The company has established a strong reputation for its user-friendly platform and competitive pricing, with many customers praising the efficiency of the booking process and the helpfulness of customer service representatives. However, some concerns have been raised regarding communication issues, particularly related to flight changes and refunds, leading to frustration among users. While the majority of feedback highlights a positive experience, instances of delayed support and difficulties in correcting booking errors suggest areas for improvement. Overall, the company is viewed as a reliable option for budget-conscious travelers, yet it must enhance its customer service responsiveness.

They allow you to book a flight without baggage and then when you check into the flight you get a big surprise. I should not have been able to book the flight without baggage information. Other sites that offer similar services do a much better job of informing the customer before taking their money. Also, claiming it's not their responsibility because they're just a travel agency is nothing more than an excuse for poor customer service. Use a different company to book your flights. I wish I had.
Just wanted to make you all aware that I will recommend all of you to stay away from CheapOAir. This is a warning based on my personal experience. I booked a ticket from CheapOAir to India and the government suspended all international visa and foreign nationals to enter India in the month of March 2020 due to Covid-19. The flight was supposed to leave USA on March 15,2020 and return from India on March 27,2020.
I had to cancel the ticket and I was charged $400 as cancellation even though I have a written statement from the airline Air India that they will not charge any cancellation penalty till March 20,2020. I am still fighting and waiting for CheapOair to refund my money. They are in a denial mode that the airline is not refunding my money. I asked for a written statement but they keep telling me that a supervisor will call but its been 5 months now and no one cared to update me or at least call me.

Horrible lied twice refused to give refund or change dates was basically told not their problem and was passed to another agent who told me that I couldn't change my dates and couldn't get a refund even though my flight was cancelled and it was three weeks in advance. Shut this site down for fraud! WORST experience ever!
The ticket purchased did not allow changes or refunds as it is a basic economy fare.
If you could give a zero star review for this company, that still wouldn't be close to reflecting their service. It is now nearing on HALF A YEAR past when my flight was canceled and I was notified that I would receive a refund of which I have not received and still have no information on when/why/ and if I will ever receive it. I've sent emails back and forth with no straight answers. The only way I was able to get in contact with someone was by writing a bad review and having them contact me to take it down. It's been over a month since they contacted me and said they would reach out to their team and figure out the status of my refund and get back to me... I've heard nothing since, other then their request for me to take my review down. It seems they're more interested in protecting their image then in actually helping customers. I will never do business with this company again and urge anyone reading this to literally go through any other flight company out there but cheapoair.

I purchased on CheapOAir for the first time and came across many issues. The airlines continuously changed flights and the place we were traveling were closed due to covid19 restrictions. I called numerous times within a few weeks, but couldn't get a hold of anyone. I then wrote a letter and emailed it to the company. 3 months had passed and I still haven't heard back. Finally, I was able to get through with someone through the chat function. I informed them of the issue and they told me I had to contact the airlines myself. This was the first time I purchased through a 3rd party and will never do it again. If they were the ones who charged me the $$, they should be the ones to issue me the refund and handle the airline issue themselves. They're quick to take your money, but when issues arise that are out of the traveler's control, they will not accommodate you.
Additionally, the representatives were not able to help me and they continuously transferred me to so many other different representatives, to which I had to explain my issue all over again.
I will NOT be using their service in the future again.
Beware!
CANNOT UNDERSTAND AGENTS ACCENTS, COILDNT REACH CHANGE FLIGHT DEPARTURE. WAITED FOR 1 HOUR AND IT DISCONNECTED

I booked a flight to India through CheapOair("Cheapo") on 1/5/20. CheapOair booking number is ******* and airline confirmation is L*******. Flight 6034(KLM) was from Detroit Wayne, Michigan on 5/28/20 to New Delhi IGI, India. Return was from flight 878(KLM) from Mumbai, India on 6/13/20 to Detroit Wayne, Michigan. I paid Cheapo a total of $1,086.46 for this roundtrip.
My flight was cancelled due to COVID19 and as soon as I found out in March 2020, I called Cheapo and KLM to inquire about the next steps and to obtain a refund. I have called Cheapo since March 2020 to obtain a refund as my flight was cancelled.
After four months, I received a refund from Cheapo in late July 2020 but only for $660.51. I called KLM again and they confirmed that I should receive a full refund as my flight was cancelled. I called Cheapo about two weeks ago and their reply was that KLM did not update my ticket's flight status to cancelled, therefore I did not receive a full refund of $960.51 and was penalized $300. My father booked this same round-trip and we paid separately. He promptly received a full refund of $960.51 after calling Cheap only twice or so. They are treating their customers unequally and this is very wrong.
Both KLM and Cheapo have given me the runaround. I spoke to Cheapo on 8/2/20 to ask for an update. They told me that KLM only sent them $660.51 instead of a full refund amount and I was penalized for $300 for an unknown reason. However, KLM told me they sent the full refund amount of $960.51 to Cheapo. Please, please help me obtain the remaining $300 of the refund that is owed to me due to the flight being cancelled.
I have traveled with Delta, a KLM partner, for years so I did not expect this disregard for their customers. Please just give me the money I am owed so I can move on.
It's like they are reading the same script You can only have a future credit Due to airline. I explained that the country was closed so I wanted a refund. Was put on hold several time. But when I booked it was fast and easy but when I wanted a refund it so hard and I'm still waiting for help. On hold now still unacceptable

