I tried Dropbox for business with their "free" trial - I didn't even use the service, just wanted to explore. I missed the cancellation date and they charged me over $1300. 00. Can you believe that? I called thinking they would refund me as any other trial offer typically does and they will not refund it or even pro rate it. What a scam of a company! Don't Try the trial and DO NOT deal with their poor and unprofessional customer service. I'll be canceling my personal account and encouraging my colleagues and friends to use a service that is ethical and helpful. Very disappointed in this company.
It is impossible to contact anyone! I, in error, signed-up for the business dropbox, which I don't need. I used the 30 day free trial. There was something about $12.50/month, so i wasn't too worried about going passed the 30 days. On days 31 my paypal account got hit with $750! I am only able to contact through email. Several days later I received a response saying they would be happy to help but don't see the charge on my paypal (yeah, right) I immediately responded with necessary info. That was 4 days ago. They Suck!
I opened a business account using my personal credit card for a start up. Company went under and I closed the account. 7 months later they charge my credit card! To make matters worse - you can't get in touch with them. If you call, you are routed to press this and that until they tell you to go to the help section of their website. The website does the same until it looks like you can submit - but that doesn't work. It won't submit! And live chat? Please go to the help center for further assistance. Crooks.
They are literally the worst.
They offer no phone support.
I have been in an email battle for over a week trying to get them to take off $500 in charges that showed up without my permission. They offer no help, no investigation as to how that happened, no resolve. They maintain a very "whatever" attitude about the billing error. At one point they even stopped responding. Maybe $500 isnt a lot to them, but it is to those of us who budget our money. I certainly never had $500 for dropbox in it, nor did i sign up for it. This is robbery.
Dropbox offers a free 30 day trial. If you do not cancel, they automatically sign you up for a business account costing $300.00. Then there is no one "authorized" to provide you with support. I had to cancel my debit card to assure they did not continue to charge me for a service that I did not ask for or even use once. Beware!
I get this message for months: " This account's links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled! "
It seems they banned my shared and Public folder links due to bandwidth limits... The truth is that they try to force users to upgrade.
But i'm sure that my links are NOT generated that much traffic!
They NOT even respond to messages! Emails, facebook page, nothing!
I used dropbox for two years and enjoyed their services; but I cancelled in 2012 because I no longer needed those services. I called twice to cancel services because it wasn't done the first time. In 2014 they decided to start charging my card again. I didn't discover it until this year and that's my fault.
Word to the wise - if you take the service make sure you want to keep it - because they don't turn loose of your credit card info. I've been charged $400 in error and no one has contacted me.
If you sign up for the Dropbox Business trial, you will be charged whatever they like after your trial period. I had 2 users signed up and after my trial was over they charged me for 5 team members or $80 worth of services. I attempted to reason with them about the amount of people we had using the service and if we could prorate the amounts - but no, they would not help or refund in any way due to "terms of service". Terrible customer support and even worse business ethics!
I work for a major multi billion dollar car company. We signed up for Dropbox to get signatures on certain legal documents. Nothing complicated. The price they quoted seemed like it would suffice but when we actually tried using their service, suddenly we needed to upgrade to a much more expensive program that went from $200 to $1200. I needed their services so we just paid it! Since it was synced with my folders and files on the company's network, Dropbox somehow was able to actually move some of my personal files into DropBox, one being my personal and business passwords to all my accounts. I had to move that entire folder back to my hard drive but many passwords were deleted when I did that. I contacted a Dropbox website customer service and never heard from anyone ever! When it came around to cancel my subscription with my company, they would not allow me to sign in without a 6 digit code which I still, to this day, cannot get. So how do I cancel a subscription without being able to log on. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Even paying over $5k per year for a business account you can't get a response from customer service.
There are no account reps and one form to fill out to get service.
I was promised a discount at 26 users - as soon as we hit 25 I asked for it. "Sorry only at 50 users!"
Their new pricing plan will take my company from $5000 to $8000 per year (20 per user per mo) and we will LOSE functionality! Insane. Good luck.
I too am a victim of Dropbox's deceptive practices and am out the yen equivalent of $750. I am a retired professor and literary translator, scraping by. My wife, who is furious, worked for two months at her part-time job to earn the equivalent of what Dropbox has stolen from us. I never used Dropbox, not once, and feel like an idiot. But I am obviously not alone, though that shouldn't, I suppose, be comforting.
Thieves. I canceled Dropbox Pro in February but still got charged for March. I contacted them via email and forwarded my cancellation email, and they still said there was nothing they could do. I had to call my bank to get the charge removed. Terrible business practice. Why fight me so hard for $9.99 and lose all future potential sales from me?
I used to love Dropbox- it was basically how I backed up my computer. However, I accidentally signed up for two paid accounts, and despite emailing them the day of, and letting them know, and despite their promises to cancel and refund the second account, none of this has happened. It’s been 3 months.
