This is the worst company I've ever dealt with and I have been dealing with them for over 10 years now. I have two specialists and one general practitioner who have conferred on my medical and decided I needed Dupixent And Caremark has some underwriter sitting there checking off boxes and telling me the prior authorization has been denied this is the second time I've been waiting over a month for life-saving prescription. The worst! Note you have to put at least one star because believe me I would give none.
CVS Caremark does not Care about their Customers and misses the Mark on customer service. It's obvious that they are driven by profit by their owners: Aetna. Let me elucidate. On Monday, August 2,2021, my pharmacy called me and said that there was a substantial co-pay on my prescription for mycophenolate 250 MG capsule. They recommended I go thru Aetna's 90 day mail order service deceivingly called Caremark. I called Aetna and was given a phone number that connected me with an outfit called CVS Caremark "Specialty". Little did I know that this outfit differs from CVS Caremark in that they handle specialty prescriptions (for patients with complex & chronic conditions). The difference is in the copay which I was quoted as high as $180 for a 90 day supply. It took me until today (Friday, August 6,2021) to get the order transferred, approved, and expedited with a copay of $1.62! The problem is my supply of medication is running out in a few days and a supervisor by the name of Lori said I would have to pay for expedited shipping which is different from expediting a prescription approval process. So, I'll end up going without a medication for my auto-immune disorder in the time of a pandemic due to the profit driven folks at CVS Caremark. I feel sorry for the elderly that must deal with the employees of this company.
I have had nothing but problems since Aetna decided to use this. I really thought in March we had fixed the problems when my doc gave me 3 month prescriptions. I told this home delivery service to make them auto refills... guess what I just found out... even thou they lied and said ok... they didn't... cause they can't on the 1st order of a new prescription... EVERY NEW PRESCRIPTION has to wait till after the first order to be put on auto refill... BS! Now I have no blood pressure meds for GOD knows how long cause people don't do their jobs! I swear since this stupid corona virus people have gotten so lazy! Very very very unhappy unhealthy client... oh yea... just found out today I have cervical cancer... sure hope I don't need any drugs for that! Shame! Can't depend on nobody but yourself!
This outfit is the worst example of weaponized bureaucracy. CVS intentionally delays, obscures and intimidates customers with whom they have valid contracts. This "company" needs to be investigated for and convicted of organized crime under RICO statutes. Drug lords are prosecuted under RICO and CVS is a definitive drug lord.
I signed up for the Extracare or Caremark program (whichever charges you $5 a month). I cancelled the subscription way before the 3 day deadline. I have now been charged another $5. I was unable to cancel online. The website kept leading me away from anything to do with cancellation. I called & they said it was definitely cancelled. Now I have the $5 charge. I have emailed CVS to cancel my subscription and not to charge my card again. We'll see if it works this time. You would think a major company wouldn't be so shady.
They won't pay for very basic medications and when you appeal their initial decision they'll continue to deny payment. They will randomly approve one month of medication but will notify you by snail mail so you receive that notice after you've already paid in cash. And don't get me started on trying to get reimbursed if that happens! They make getting medications as difficult as possible. I don't have a choice because my company chose them and we don't have any options but if you are lucky enough to have an option DONT CHOOSE CAREMARK!
The website is terrible and I could not view my current and past prescriptions (it shows zero). The customer service is terrible. The customer representative was rude and could not tell whether a pre-authorization request was sent to the doctor's office as I talked to another representative 2 days earlier. My prescription (which I have used for years) now has been stuck for about 2 weeks now.
Tiffany with CVS Caremark helped me with all of my needs she was so caring and listened to every bit of what I needed before helping me. Tiffany even helped beyond what was asked. If everyone in customer service at all companies could respond in this manner everyone would be as happy as I am! Thanks so very much Tiffany!
Customer service is one person who speaks just enough English, but can never answer my question about how much a particular medication will cost through their mailorder service. I am ready to bail. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have to take heart medicine and medication for high blood pressure. Every time I request a refill, it shows up canceled on their website. They say they tried contacting my doctor 3 times to get authorization but they never hear back from my doctor. Once I was at the doctor's office while they faxed the authorization and Caremark still said they didn't get it. Horrible!
The needles that they will cover for injectable diabetes medications are terrible. They keep bending, meaning there was no way of knowing how much of the medication was even successfully injected. CVS Caremark said they would cover the more expensive needles -- that actually WORK -- if we got a prior authorization. We did that. It took TWELVE phone calls between them and the doctor's office and the pharmacy, but we got it submitted and approved. We DID WHAT THEY ASKED. It took over two weeks. It was approved, then the pharmacy said CVS was making us pay $71 for the same box of needles we paid $89 for over the counter.
I called to ask why since we had done what they asked. They said it was covered 55% because it wasn't the default needles covered by the plan (other words, but that's what it meant -- essentially because we asked for other than the generic, which DID NOT WORK). However, apparently for the base price that they will pay 55% of, they are using some mythical price that no one actually pays. Basically they are the prescription insurance version of those furniture stores that offer you "55% SAVINGS!" but it's of some jacked-up prices that no one pays anywhere.
