A total scam!
November 4, 2017

The only good thing about this site is that I found 1 good job through it. Other than that it's absolutely ridiculous how much money they take from you. There are more people with fake profiles trying to get your personal information than there are real people looking for employees. And apparently if you want to cancel your subscription they charge you an additional $60. I had a profile for 4 month. And was only able to get 1 job after all the time and no at I put into it. I would advice everyone to stay far away from this site.

I chose one month subscription at $54.99 in end August, there were a few options for me to chose at that time, lower price for 3 months, even lower for 6 months and a year. I just want to try out the site, so I had chosen one month and planned to signed up more if the app works out for me.

Turned out this app didnt work for me, there was no customer service to asked questions, I clicked the background to one sitter by mistake, contacted them to try to stop it, got their response 4 days after and its too late, wasted another $79.99. The navigation was bad too couldnt use filter function etc. so i decided not to continue the service thought since I only bought one month, I didnt need to contact them. Turned one, the ONE MONTH I chose at higher price was monthly subscription! And they had charge me $54.99 in sept and October. Total scam! If you provided option of one month, three month or 6 months/year at lower cost, and a customer is actually looking for MONTHLY subscription, why wouldnt customer choose 3 month or 6 months for lower cost?

There is no way to cancel the subscription on their site. Contacted them in email, got the response said that there was a iso upgrade in sept, if I accepted the upgrade, the terms and agreement in it had told me this turned to monthly subscription and payment will be done thru itune. I can only stop the subscription via itune.

Tried to report the issue on itune, itune store said they are unable to report the problem. Being rip off total $185 additional from them. Inam calling my credit card company

Do not use them

I bought into it for a month, and when they enticed me to pay a months membership for a reduced price I did. I soon realised that being able to send a message to a particular person makes no difference whatsoever! You still get no replies, but to keep up the charade, they email you to tell you about other ads that have come on the site. Don't bother with them. They are making lots of money for doing nothing! They don't refund money you have paid (they take it from your bank account anyway). I wanted to try the service you would normally pay £10 for, as they were offering it for £7 for the one month. I was shocked to see they had taken £10 out the next month too. Make sure you tell them in good time when you want to cancel, would be my advice. It's a big rip off.

After being a member of care.com for a couple of years and performing every job to great satisfaction and having many referrals from those positions. Care.com just deleted my account.
Without reason or cause.
They say that they can delete anyone for reason or no reason.
And they refuse to give a reason for deletion.
They then allowed For a new account to be set up.
Paid membership fee and paid for background check. As of now NO refund and no reason for cause.

They advertise legitimate trial memberships but they continue to bill you without your explicit consent and it is near impossible to cancel your membership! Total Scam!

In early October 2017 I signed up for this service with the intent of trying it out for just a month. I applied for dozens of jobs (probably 40 total) and received many replies. HOWEVER, there is no way to reply (to those replies from people who want to discuss/interview me) UNLESS they also sign up and pay up! THAT was NOT made CLEAR when I signed up. So am leaving, cancelling my membership. ALSO, it seems like many of the jobs are bogus; I have seen Care.com ads in other cities that are exact duplicates of ads on Care.com for the Austin, TX area. Very suspicious!

I put an ad in for a live-in caregiver. I paid for only 3 months, so happy I didn't get a membership as I saw so many people were continually charged for a service that is absolutely not worth it! I never received a single reply from anyone so I went to the site to check my ad and found it had been suspended. I emailed with no response. Then tried again and got a phone number so I called. Apparently they suspend your ad every 3 weeks! They say to make sure the ads are current. The problem is that I had no idea that happened because I was not informed. I asked for a refund and the guy put me on hold for a very long time and came back with an offer to refund me. He acted like he was doing me a big favor. I paid $57 for 3 months but they had to keep one month fee for the 3 weeks of nothing. My refund was a whopping $18! Since it costs $39 for a month. I can't believe their dishonest practices.

Buried deep in the membership information you will find a paragraph that informs you that all subscriptions will be renewed automatically. Months after I ordered a one month subscription I realized my card was still being charged. I can't get a supervisor, I get emails with the membership information attached and they will not refund all the months that I didn't use the service. You receive no alerts or emails informing you that your account is about to renew automatically and this is done surely to keep people from having the information and cancelling the accounts. This way the company gets months and months of payments from people who have no intention of continuing the service and will not refund them despite the fact that they have no logged on in all of the months they were charged. That in itself should be the criteria for getting a refund. They didn't provide a service and a refund is appropriate.