Used many times in the past. Ok prices. BUT, and this is a big but, if there are ANY issues with your flight, expect major headaches/no resolution. Especially with recent COVID issues, I would recommend NOT using this site or any 3rd party site.
Short story: Airline canceled flight. I called the airline for a refund (took 20 minutes on the phone). The airline stated they could not issue the refund as I had purchased via an agency, ie Cheapo, so I needed to ask them for a refund. It has now been over a month and 5-6 calls, all lasting greater than an hour (the majority of which is being on hold) and still, they have not been able to issue my refund. First stating they cant contact the airline (although it only took me 20 minutes). Each time I have to retell the story and dates as they apparently keep no/minimal records. They filed an online form with the airline on my behalf and the airline responded via email again stating I have to go through the agency. Despite my saying this is not the solution, Cheapo did it again saying maybe it'll work this time... So I just ended up placing a chargeback with my credit card company.
Long story short, they offer cheap tickets but the difference is NOT worth the hassle and time you'll waste if anything goes wrong with your flight. Pay the extra $100 and book directly with the airlines.
UPDATE: a day after posting this, they called me 3 times in one morning saying they were working on and and I should receive my money back soon. This was followed by please update my feedback. So here it is, too bad it took a month on nonsense and a bad review for them to finally do something they should have done from day 1. My above review stands, when things are going well in the world, go for it and save a few bucks. But if you think there may be any issues around the time of your flight, then you're better off buying directly from the airline.

I truly wish I could give CheapOair zero stars. That is what I think about their customer service and their cancellation policy during COVID-19. As if it's not bad enough that my flight was cancelled on my once in a life time trip to Europe, I am having to fight to get a refund. I have stayed on hold forever and when I finally get through to a person, they say they will refund my flight minus the cancellation fee (of course). Then, the website reflects that I have asked for a credit. So, I am on hold again waiting to go through the whole situation again. DO NOT BOOK ON CHEAPOAIR. They are not being reputable even during times like these!
They wanted to charge me $70 to cancel a flight, and $93 a person to change my fights BECAUSE of COVID! This was a total of $250 in fees that I had to pay for flights that cost $600 in total to begin with. Eventually after telling them that these fees were ridiculous, they were able to bring down the fee to $50 per person, but I was not satisfied still because they charged me fees while holding my credit hostage after I had canceled a flight for a reason I had no control over. They are not worth the convenience, just go straight to the airline.
One photo shows how much I ended up paying for booking, canceling, then attempting to use my credit. (two basic economy tickets ended up costing me $800 due to COVID). Another photo shows the way they made me think that they were helping me. The "administrative fee" was originally $93 per ticket. They pretend like they are helping, but really end up holding your credit hostage in the end.

Information was put wrong on ticket & after trying to speak with manager & customer service they over charged me & still today I haven't received my refund on overcharge. They explained how they don't make errors but yet charged me twice by mistake. First time using cheapoair & most definitely last time they scam people. Poor service
I have booked a ticket last night on their website with air canada's flex economy as add-on. But when i received the itinerary email there is no mention of the 49 dollar Ad-on I've purchased. I called them and they lied to me that they have the screen-shots of my booking and i have never purchased any add-on. I have asked them to share the screen-shots but they told me that they cant send them.

My family was buying tickets, they take a lot of many for two times and make something wrong with confirmation number, and my mom can't fly she buy another ticket from another company, hilarios customer service.

