Terms received were substantially different then terms advertised.
It also takes up to 3 weeks for them to post checks they receive - resulting in unfair late charges and fees. Extremely inefficient practices and unfair policies.
Please read these reviews! They are true. This company is stealing from people every month! They consistently apply your payments to the expiring date farthest away regardless of how many time you specify that you have already made your monthly payment and want the payment applied to your promotional purchase that is expiring. They do this so they can back charge you HUNDREDS of dollars in interest. I called back and they apologized for the "oversight" and said they would correct only to do it AGAIN! I am reporting them to the FCC. This is against my rights as a consumer.
I called carecredit's customer service line on 9/5/19 to talk about receiving a refund that would be put back in to carecredit account. I was told once I see the account have negative balance (which means money back into my account) to called back and have them refund the money back into debit account. I got the money back into my carecredit account and when I called them to get it put back into my account, they're are now saying I have to wait 5-15 business days to receive a check in the mail. This is absolutely ridiculous. Getting jerked around like this, being told one thing then another. So unprofessional. The account manager Natalie #8092 was very rude, talking over me, cutting me off and wouldn't let me finish speaking. Also tried to tell me there wasn't any record of me calling previous on the date shown above. But then said oh there is a date here about you calling and talking about the account. Well duhhhhhh. The fact that she did that makes me question everything motive they have. DO NOT GET CARECREDIT, complete joke of a company.
Whatever you do, please do not apply for or get a Care Credit card. It is essentially worthless, especially when you need it most. I made a $700 payment on my account last week. The payment cleared my bank account and shows that Care Credit received it on 9-13-19. Last night my dog was viciously attacked by another dog and we had to rush him to an after-hours veterinarian clinic for treatment. Imagine my distress when my card was declined because Care Credit posted my payment to my account but did not increase my credit limit to reflect it. I called a customer service representative today for assistance and I was told it would be another 5 days until my $700 payment is reflected in my credit limit. The payment has cleared my bank account already and yet there will not be an available credit limit change until 10 days after Care Credit received it. I was told that the credit limit would not be adjusted sooner because I had made a large payment. So, I am being penalized because I made a larger payment that is more than the minimum. Also, my dog may need additional surgery this week and I will still not have access to my card or my available credit in time. Instead of helping me with this problem the customer service representative from Care Credit suggested that I increase my credit limit so that I could then use my card. I just want access to the credit limit that I currently have and the payment that I already made. Like I first indicated, this card is useless and a waste of time and money.
I got this card for vet visits. HUGE mistake. Everything you read in the other reviews is true. 6 months no interest? LOL!
1) Suppose you make 3 charges in 3 different months. When you make a payment do they apply it to the next expiring promo balance? NO! They apply it to something expiring in a future month. Example: Have a promo balance of $250 due Sept 20. Make a payment of $250 on Sept 14. So, you think your promo will be paid off. BUT, they apply it to a promo not due until November. So, your promo due Sept 20 is NOT paid off within the 6 month period and they charge you 26% interest, back to the original purchase date.
2) Then there's the unexplained promo amount due which is not what you charged. Example: You charge $200. They correctly show the date charged and the amount. BUT, the promo amount due shows $240.? Why the difference? No explanation. AND, if you pay off the $200 original charge within the 6 month promo period, but NOT the unexplained extra $40, they consider the promo balance NOT PAID and charge you interest on the whole thing.
3) Customer Service? PATHETIC! They will email you acknowledgement of your inquiry/complaint. EVENTUALLY they will send another email. It won't make much sense. They won't explain anything. They won't answer any questions.
4) They give you no warning about the above. You need to check your account constantly to see what fancy footwork they have pulled to charge you exorbitant interest.
RUN AWAY FROM SYNCHRONY BANK and CARE CREDIT as fast as you can!
Adds in interest, charges late fees with no notice. Its completely horrible. I will be trying to get out of it as soon as possible.
I recently had my carecredit account closed based on an apparent periodic credit report review. Didn't even know any credit card company does this. My account with care credit was well over 3 years old. Never a late payment and balance paid off.
Granted, I am working on repairing my credit following a business bankruptcy 7 years ago. This action by care credit shows that they are not concerned with their customers, as much as they are their bottom line.
Closing an account and indicating that it was closed at request of the creditor only further damages a persons credit score and report.
I have used this company in the past for both my own health care needs, and those of my patients. Never again, will I use them for either.
If you pay of your balance during the promotional period then that's fine but if you carry a balance, that balance will not budge even if you are making close to $150 payments each month. I had a balance of $5400 in May 2017 and I paid around $140-$150 each month and in August 2019 my balance was still $4200.
Customer service is non-existent. I called the customer service number to close off the account and finally pay that $4200 in full and the automated system REFUSED to get me to a live person and forced me to complete that transaction with the dial pad.
Shredded this card immediately and will never EVER consider it again.
If you need CareCredit, you are probably in more financial trouble than you probably realize. Seriously evaluate your finances before signing up for this card. They will approve almost anyone and then you will get trapped.
They don't apply payments as promised and are so dishonest. You will pay interest, they make sure of it.