Dropbox.com is awesome! I share stuff with my friends and family on there. It also sends you a reminder every time you make a change to any of your files. How cool is that? You can also take dropbox on the go if you have one of them smart phones. I use it on my HTC phone and its so easy to access my files and docs.
Perhaps I shouldn't complain since I have a free account but I had personal, important (to me)files on Dropbox for several years. Occasionally I would use them and they was always there on Dropbox until today. They are gone. Not a file available under my special folder. When I went to contact them, they want a link to the disaster so I give them one. But their form will not take my link so I am unable to even complain. Thats why I'm here.
If you have files you need to keep do not rely on Dropbox because they will disappoint you they only hold files for 30 days(free). Get yourself a disk from WD or Seagate and don't trust any of these cloud type services. Learn from my mistake!
Dropbox is a sham. The company promises peace of mind to back up your important documents. In reality, when at least a quarter of my documents turned up missing the company blamed me, told me I had deleted the files, then told me I was out of luck. They have an "events" tab that tracks your activity and there was no event in that tab that would indicate I had deleted any files. But they don't even trust their own activity tracker! When I asked for a refund I was told they do not give refunds. The company does not deliver on what it promises, does not stand by their claims, and does not care about their customers. Don't trust them. I'm sure sorry that I did.
My wife and I have used dropbox for a few years. Several months ago I received a call from them stating that I was running out of space and needed more to save anymore information. Since I was unsure of how much activity my wife was using I purchased some additional space to be billed monthly on my credit card. A couple of months ago I realized I had plenty of unused space and could not find a way to cancel. So I disputed the charges with my credit card company. Apparently they know how to contact them. I am still searching for a way to cancel my agreement and discontinue any further relationship with them. Can anyone help?
We signed up for a 30 day trial for DropBox Business. We never received any sort of billing notice and suddenly got hit with a $1500 charge. When we called to ask why it was so much we were told that we had signed up for 100 licenses. We explained that we didn't need 100 licenses, only 5 for now, but they informed us that they had a "no refunds" policy and we were out of luck. When we requested to speak with somebody about adjusting our bill because that's not what we signed up for, we were told that nobody could speak to us.
These kind of preditory bait and switch tactics might be great for their short term bottom line, but in the long run this will ruin them. After the 30-day trial, we would have been happy to pay for 5 licenses for years and years, but instead we'll be taking our business elsewhere.
This app is terrible. I can not get anything to download from my cell after the initial download. The app is so slow it's killing me. I dont have hours upon hours to mess with this slow crap just to download my photos. Its not on my end, I have fiber internet and I am on a new computer. You won't be able to scroll through your pics smoothly, instead you can click down to scroll and wait a few minutes for it to move or catch up. I am very unsatisfied with this app. I just want to save my dam cell pics so i can free up space from the constant crap updates. What a giant head ache! Wish I could get my money back.
I needed access to some documents for a friend's film. They already had an account, but I needed to sign up to a business account to access the files... for $17 something per month. Then I suddenly find out from Paypal NOT Dropbox that I would charged $630... This is f---ing scam. What a bunch of rogues. I've logged a complaint with Dropbox and Paypal. If they take my money I will not be able to afford to eat. Stay away from this company!
Answer: TRUE THEY SCAMMED ME TOO!
Answer: SCAMMERS!
Answer: I hope there is a class action suit and I will join it.
Answer: Dropbox customer support will soft talk you into thinking they are helping to put a stop to their fraudulent charges, but in the end they actually do nothing. I don't believe they have an in-house system to stop credit card charges. There are many crooked companies that do business this same way as well. How many people don't read their credit card statement in full every month? And the dropbox folks rake in the fraudulent charges people don't catch. Call them, and they say "we're sorry" it won't happen again. I went through that three times and finally had to re-issue my card with a new number. Shown is a canned text statement below sent to people with billing problems: >"I will need all of the following information for security reasons and to locate the charge to assist you:"< > Card type First six digits of the card Last four digits of the card Full name on the credit card charged Date of charge Amount charged Billing postal code< "Dear Dropbox, If I spent the same amount of time, it takes to cancel a CC looking at the thousands of negative online reviews before I bought Dropbox I would be well ahead of the game. I added my negative review of dropbox to the many already online after I changed the CC number on my Visa, of course. And no, I will not give you any more cc numbers or names. Dropbox has a worldwide reputation of continuous charges once they get your number. Did you think I just fell off the turnip truck? LOL Goodbye Forever,"
Answer: I was unsuccessful as well. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card. It is still being investigated. My wife was successful in getting a refund on a new account that she never used, within 7 days of paying. She is the only one I know of that has done that successfully.
Dropbox has a rating of 1.9 stars from 210 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Dropbox most frequently mention credit card, customer service and free trial. Dropbox ranks 109th among Online Storage sites.
