The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

Dont buy art. They described in such away that they appear to be purposely trying to deceive their costomer
Be very careful on what you bid for, a lot of the items you could probably find at your local thrift store for a tenth of the price.
EBH has beautiful things, some you've grown up with, others you've always wanted. Always fun to try for something special ~ I have a few and I'm smiling :)
I only buy jewelry and watches. Very accurate descriptions; if there's a problem, I can always talk to someone who listens well and each time, fixed the problem quickly. Easy site to navigate and the bidding seems honest. I have seen other reviews that are quite negative; however, in the category that I shop, there have been no negative surprises, as long as you read everything in the description. The jewelry arrives quickly, and completely protected; always in good shape.
Do not trust these rip-off artists. I "won" an item on auction, which cited UPS delivery. More than a month later, after no communications, had not received. They tried to upsell me to more expensive shipping, which I refused. Another month, no merchandise. After they refused a refund I attempted a chargeback through my credit card company, which through blatant lies they were able to overcome. They now claim I have forfeited the item, so I am out the item and the cash. Additionally, they claim the terms state I must go through binding arbitration IN OHIO to have my case heard. Going to try MA small claims court anyway.
Meanwhile, STAY AWAY from these lying cheaters.
Their "experts" are not on staff and could be anyone. Therefore, sell fakes that have been "Authenticated" and don't allow returns, even when you point out obvious facts that prove the item is a fraud. AVOID THIS SITE. It's all very beautiful butyou have no recourse when they rip you off.
I have to not go on the website, only once a week or I get obsessed. The items offered are so eclectic and unique. And customer service is outstanding!
I've purchased from EBTH for over 4 years now, and I've always had a great buying experience. I buy local furniture, which I know I can pick up at the house for free. I've even drove to Lexington, KY, and as far as Columbus, and Cincinnati OH to pick up furniture for free. When I do buy things that have to ship, I understand the shipping rate is higher, because this isn't an Amazon, or a Wayfair... I love that I'm buying from a family based business. I once had a framed piece of art come to me with shattered glass, but when I called customer service, they paid to replace the glass without question or hesitation, and were genuinely empathetic to my experience. I sing from the rooftops that EBTH is my favorite pass time when looking to find one of kind stuff online. I'm tired of shopping mass produced... EBTH finds original pieces, and the employees that work in the homes have always been very nice to work with.
I purchased an item on EBTH on Feb 27,2018 and today is March 12 and it still has not arrived. To add insult to injury they charged me $8 sales taxes & handling fees on an item not in my state and $13 shipping for UPS sure post for an item that cost me $73. So overall I paid $20 more than my winning bid and two weeks later I still do not have the item! I will not be shopping here again! Stay away from this ripoff site. I wish I'd read these reviews FIRST.
Misrepresentation: They would list and item as "Good" even if it is chipped or missing a piece. I purchased porcelain items that were listed as good and when I received it it was chipped.
Mishandling: I went to pick up my items that apparently were in a curio that was sold and the buyer came to pick before me therefore the had move the items out of the curio and broke half of them in the process.
Inflated Shipping: The shipping cost is way more than the shipping cost using any known shipping service. May be they make a bit of money on shipping as well. Be prepared to pay for shipping sometimes more than what you paid for the item itself
I bid and won the auction on a dagger, paid for it, received it in 7 days from end of auction. This is my first time buying something from etbh, everything went very smoothly for me.
Misrepresented facts of Antique Clock to increase bidding. Will never recoup cost. NEVER use these people.
EBTH is a good source, however, I have made my last bid and win. The shipping prices are ridiculous as compared to other auctions. My last purchase was $41. And shipping 121.40? The items are all from same place, but they do NOT make one shipment. Reasons were so silly, they have them wrapped prior to bidding and can't send together. The next thing is the amount of time to receive, items took from 10 days to 2 1/2 weeks to be received? If they are wrapped & ready to go? Sorry but this company is making a fortune from shipping. Don't mind paying but check other auctions that are just as good with excellent shipping cost & time. After two weeks on an item I won and did so want, contacted them, 2 more weeks and they returned $$. Bad bad bad. NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.
