people running Edgenuity are more interested in profit than in providing a quality educational experience.

The company's approach seems to prioritize revenue over student success, creating a system that churns out content without regard for its effectiveness. The lack of genuine interactivity and student engagement indicates a fundamental disconnect between the platform's creators and the educational needs of its users. Save your money and look for alternative resources that offer a more interactive and flexible approach to education. No one learns effectively from Edgenuity's method.

RUN DON'T WALK
October 20, 2023

I'm in virtual school because it's better for me we previously were using Edmentum last year and they made us try this new website Edgenuity. THIS APP SUCKS! I'm constantly having plagiarism issues and I use Grammarly to help with plagiarism checker as well as grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I don't know how many times my teachers have been just as confused as me when they say I have plagiarism but I show them proof I have none and they don't know why this is happening every week. I've complained to my teachers about this website so many times and how much it doesn't work and how sometimes it just fails you if you miss one assignment and it also doesn't let you go over some tests so you know which questions to work on and it just is like "oh well hope you know which questions you missed up on". I hated this website so much and loved edmentum so much more.

I am a teacher and what would have taken me less than 30 seconds to fix took over 3 months. Just needed the misleading wording of a test question to be fixed. Submitted ticket 11/13 and was fixed on 2/18. In between just messages saying we apologize for the delay and are reviewing the submission. If it takes that long that tells you the volume of issues far outweighs their staff to fix them. It's the most counterproductive system for teachers not to be able to edit content once they create their own copy of the course. Also, the most time-consuming platform for grading and entering grades.
