The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

It seems they are using shipping as a way to make money. First, I looked at an auction in Baltimore. But it turned out most of the items were in Ohio at their warehouse. So, I would have to pay for shipping. Other issue is that shipping estimate is much lower than actual cost. So you must be careful or be in Blue Ash, OH. Not worth the trouble.
I used Ebth for the first time to buy a table. I was very disappointed with the condition of the table. I think there is an inherent problem with the way the furniture was described. First of all I looked at hundreds of pieces of furniture and virtually all were rated good with just a few rated fair. It's hard to compare when all are rated the same. In short, Ebay is better able to give the buyer a clear understanding of what they are buying. Also, Ebth does not have a place on their site where each sale is evaluated. I think they would soon be out of business. Part of the issue is that I should certainly have researched how Ebht works. I deserve part of the blame. I may dislike ebay but bottom line is that ebay knows exactly what they are doing. Ebth needs major changes. It will be a long time before I use them in the future.
Bought an item on 12/21/17 it was shipped on 1/4/18. With the slow shipment, the shipping charge was outrageously high.
I watched my bid on a John Hardy bracelet thru the last second, which I was the highest bidder... and then I got a message it was out bid by $10. After it was over. THIS IS PLACE IS A RIP OFF. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS SITE!
Shipping is a huge profit maker. Always check before you bid. If you refuse to ok bid they ship anyway. If you contact customer service they say they will have to call you back and dont. Buyer beware
Packing and shipping with EBTH is hit-or-miss. I have received items that were wrinkled and creased from being packaged in too small a bag. I have received items so overpacked that I wonder what I am paying for. Shipping charges are wildly disproportionate to the item. For example, shipping charge for two dresses from Blue Ash is $177.00 (yes, $177.00). In the same sale, same dress manufacturer, shipping was $9.82 (for one dress). Obviously, an error. Customer service was not helpful. I pointed out that I would refuse the shipment and would open a dispute with my credit card company if they charge me $177.00 in shipping. I am in the process of liquidating two houses/estates and would never use EBTH. They are untrustworthy and not helpful. Once this issue is resolved, I will not buy from them again. Or be a seller. BEWARE!
Rugs, cheap jewelry, knives, really bad art EBTH has become a dumping grounds for questionable goods flooding the site, things listed more than once to pump up item count, skyrocketing shipping costs, nonexistent customer service. All strong indications of a desperate failing business.
This is an update to a review I wrote about a year ago.
Everything ONLY looks good on photos. Super ridiculous high shipping fee handling fee plus tax and not accept return at all! I received three broken items and highly doubt they ps their photos... be very careful...
If you are purchasing something you'd like to receive undamaged, you've come to the wrong place. Their ATROCIOUS packing practices led to my repeatedly receiving ruined products. These are irreplaceable, vintage items! Refunding my purchase price is NOT going to bring them back!
So I started using them only for local sales, where I could pick up. Problem solved!
Ooooooh, no. They now make it a practice to gather items from my local sales, send them to their warehouse, and charge me for shipping them back to my town! What?!
That's it, ebth. You've got nothing left for this buyer.
July 2016, I bid on a vintage Victorian chair and then later a vintage Victorian loveseat. It took them two months to send both items to me. The chair ($190 chair + $125 white glove shipping) arrived in non-salvageable pieces and shards inside the box. They wouldn't give me my money back or try to help me. A couple weeks later, the sofa ($825 sofa + $350 white glove delivery) arrived in pieces, so I refused the delivery because no part of "but first let me break your antiques into a million slivers" is white glove deliver". I tried to call the company the same day no answer, tried emailing, no answer. So I waited to hear back from them when they would receive the damaged item back. Over a year later, heard nothing back. So I contacted them and now they won't even help me resolve the issue. They told me the couch was delivered to me and that's all they can do. So now I'm out over $1500 and no items in hand.
I Won the bid for two French provincial side chairs.
They were $130. I was supposed to pick them up the following weekend in Cincinnati. My son plays football and was injured and had to be taken to the hospital. So I contacted them explain the situation and did not hear back from from them for almost a week. When I finally did hear back from them they told me they were charging me $120 to pick them up from a warehouse in Cincinnati they said that would cover the labor for moving down from the home to the warehouse. I don't think they paid their workers $120 to move two chairs that I could carry by myself from one area of Cincinnati to their warehouse.
I was also told if I did not pick those chairs up by a certain date the next step would be they would simply ship them from Cincinnati to Dayton and charge me over $300 to do so. Long story short I agree with everyone did not let them hang onto your credit card they will charge you for whatever they want and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it except dispute it through your bank. I have had my own estate sale company previously I have never handle things like these people do!
Buyer beware
I never write reviews but this is an exception.
The terms listed on the EBTH site, which I read thoroughly, changed when they sent me the invoice. They originally required a credit card which they said that they would charge, including shipping, if I did not pay for the item. I paid. They exceeded even the OUTSIDE shipping date. There was one lie after another for months. They knowingly deceive their customers.
Several months later I decided to give them another try. It was a repeat performance. Lies and rudeness.
Whatever you do, DO NOT give them your credit card number. Nothing is worth the prolific frustration of working with these people.
I a recent purchase I made weighed less than 5 oz I was charged nearly $15 to ship it. And shipping takes forever. I have made my last purchase from them.
Be aware. The shipping charges are outrageous. Purchased two SMALL paintings -- nothing bigger than 14 inches by 12 inches. The shipping charge for each was over $125.00! I will never do business with EBTH again - and you should never start!
I've been buying here for a while. I've noticed that certain locations will not ship your items for weeks. I've emailed with no response... their customer service is a joke.
Sites I avoid are Charleston SC and Lexington KY. Blue Ash always ships right away and the items are good. Shipping is a big overcharge but at least you know before you purchase. I do suspect shilling.
I bid on an item and it stayed at a certain amount where I was the highest bidder until microseconds before the end of the auction. Curiously, another bidder came in and bid up the item to the exact same amount as the maximum number I was willing to bid for the item, which happened to be significantly more than what I had been winning the item for for days. I don't believe that there was another last second bidder with the exact same maximum as me no matter what they tell me. I believe they extracted every last cent they could from me.
Additionally, the item arrived damaged. I didn't even bother contacting EBTH about the damage, because no doubt they would have an excuse for that as well. Please, think carefully about doing business with these people. I wish I had never gotten involved.
I have been bidding with EBTH since June 2016 and month by month they get progressively worse. This is the 3rd time that I have bid on something in my area (Charlotte) to find out the actual address is in another freaking state. I make sure I check the pick up address since I refuse to pay such ridiculous shipping charges. The website says one thing and then you get a notice that your credit card has been deducted for exorbitant shipping charges. You then call to complain about why the website says Charlotte only to find out the physical pick up address is almost 3 hours away. I only paid $12 for the item and the shipping was $60. The staff are rude and combative and absolutely no help at all. The very last time I will be dealing with this company. They refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes and the customer is always paying the price.
They have the most rude service you will ever receive. Very unprofessional. I'm very sure they are shilling the bids. They say this stuff is from estate sales when in actuality alot of it is from other sites they are reselling. Shipping fees are outrageous.
EBTH IS MAKING IT APPEAR THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF BIDDERS THEY ARE ILLEGALLY DRIVING THE PRICES UP SO YOU CAN PAY MORE FOR THE ITEMS THAY PURCHASED FROM THE SELLER AT A FRACTION OF THE COST.
There are always really great finds. I am always happy with the quality of the items and how fast they are shipped out to me! I loved the buying experience so much, I now am selling things I had laying around my home that I didn't know had some much value!
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
