Ebay says free selling for private sellers yet i am selling something for £3 and they are reselling it for £3.84 and are making 87p thats almost 30% What a rip-off! They call it buyer protection, yet I have to lower my price to get to the selling price—eBay scam.
I am so frustrated today with eBay, mostly connected with their February 4 payment changes and it's impact on selling, but also with their customer service. Basically I have sold for 8 years off and on and have over 60 reviews all giving me 5 stars. On Friday I sold an item, the customer beat me down by £10 so the profit margin was cut. The customer paid £40. I went to post it and the PO told me that as it was only an envelope it wasn't suitable for tracking unless I wished to pay next day at £8.50. I declined. I sent it first class. Next day the customer had it and wrote a top review thanking me for swift service. It's now Wednesday night and no payment. I get customer services and an agent who cuts and pasted the new manual to me about the 48 hour delay on payments. I ask for a manager and get Laura. Laura annoyed me even more. She told me 14 days till I get my money for something the customer has reviewed as arrived and thanked me for. She hid behind the nothing she could do. I am never selling on eBay again. They have lost me as a customer forever.
It was a good platform years ago but now is full of scammers, liars and criminals. EBay will take no action against the crooks and all they are interested in is getting their charges. They have let it sink to such a low level I would avoid it.
I've purchased on ebay for many years and they used to be good. In July purchased a trolley to use on the beach for £45. It arrived with a missing wheel - useless. I contacted the seller who said he would send a wheel. It never arrived despite a number of messages between us. I contacted ebay on a number of occasions for help but it is not possible to get a human. I did get emails from them, but not specific to my problem. Now the timing for negotiating has ended and I have a useless trolley in the garage and the seller has kept my £45 under false pretence. The seller would not send me an address where I could return the trolley. Worst of all despite trying to contact Customer Services all I get are...goodness knows what they are, but it is impossible to get help. The seller has got away with my money and no help from eBay. I shall be very cautious using them from now on. My son-in-law swears by Amazon, so maybe I will change.
Honestly, its very poor platform to sell products.
I sold my items and Ebay stop my payments,
There was nothing wrong from my side, i gave them proof,
But Ebay didn't give me my payments,
Now they told me i will get my money after 6 months so very bad experience.
New seller should be careful,
Because anytime ebay can block you and stop your payment coming from customer and it left in ebay account
The costs of selling on ebay when I started selling were 2%. They are now 12.8% plus their silly little add on fees. You can be at 20 % basically.
For this you have to do all hard work...not ebay.
Basically its at the point were its no longer worth it.
The final straw for me was they asked for people to keep there postage costs at a reasonable level.
Then a year later they decided to charge you a fee on your postage as well as the item.
Use facebook its FREE!
£180 Charged for a £615 camera sale with two days promo absolutely shocking.pressed promote item to check details and it when active without warning.Do not sell on ebay unless u don't mind losing money.Shame use to be a good site to sell before they got gready.
Will never sell on here again and reckon many more stu g by this outfit wont either demise of a once honourable firm before they became a rip off.
When buying clothes I always select 'UK only' as the sizes are accurate and I expect a decent quality item. I find that selecting 'UK only' means nothing now. It may say the item is a UK seller but when you look into it you'll find the shop is actually in China. This has caused much disappointment and a waste of my time and money. The sizes are all wrong and the quality is very very poor. The item never looks like what's in the picture and trying to return the item becomes a real pain in the $#*!.
I complained to ebay but never received a reply.
Ebay used to be good but find myself veering away from it now.
An active eBayer we're leaving after 16 years! No seller protection and dreadful customer service - do not use them! We received 2 negative feedback from the same buyer who decided to make us aware he was based in Philippines after the auction ended. Our adverts explicitly stated UK postage only and we explained to the buyer that our courier (Evri) does not insure items outside of UK. We reported it to eBay and got nowhere - absolutely awful customer service. Strongly advise you look at alternative platforms for selling and pay vastly reduced fees. At almost 20% fees you would expect a lot more in return than this especially after having 16 years!
Spent over 20 years on and off using ebay to sell. Don't waste your time. I've been scammed so many times now. Scammers are getting police to witness empty parcels now so buyers can get their money back from ebay cases and keep the item. It's a sad world. Yes, you will lose your item and your cash!
