Dropbox needs to really improve on their user functionality. On my Iphone it chooses to freeze up a lot. Also, it lags a lot when you want to delete and add stuff. I actually have tried Box and the two are pretty similar, but box offers more storage for less money.
I accidentally deleted a year's worth of photos on Dropbox that I had deleted on my computer. I didn't realise until after 30 days and despite being a Pro user at $100 per year, I need to pay an extra $50 to recover the files with Extended Version History. Not happy. I will cancel my Dropbox account.
By far the worst customer support. I have to keep repeating myself as they had me off to yet another rep. The question is simple: I have deleted all devices and changed the password, why do the devices automatically login without asking for the new password. Its been 4 weeks and no one can answer my questions.
Beware of their scam for the business license. They got me for $1000 and I'm just a home user. We paid to back up our photos for $9 and next thing I know hey charged $1000 to our credit card. I called 18 days later once I saw our statement and they said not refunds. I have no idea how this happened.
Stay away from Dropbox! I have been unable to downgrade or even cancel by "free" trial. Even after trying to contact the company through phone and live chat. They tried to charge me $700.00 the only way I was able to fix it was through declaring it fraudulent through my bank. Do not purchase this company needs to learn how to actually provide service.
Very disappointed in their service. They marked a dispute as "solved" and closed it even though they did not solve my problem. They have refused to offer a refund for service that was NEVER USED. I would definitely not recommend them due to these poor business practices.
This company is a joke. I have been trying to cancel since march. No response back. Going to cancel my credit card to get the charges to stop. Got to love a tech company that hides behind their bots.
Don't use Dropbox, use your cloud options for secure file transfers.
Good most of the time until you have issues and then it is a hassle getting a response from them. I would suggest that this is a great option for the person that has a business as they seem to reply to all of my friends business questions on her account.
Unbelievable how you baited and switched me on the business trial. You should be ashamed at your fraudulent tactics, lack of transparency and most importantly, customer service. If you take away $750 from my account and I call you about it, you can't just say too-bad, it's non-refundable. Not when you never listed the price of the service, never warned me for the charge authorization, and never sent me a receipt. You were able to TAKE my money. You can put it back. You just won't. Greed first, customer service later.
Dropbox is a good service, but there is a slight learning curve when one first start using them. I like the functionality - however they fall behinds some of their competitors for not having a Symbian application, and at least in Europe more people use that than Android or Iphone.
Great service for moving large files among people who don't have a common FTP or other server upload ability. Plenty of capacity for most usage (especially large graphic files like photos straight off your camera card). Free and very easy to use.
I've been using DropBox for almost 7 montsh now and I absolutely love the product. Easy to use, no issues whatsoever. BTW, their customer support team got in contact with me very quickly and resolved as soon as I had an issue.
Dropbox is a handy file sharing program used to share documents, photos and videos. I use dropbox on a day to day basis for taking work home with me being in the web design business. It is something I would definitely recommend if your always forgetting that pen drive! You can even get 2GB free and earn more space by inviting friends or colleagues and by doing other various tasks.
I`m using the service for sharing the files through all my devices - its easy and convenient. As for myself - I wouldnt recommend to store something really important here, but as a personal cloud storage this one works great!
One of the first cloud services, always worked good but latest updates are increasing the size of the app and make it less practical, with more functions that go unnoticed. A service like this one should merge with the user interface without adding more value than the one is supposed to offer: cloud storage. Still a good service but falling behind Google Drive and iCloud.
Dropbox support will NOT put a stop on future charges after they promised to stop charging our card on two different occasions. Your only option is to cancel the card number and the CC company will issue a new card with another number. You might get nasty letters from Dropbox just like I did. The trash can or shredder is a good place for the company along with the threat letters.
They're automatically billing me and I can't cancel this account. Nowhere in my account does it provide the option to cancel, and their email links lead nowhere. This is very fraudulent. I wouldn't recommend that anybody do business with them for any reason. No customer support line. Total dishonesty.
Tried to cancel and request a refund within 60 days of my membership because my company changed their reimbursement policy. I received the same canned response after several requests:
"Due to the policies outlined in our Terms of Service, we are unable to provide a refund for this transaction. Our terms state that all of Dropbox's Pro Plans auto-renew and will continue renewing until canceled."
Zero service, zero flexibility... they would not even consider a partial refund.
Drop Box was favorably reviewed by some big players such as PC Mag and CNET. That caught my attention, but what really pushed me over the edge was that my university (U of Hawaii) recommended it to students and faculty as a primary method of file sharing. It works very well and simply. My boss set it up on her computers by herself, and she is "computer illiterate," so I believe that it is simple enough for anyone to use.
They do not seem to sell your email. They generally do not send unsolicited emails, though they do send you a reminder after 30 days or so of no use.
I have not used the payed option, so I cannot comment on how they handle credit cards transactions, but they generally seem to be trustworthy.
In my opinion, DropBox is currently it is the best simple application of its kind out there. I highly recommend it.
Dropbox has become a very valuable tool for working on line with my Blog. It keeps my e-mail box open for e-mails without concern of having to wait for large attachment downloads. Everything is neatly stored in everyone's folder with whom I share files on a regular basis. This is a collaborators dream tool for your computer. The ability to use it right from your desktop is also a nice feature not having to go out on line to a website. Also the convenience of not having to carry a flash drive is also a perk when sharing files between your desktop and laptop. 500 Stars!
Answer: TRUE THEY SCAMMED ME TOO!
Answer: SCAMMERS!
Answer: I hope there is a class action suit and I will join it.
Answer: Dropbox customer support will soft talk you into thinking they are helping to put a stop to their fraudulent charges, but in the end they actually do nothing. I don't believe they have an in-house system to stop credit card charges. There are many crooked companies that do business this same way as well. How many people don't read their credit card statement in full every month? And the dropbox folks rake in the fraudulent charges people don't catch. Call them, and they say "we're sorry" it won't happen again. I went through that three times and finally had to re-issue my card with a new number. Shown is a canned text statement below sent to people with billing problems: >"I will need all of the following information for security reasons and to locate the charge to assist you:"< > Card type First six digits of the card Last four digits of the card Full name on the credit card charged Date of charge Amount charged Billing postal code< "Dear Dropbox, If I spent the same amount of time, it takes to cancel a CC looking at the thousands of negative online reviews before I bought Dropbox I would be well ahead of the game. I added my negative review of dropbox to the many already online after I changed the CC number on my Visa, of course. And no, I will not give you any more cc numbers or names. Dropbox has a worldwide reputation of continuous charges once they get your number. Did you think I just fell off the turnip truck? LOL Goodbye Forever,"
Answer: I was unsuccessful as well. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card. It is still being investigated. My wife was successful in getting a refund on a new account that she never used, within 7 days of paying. She is the only one I know of that has done that successfully.
Dropbox has a rating of 1.9 stars from 210 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Dropbox most frequently mention credit card, customer service and free trial. Dropbox ranks 109th among Online Storage sites.