Make sure you keep track of how much they are allocating your payments to your promotional purchases. I had one on there from August 2018 that is to be paid off by August 2020. I unfortunately had to use them again for a much smaller amount in February 2019 that's due by August 2019. I got something saying more than half of that one is still due. They'd been giving majority of my payments to the first promotional purchase... which would in turn make me pay all the interest if not paid on time. The representative and his manager Joshua were very rude and would not assist me. They basically said they could not assist me and I have to pay it off by the 30th. Worst company ever. They also, decreased my limit when I have a good history with them. I can't wait to pay them off.
I only have this card for vet visits. The last 2 times my card was declined! Why? Not sure! First time it happened, I called the number on the card, prompt the automated system, which tells me my credit limit, available credit and available cash and what's due...$12 was due a few days from the day I used the card. Ok! Good to go! Run it again. DECLINED. I had to call back PAY the $12 to bring my balance to 0 to use the card. Today it happened again! This time over total amount due in 2 weeks $7! THAT'S ALL THAT WAS ON THE CARD! $7! Ok, here's my $7. Can I charge my dogs bill now? Sorry Ma'am, your card will not be able to be used till 48 hours! Are YOU kidding me? 0 balance, $2,700 credit limit and I can't use $200 of it to pay my dog's vet bill? No Ma'am, not today! 1 DONE! I will NEVER use this company again, and I'll be sure to tell everyone I know about the card. WORST COMPANY EVER!
After a year Care Credit decrease my limit without notice. This has hurt my credit score only 5 points but stip. They are a scam. This is not right. I called and they said they won't increase it. The are scammers.
Worst credit card company ever. I have had Care Credit for more than 5 years and have never paid late but they decreased my credit line twice. I have recently been through a terrible divorce that affected my credit and I have been working diligently to fix it and had come so far when for no reason they decreased my credit again causing an negative on my report and now preventing me from getting a home equity loan. I called the company and they said they would look into but because they make adjustments based on the credit report chances are they will not readjusted my credit line. I do not understand how they can not look at the whole picture and see my loyalty to the company and payment history. I also have no idea how BBB can possibly give them an A+ rating. The care nothing for their loyal customers.
Have had 2 bad experiences with this card. My mother, 86 yrs. Old, 5 years ago got $7000 "coverage" at her dentist in Bt. Utah. And after have very little work done was socked with a huge bill. The dentist probably did about 3500 work of worth, but because they are paid up front, ( he was pd. The $7000) had NO incentive to do the rest of the job, or do it well. She has had nothing but pain and decay since. My husband recently, June 2019, signed up with this company, thinking it wasn't a credit card! Now we are already having problems with them. Fees and interest, even through he has paid 2500 towards the bill already. Its a SCAM. Im calling Utahs Consumers Protection Agency on Monday and discussing how this company practices.
850 is the best FICO score anyone can get. CareCredit refused to lower their interest rate from 26.9%. Said it is the interest rate "across the board" for all. I do know that if your medical person applies, the rate will be whatever he/she and CareCredit agree on which can be lower. But if you have them as a credit card they will charge 26.9 percent interest no matter how perfect your credit is. About that promotional rate for $200 or more expenditure: I paid $204 for my mother's medicine using CareCredit. They said that since i used the card at a pharmacy, the promotional rate did not apply and I couldn't have it.
If your medical person or vet applies for you you may end up with a good deal. Never apply for it yourself. But beware, once that interest free period ends, you are in for it, as others here have explained.
Apply for a Visa or MasterCard with a good long interest-free period after first opening the account, and get your procedure done (or your pet's) and then pay as you normally would. And watch out for any card that says if you don't pay it off by the end of the promotional period, they will charge you for all the back interest that you didn't have to pay.
Update: I shredded my card and they are still charging me $41 a month for so called security. They absolutely won't cancel it and they charge enormously for those so called promotional deals. Don't pay the minimum balance to these people because your balance will never ever go down not with the charges they stack up on it. I've paid them into the hundreds for the last few months and the balance never goes down. Soon I am going to stop paying these criminals because I've got other bills that are more important. They can come after me. I don't care. They are taking advantage of people and tacking on enormous security fees, and interest in promotional items. This isn't right.
Worst credit card you could ever have! You've been warned. Wouldn't let me worst enemy apply for this card. They are more concerned with fraud charges than they are with customer service. Don't do it, just horrible.
You have a promotion where they say there's no interest for x amount of months. But once the promotion ends, it was like 40 percent interest on the original Balance in one lump sum. I had two cards paid down to $200 left and now they are over 4K. Which is more than what I started with. They refuse to work me with and are extremely condescending and rude on the phone.
They send you monotony emails with your automatic payment but they say nothing about promotions ending. The manager told me that I needed to open the statement each month and read the tiny fine print at the bottom. What a joke. I have plenty other credit cards that had promotions on them, and each of those sent emails that clearly notified when they were ending and what date. Care credit is a sick scam and they will go to hell. Do NOT FALL FOR THIS.
I love care credit. Unlike all the other people, I've had no problems with them what so ever. It's great to have the interest free promotion option, even if my bill is less than 200 I go ahead and place that amount on the card just for the promotional interest free period. Super helpful not only for myself, but also for my dogs. Advice I would give to others? Stay on top of your payments, pay early if you can and always, ALWAYS pay more than what the minimum says. By doing so you save yourself from getting hit with the high interest. It's called responsibility folks.