We had to cancel our trip to Hawaii. They told us they will have to charge us $300 to give us a partial refund of $2659. 00. Then they charged us $945.00 and did not refund us anything. When I asked her about cancelling my rental car she said she doesn't handle that and wanted to transfer me to someone else in the same department that she is in. This company is crooked. I'm filing a BBB complaint. The FTC needs to investigate this criminal outfit.
I have used CheapOair a few times before but it is the first time I make the cancelation to rebook my ticket I have a really bad experience.
My cancellation for rebooking the new itinerary was confirmed at the beginning of February. It is about half a year but I did not get my refund yet.
Anytime when I can touch with online support staff after hours of waiting, the only answer that I received is "we are facing a huge of cancelation, and please wait for 15-20 days". And not any progress until now.
Now my booking status is changed to "Hold for credit". I think that status is only for the booking canceled because of COVID.
My booking was canceled from Feb. 6th. There was no COVID pandemic or large scale cancelation. The cancelation was made for rebooking the ticket.
From the Department of Transportation regarding my complaint against this company..."Generally, our office pursues enforcement action on the basis of a number of complaints which may indicate a pattern or practice of violating our rules."
I've read many complaints against this company on several websites. If enough people file complaints with the DOT, they WILL take action against this CheapOair/OneTravel/Fareportal, Inc. FRAUD.
Look at the photos attached for DOT Rules and Regulations...
Non-refundable tickets - Passengers who purchase non-refundable tickets are not entitled to a refund unless the airline makes a promise to provide a refund or the airline cancels a flight or makes a significant schedule change.
China Southern Airlines refunded my money. But they gave it to CHEAPOAIR because CHEAPOair took my money and used their account to pay for the ticket.
The key takeaway from a year of dealing with this company is simple. They provide NO service. Once they have your money, if your flight(s) work out, fine. But if there's a cancellation you will probably be offered a poor substitute and if you want something (MUCH) better, you will be advised to contact the airline(s) because they have more choices of flights. This 'advice' on their part relieves them of further labor (services) and allows them to shift the blame to the airlines regarding financial responsibility. You are caught helpless in the middle. Think about this, and you will ask... what purpose do they really serve? Systemic deceit and trickery on the phone. Now they're pulling all the stops with teams of lawyers and fine print. But they HAVE TO follow DOT rules and regulation if we press them to. If you want your money back file a complaint! Otherwise beware these thieves.
Wait time is horrible because anyone comes to the phone, over 40 mins. I received an email about changes to my flight with the explanation, my flight has been changed twice so far. Same booking, this is my first time booking through Cheapoair and will be my last time, customer service representative sounded so annoyed when I was trying to figure out what's going on with my booking. The representative did not want to help me, I was told to call my airlines.
Also Cheapoair sends spam emails all day, it's annoying. I get tons of emails from them about nonsense but yet no one csn help me when I need help. Also the customer service number that's listed in the emails they send out does not work, once you call that number an automated system comes on and gives you another to call.
I bought 4 over Seas ticket for my family to come here they cancelled the flight and never refunded me my money back no body i know will ever fly with them
No rebooking our trip, in the foreseeable future, due to travel ban from US into certain countries. We had booked a one way flight from Bonaire to Aruba, to extend our island trip, but of course it was cancelled. I contacted Winair and they said Cheapoair should refund us our money instead of offering credit, since the airline themselves cancelled all US flights. Still waiting... one positive outcome from this COVID is how customer service or the lack of it, is exposed. The magnitude of what's going on in our world is crazy, but when you spend good money w/a company and have previously, good service is expected, especially in the circumstances we're all facing. So, if we can't rebook the entire trip how we originally had it booked, we'll lose almost $700. By January, 2021 for a "puddle-jumper" flight that we wouldn't be in need of normally... No more Cheapoair!
Answer: I would not use Cheapo under any circumstances. Look at the 698 (!) complaints at the Better Business Bureau website. They hide under the name Fareportal, which is the parent company.
Answer: Don't use them. Book through the airline. I paid to select my seats, then a week before my flight they put me and my companion in the middle seats in different rows!
Answer: Security may not be an issue but they can cheat you by hiding information you should know. I would suggest to not use them and their customer service personnel are also worst I have ever seen.
Answer: Provide the 8 digit booking number and what you need assistance with. Our apologies for the inconvenience
Answer: You can't and they will steal your money like what they did to me
Answer: Because they are scam, they just want to steal money from our pocket

Baggage information is listed directly beneath the flight when booking it. Most airlines now charge for bags, and if you book a basic economy ticket which was the case here, there are no free bags allowed.