By the way, this information was obtained after 15 minutes and three phone calls were used trying to navigate their absolutely horrible voice mail system that is designed to do everything in its power to prevent you from speaking to a live person and has the voice recognition capacity of a rabid squirrel. (And no, I don't even have a strong accent... I speak standard run-of-the-mill midwestern style English. I feel sorry for their poor workers who must deal with customers completely enraged by the horrid voicemail system. I had to apologize for how upset I was as the worker herself was lovely and helpful as she could be.) Can I charge them for the headache medications I now need?
Caremark sent a link for a Rx for
Livalo. The link took us to the site where it stated that our copay was $0.00 so we accepted the order.
After mailing the Rx, they then tried to charge almost $900. Upon discovery that Caremark was charging such a high amount, we asked to just return the Rx only to be met with an extremely rude customer service rep with no recourse.
Now, we cannot obtain any of our other prescriptions until we pay Caremark's ransom.
Will not allow a lot of the prescriptions that your doctor prescribes. They fight tooth and nail so they do not have to fill the prescription. Very helpful at telling you oh well. Not their problem. If you are looking at this company. Look elsewhere. Save the head ache. They suck.
Companies by these packages from CVS Caremark because the packages are cheap for the company. But they do not cover anything. Avoid employers that offer this coverage unless you and your family don't have any medical needs, and you can predict the future that you will never be hospitalized, or have any illnesses whatsoever. They have exorbitant deductibles and premiums and only cover chronic medications such as insulin at exorbitant prices. They will not pay anything towards your medication until you spend $5000 deductible, then they will pay for a vial of insulin/medication. If you have $5000 dollars to spend on medication, then why would you need insurance in the first place. Please take heed. If your prospective employer uses CVS/Caremark, do not take a position with this company. You have been warned.
Unfortunately when your insurance company dictates that you must utilize this specialty pharmacy for your MS medication, you don't have a choice to choose anyone different. They don't have to be nice, efficient or even accurate for that matter. I was denied medication I needed all the while the tried to send me medication approved by a doctor that wasn't mine for a condition I don't have! UNBELIEVABLE! They shouldn't even be in business!
I would rate a 0 if I could. Worst customer service. This pharmacy company makes rules about prior authorization after you have been on a med for a year with no consideration for what it's needed for and what missing a monthly dose means to the patient. There is no way to know that you need a prior authorization until you go to get your refill. So if your refill day happens to be a Friday and you can't reach your doctor. You are screwed and you miss 3-4 doses until Monday or Tuesday when it gets done. Missing some medications can make you sick, but Caremark does not care about the consumer
I called CVScaremark to refill a prescription as I have done in the past 2-3 years. Was told "ok" and cot a confirmation number. It did not come in the mail so I recalled. I was told my doctor would have to call them. I had my doctor call at the number provided by CVScaremark. The doctor called to tell me he called and that the medicine would be sent by mail.
It was not. I called CVScaremark again. Same story. Called doctor again. He called again. I got a recorded message on the answering machine that I could go to CVS, or any other pharmacy, to pick it up. Went to "other" pharmacy. They were told CVS had no record of any renewal or prescription. On 6/18/21 went to CVS pharmacy, they had no record of me whatsoever because I was dealing with the mail order portion of CVS and they do not talk to each other.
Got home and spoke to a Customer Representative who told me they had no record of the doctor calling and that there were zero refills. I told her the prescription label said otherwise. Her answer? "Impossible"
I asked for a Manager and spoke to "Susan". She said there was no record of any refill on the last prescription. I said I was holding the prescription label in front of me saying otherwise and would fax it to her. It seems they have no fax!
Every time I asked a question that required a "yes" or "no" response I got a story that did not pertain to my question. I asked what guarantee I had if the doctor called a third time there would be a different result. None.
I will not use them again and hope this will be of assistance you you in decision making, especially if the medicine is of a time important, life saving, nature.
I'd go less than one star, but there is not provision for that.
They've sent half my prescription to the wrong address and called me a liar and charged me for it. They didn't send my updated medication when the doctor upped my script. I'd rather pay out of pocket than be forced to use them.
Avoid CVS caremark if possible. They constantly send me the wrong birth control, even though my doctor writes DAW- one customer service rep straight up told me they override it. I had to fight with them for 2 years to finally talk to a pharmacist who would fix this problem for me. Then my prescription which is supposed to auto refill, never refilled and sent to me so they had to transfer it to a "local" CVS (I don't have any that close to me, I have much closer pharmacies they refused to use) and they didn't have my exact prescription. Caremark only let's me get a 3 month supply at once so I had to accept the other manufacturer and cross my fingers it won't give me problems like the other 2 manufacturers Caremark has sent me in past have. I miss ExpressScripts, I had them for years and never once had a problem with them. Caremark also won't give my brother who has epilepsy the proper dosage of his seizure medication that he is prescribed by my doctor. Useless company, they should get out of the business and stick to regular pharmacies.
Every prescription has been wrong! The most recent was to be sent overnight and it was not! Causing me to not be able to get my medicine on time!
Answer: Unfortunately, my health insurance provider switched from Express Scripts to CVS Caremark. This would not be my choice!
Answer: I could reach customer service however they do not provide assistance. Unless you request a senior member it's a waist of time.
