I have had care credit for a few years, in good standing, always paid on time and had a 0 balance since August 2021. I requested a credit increase and they denied my request and closed my account. No big that my increase request was denied but the fact that they closed my account over it is completely bs.

Read the fine print
August 12, 2020

6 months 0% interest actually means 6 months deferred interest. I woke up to find a nearly 1k charge on my account. Technically this is my fault but the distinction (which was not made clear) made a huge difference In value. There were other more affordable options at multiple points from financing through the provider, using a card with a lower apr, transferring balance to a card with a real 0% rate, HELOC, cash... lots of things you should consider before laying down with this dog.

Borderline Scam
October 23, 2018

Got into a sticky situation with several thousand in emergency vet bills that I couldn't afford in full at the time and encouragement from the clinic to use them. I encourage you to use literally any other credit card if you need to. I have been unable to "register" my account which has to be done to pay/close the account, and when trying to call and speak to a person, got stuck in an infinite loop of robot voice "assistance". There's also a link in one of the emails I've received to chat to a representative, but I can't do that without my account being activated. When searching the website for an email address to reach out to, I found that there is a portal to email customer service, but again only if you are logged in. Also, I'm still well within the interest free period, but according to the paper statements I've received I am already getting charged interest.

DO NOT USE THEM

I got this card with an initial limit of 1000. 00 for dental services. I paid it off in 3 months. Then they raised my limit to 6000. 00,8 months later I charged 1200. 00 in vet fees to the card. Paid that off in 4 months. 10 months later they canceled my card and the only way I found was through my credit monitoring service. They never contacted me, I was never late with a payment, always paid greater then the minimum due. My credit score to a hit. These people are scum. Do not do business with them.

I was almost done to pay off my balance by next month. Only to check my account and to find out they charge me for interest of $150.! That was less of the amount I had left to paid off. I always made my payments on time that amount was ridiculous... worst bank ever.! I had to pay this today just so I can be done with this $#*!ty credit card. It hurt me to paid that amount knowing I only had $80 left and jumped to $150 more in interest never againnnn!

BEWARE of FINE PRINT
December 7, 2016

I signed up for this card for a vet bill and was told it was a 0% interest for a year. Great, I pay off what I can and pay interest on the balance like a normal credit card. This isn't the case. I had a $300 balance out of a $6500 balance from the beginning. Because there was any balance, they retroactively charge you the interest from the beginning balance. So my $300 turned into $1500, having to pay $1200. BS. Go to creditcards.com and get a real credit card with 0%. STAY AWAY!

I took a huge loan for the dental work. The dentist messed me up horribly. I had to redo all her work, and paid double to another dentist who redid her mess. I disputed it twice with Care Credit, they said I signed some 'legal' papers with the dentist, which was a paper about side effects, and other general matters. They decided the disputed in dentist's favor. I am stuck with a huge loan amount plus almost %30 on the top of it. They are not loyal, not fair. I won't have business with them any more. I provided all the notes from another dentists, and other paper support. Stil...

I was recommended to Care Credit by two different veterinarians. I've been very careful with my credit since I've been trying to build it back after the death of my husband. I'm the last 8 months, I've been approved for two credit cards and have a credit limit of $1000 and a current usage of around 20%. My score is around 640 and my payment record for these two cards is considered "excellent". I have a full time job and make a decent living but I didn't have the money for emergency surgery for my pet this month. I was denied! I've had relatives with worse credit than me and bankruptcies on top of that and THEY were approved! Now my credit will drop because I applied and was denied. My advicedon't even try to apply! Luckily, I found out the vet will take half his fee up front and I can pay the rest next month. I'll pay himmy money isn't good enough for Care Credit.

Crazy Interest
January 13, 2023

I requested pay off on 12/9/22. Paid off my balance in full. 1/13/23 I have a notice of $4.65 due. I reach out to find it is interest of $2.65 charged on 12/09/22 after I paid off my balance, now there is interest due on my interest that was due. I tried the online assistant and she(Sidney) was no help and said they could not help. I paid it and closed my account.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!
February 5, 2016

They opened two accounts for me and one was NOT authorized. I had to spend an extreme amount of time closing the account and getting it removed from my credit report with TONS of phone calls to them. They told me twice they would take care of it and yet I had to call a third time to finally get them to remove it from my credit report. It took four months to get it resolved and it was all because they opened an account without my permission. Which their telephone system is horrible. At the beginning of each call they say you can do a survey at the end of the call, but I never once did I get pumped to the survey and when I asked the representative to transfer me to the survey she hung up. I tried to view and print a statement from my online account and you CAN'T. I have never had an account with any creditor that you couldn't print your statement or view it online. Do your home work before using this credit card. I'm refinancing this credit card and will never recommend them to anyone.

I got a care credit card a year ago when I had emergency dental problems. The transaction was $1,100 and I got a care credit card to pay it off. It's been over a year that I've been paying and I still owe them $1,651 on a $1,100 transaction.

Worst Card EVER
November 17, 2022

I applied for this card got a $3K credit limit. Used it once maybe twice - total max charge maybe around 250 bucks. No issues with paying, Then months later with no balance due mind you, and they drop my credit limit to below half of that. Then I just got an email today six months later. They closed the card. This is the worse card to have, the interest rates are too high, it is really no benefits. I am glad it is closed, cause I wasn't going to use it anyway. I can see if I made late payments. Nah, I will never ever suggest this company to anyone. IF you are thinking about applying...please don't. There are better cards out there that would give you a better rate and deal. That card is a joke. Poor quality.

No issues with paying.

Despicable
January 4, 2020

I paid my payments on time every month for the last 2 years. I was late 1 DAY on my account for the first time this week (i overlooked it due to the holidays) and they decreased my credit limit from 6000 to 2800 (which drooped my credit score by 14 points) and then not just charged me the $40 late fee for December but also charged me a $40 late fee for my payment in January which isnt even due yet.

What a joke!
February 3, 2022

May help you in a pinch, screws you in the long run! Hurts your credit rating! As you pay your balance, they lower your credit limit! Therefore... it's as if you have a credit card maxed out. This hurting your credit rating! You got approved for the limit... why is it going down as you pay? So you are always maxed out!

If you do not pay off the card within the promotional period, it wouldve defeated the purpose in making close to minimum monthly payments. After the 6 month period i got charged 200$ interest for not paying off the purchase within the given time frame. Thank you Care Credit!

After 6 months all of my interest free was added to my account. I was nearly paid in full! Now I owe just as much as I did when I first enrolled! When I call to ask to customer service when I can after I go through hell with the automated system, they are rude and will hang up on you. They treat you like you are ignorant, will not listen and if they don't want to help they hang up. This company is a joke.

This "company" stinks! We got CareCrecit for one of our dogs, who we had to let go over the Rainbow Bridge. Had a $1,800 CL, which is what we needed. Been making regular payments, was late ONE DAY on one payment and went to make a payment today and they cut the CL by half! This company is nothing but a greedy POS! We had an emergency with our other dog and that card came in handy, but now they just suck!

I kept a Care Credit card for veterinary services for several years, used it when necessary, and paid it down but kept a balance. One of our pets had cancer but was dealing well with it until one night she starting yowling (I won't get any more graphic). None of the emergency clinics were open because of Covid, but I got ahold of one of our regular vets. He checked for payment (Care Credit) and told me my account was closed. Synchrony Bank closed it when I paid it off. There are options to Care Credit; the one I'm using now is to keep a clean Visa with me at all times, because I don't ever want to drive around in the middle of the night with a dying animal again. If you are forced to use any card issued by Synchrony Bank, make sure you have a backup payment method!