If you want to sell any item DON'T use this site they keep your money after selling the item for 3 weeks and if the buyer breaks it in that time ebay will refund them and you lose out and receive nothing, customer service stinks and they don't even know there own policies. Use Facebook marketplace and be careful of the scammers on there just don't send items by post let the buyer collect it to protect yourself.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee feels like an empty promise. I bought a mouse from HP on eBay, and Parcelforce, the courier, failed to deliver it. Despite the driver never attempted deliveries on both days, I was home both times and no one showed up. I contacted HP, who initially said they would request a return, and once they had the item back, they would refund me. The mouse was indeed returned to HP, but now they're saying they can't issue a refund.
I then turned to eBay's Money Back Guarantee, which turned out to be just as ineffective. EBay told me to contact Parcelforce for a letter stating the driver hadn't come—a ridiculous request. EBay can see, from Parcelforce's tracking, that the parcel was returned to the seller. Yet they're asking me to chase Parcelforce instead of requiring HP to do so.
The stress and time I've spent over a mouse of £10 is outrageous. I contacted customer service, but they refused to issue a refund and closed the case. When I asked about filing a formal complaint, the advisor said they only accept "feedback to improve services," which seems absurd for a company that's been around for 25 years and serves millions of customers.
After being a customer since 2005, this experience has convinced me never to buy anything from eBay again. This is how they treat loyal customers.
I purchased an item from eBay, which was supposed to be delivered via Royal Mail. Unfortunately, the Royal Mail postman left the item in our building's communal area without notifying me. There is a clear notice in the communal area stating that any unattended items will be disposed of without notice. Consequently, my item was lost.
When I contacted eBay, they instructed me to reach out to Royal Mail. Upon contacting Royal Mail, they advised me that the seller should be the one to get in touch with them. However, eBay continued insisting that I obtain information from Royal Mail and relay it to them. For two months, I found myself caught between eBay and Royal Mail, with neither party willing to take responsibility. The seller should have been responsible for contacting Royal Mail regarding the lost item.
EBay's customer service proved to be ineffective and unprofessional in handling such a complex issue. It seems they are trained solely to protect their reputation, diverting customers back and forth until they eventually give up in frustration. Ultimately, I was left disappointed and frustrated
Ebay is holding my funds from a product I sold over the time limit and without previous harming. They have already the funds for fees but still holding my funds. Unacceptable and despicable from Ebay.
I've used eBay since 1994. It was first awesome, went to good and now is a money grabbing, low quality service entity. I sold a chair at the weekend - £1. No postage as pick up. £1.60 went to eBay for final sales fee and fixed sales price. I've been charged 10% of postage before too. I'll no longer use it for Selling unless the fees come back down again. Just turned into a money grabbing entity. Sad - as it was epic in its day - however it's ownership has changed, so that probably explains a lot.
Ripped off by this seller highly recommended by eBay. Speaker broken after six months despite careful use. Seller accused me of breaking it intentionally. Nothing from eBay. Having spent £660 on eBay during 2022 I will now not buy from here in future
I purchased two books of stamps on eBay, 6 weeks later I was informed by the Royal Mail that they were counterfeit.
I reported them to eBay 6 times before they removed the listings. However they have refused to issue a refund because it's outside of the 30 day money back guarantee.
It is eBay's responsibility to make their selling platform a safe place for buyers. They have failed once again.
I've had to close down 3 accounts now all because of chancer buyers and incompetent royal mail with not updating tracking details. Ebay doesn't protect sellers. Its all a load of crop please believe me
After carefully following all terms and conditions to qualify for an eBay provided 20% discount promotion, it did not work. I have so far spent 26 days and close to 50 messages trying to get the discount. So say that they are unhelpful and the customer service offered is appalling puts it mildly. Why would you run a business like this?
I purchased an item through eBay, the item has not arrived. EBay is making every excuse in favour of the seller, allowing them extra time for the item to arrive. When they should have the seller blocked, and refund me my hard-earned cash. I have been a member since 2007. And they could not care less about me. Their attitude on chat is deplorable and arrogant. I am closing my account shortly and I would advise anyone thinking of opening one or thinking of purchasing anything through eBay to think long and hard before doing so. They are the worst to communicate with, you cannot email, it is blocked. I've tried phoning only to be cut off after several minutes on hold. Chat is stressful and a total waste of time. Be Warned!
Answer: Customer service doesn't exist. They never answer, unless you're threatening to cost them big money.
Answer: It varies. Each item has an estimated date to you. Look closely at the page, underneath the item where it describes the shipping.