237 one star reviews! Besides the well known fact that these people Price gouge the item winners on their auction site with inflated shipping charges to make extra money. They charged me for an item I did not receive because their system ran it for 30 days and I was out of town for 28 days. I never received it and after my query as to where it was they said that it had been re sold and that I did not get my money back. Very simply that is stealing. I was not home to put money in the account I was using for them so the item should have gone back to auction and I would have lost it but no they decided to keep my money and sell it again. That is fraud and after 6 emails they refunded the shipping charge since they did not ship it but they did not refund the money that I paid for the item and said it was just too bad. I am a professional business owner and I have never heard of anything like that in my life. They even kicked out my account as a trouble maker. I've bought over 40 items from them... unbelievable
I bought several items from EBTH. ALL of them took over ten days to ship no matter where they were shipping from. When I tried to call customer service to inquire about one of the orders, "Lainey" my customer service rep just kept cutting and pasting a blurb about the ten day processing time (maybe "Lainey was a poorly written bot and not human lol who knows). When I asked for a manager, "Lainey" said she was blocking the chat. I then decided to close my account at that point and will never buy from them again. There is no transparency as to what is really going on as to where the items are located, and who is actually bidding on the items (like ebay has). Items always seem to mysteriously have a price close to the retail replacement value, especially jewelry lol. Anyway, there are too many other companies and websites to buy interesting items from. I could not be less happy with EBTH. Stay away!
I used EBTH to empty my in-laws condo and was very pleased with the experience. The packing team was very pleasant and professional, and my assigned project manager communicated regularly throughout the process. My family and I were very impressed with the research, photography and marketing of the items. The icing on the cake was watching the sale end and the prices being paid for the items. I'm a realtor and will definitely recommend EBTH to my clients.
Never ever buy or sell there!
If you are a buyer - be ready to pay outrages ridiculous fee for unfair shipping. They have no idea of USPS Media Mail for books or media items, you'll pay full price for USPS Priority or FedEx plus high handling fees. Even for local buyers they require shipping. Just imagine that you have to pay about $40.00 per an item instead of going to pick it up few blocks away. For a similar item on eBay from East Coast to West Coast you'll pay only half of that shipping fee.
I was talking to their customer service and they tried to convince me that this local shipping idea was created specifically for buyer's convenience.
Yeah right!
If you are a seller - avoid selling with them. You'll get a lot less bidders on your items because most locals don't bid, as winning adds a lot of $$ for shipping to the selling price. And there are not to many outsiders who will bid on your items. Be ready that you get bids near few $$ or none.
One more thing I'd like to mention - I bought several times from them and there is always some lack of description. Items I got were described poorly, have a lot of imperfections or slight damage. Compared to Amazon or eBay you have no protection from this seller and remember their customer support strongly believes that anything they do is for customer satisfaction.
You may see other "satisfied" customers with many more reviews here and in other places.
Just never ever buy or sell with enth.com!
Bought speakers for $2000. Took my money fast enough but no info on shipment. Waited 8 weeks contacted shipper. They said no idea talk to EBTH. EBTH doesnt know where they are. Need 5-7 business days to look. I was told by Customer Service, Things often get lost in the warehouse. We will give you a refund. How is it, they didnt know this wasnt shipped? Seems they only care about the front end process; sell and collect the money. Buyer beware!
When EBTH started out, they lived up to their name: Everything But the House. They would sell everything so that the sellers, generally the adult children of aging parents or parents who had passed, would have a one-stop shop to clean out a now un-needed house for sale. So, when the time came when my parents moved into an assisted living facility, I advised my sister and parents to use them. I was not terribly bothered by the high mark-ups on valuable items, because I saw that as off-setting the cost of them selling small-ticket items and literally selling everything but the house! BIG MISTAKE. THEY ARE NOT EVERYTHING BUT THE HOUSE. They are now, "we're going to sell your best stuff of our choosing, charge a ridiculous amount to do it, and leave you with a house full of stuff that you are going to wind up spending all the money we made you to deal with so that you are really no better off than when we started." I would never use them again. If you choose to use them, make damn sure you know just how much crap you are going to have to deal with yourself so you know what it will really cost to sell, "everything but the house."
Stay away from this company unless you can pick up locally. They scamming clients with their new procedures. They ship from local area back to Ohio for shipping to you. Im sure youre paying all shipping to all locations. Then they up it with insurance. This is warned when you pick shipping that the cost could increase. They dont treat customers very well when they have problems. Other things, most items broke when shipped, some items takes months to ship. Ive been buying from them for about a year so Im not new like some of the people on here. I just want to delete my account. I give them no stars because I think they are crooks. This website made me give them one star before I could submit a review.
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