Rip off
October 26, 2017

This site is a rip off. I got charged for a background check I did not oirder. Called customer service and after I was on hold for 15 minutes asked to have it removed and they put me on hold for another 15 minutes. It was so hard to understand the person that barely spoke english and refused to stop it and give me a refund. They took basically $100 off of me for thier "services" that were basically nothing. Total rip off. Horrible horrible horrible.

Read their terms
October 26, 2017

If you don't cancel your membership they will charge you and just keep charging you. When you call (if you can find any number TO call, they hide it well), they treat you like you're an idiot. We found a great sitter, but I hate their site and will never use it again.

Posted my cleaning biz on Care.com. They sent emails notifying me of offers in my area. However, I could not read how to personally contact these people who would like to hire me. No contact email, phone, nothing. Just a first name, first initial of last name and city. After going over the sites tiny print of every word under the Terms of Use, I realized my mistake. See https://www.care.com/terms-of-use-p1012.html. The only 'Free' on the site is for me to post and you to read that post. Nothing more. If we want to contact each other for services, we ~both need to pay~ for a membership. This essentially unlocks the contact info. Decided to delete my post following Care.com directions to Log-In, Click My Account, then click Membership, Edit Profile Status. This did nothing except boomerang me to the Contact Us page where I started. Then I had sucess getting help on their Facebook page by clicking the Message button. The official page is: https://www.facebook.com/pg/caredotcom/posts/?ref=page_internal. I was asked to Direct Message them with my email and a link to my listing. Help came fast. Post your concerns. Account deleted from their end. I didn't need to do anything else. As a fun fact, the owner Sheila Lirio Marcelo of the site also has a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/sheila.marcelo. Again, please read their terms to learn if they will help in your case. Although my little experience pales in comparison to some others, I hope to point out how my situation was handled to my satisfaction. I hope you too can find some sort of resolution.

Use with caution, a shady company will sell your info. I canceled my membership months ago and continue to get mainly out of state job requests, some even out of the country. I would be worried about any job listed on their site.

So I decided to do the 'care pro' so I'd come up in searches before 'free' accounts and the very first time I signed in I get a pop up that says 'you still may not be in searches'...! Read a little more and yep... they want MORE money to actually put me in searches. Now it feels like a scam. Too bad. Someone finally sent me an offer for an interview and they've graded out her phone number so I can't call. I sent her a number to call me... it also is grayed out. This is nonsense and hassle that no one needs to add to the stress of a job search. I think I am going to ask for my money back.

Very disappointed in both the service from care.com and the quality of leads for babysitters. 'New' baby sitters to the site lived over an hour away ( basically the far side of a large city). Babysitters that left the country 3 months ago still come up in your area, despite their inactivity on the site. After a 3 month trial, I no longer wanted to use the service. They charged my anyways for the next 3 months, told me they would change my account after the next 3 month and were unavailable to chat with or email with.

I came across this site. You can't do anything until you register on the site. Once registering, they try to get you to sign up for a price. Like it should cost money to find a job and people looking for jobs have extra money to spend?

So I opted for the "free" membership. Next up, they try to get you to pay for your background check and DMV check. I passed on that as well.

In the past two weeks, I have applied for about a dozen positions they had advertised. I have not received on single response from anything I applied for. Not one response. I wonder if I am not getting responses because I didn't select the pay membership or buy the background and DMV check. I wonder if these jobs are even real. There is no way at all to contact the people advertising the jobs.

I can't help but think that this is a total scam. How do you apply for a dozen positions and not get a response from even one of them?

Care.com is basically another Craigslist. You can look for a job or post a job, you get the same scams and both haven't any concept of customer service whatsoever. The only difference is that Craigslist is free and Care.com is not. With Care.com you have to pay just so people can see your profile and communicate with you. They should only get paid after you've found a legit job through their site. They are charging you to do something you can do on many other social media websites for free. Why would I pay for something that I can get for free elsewhere with the same exact service. How can they charge a job seeker (who obviously don't have much or any money at all) to find a job. Again, Care.com should only get paid if you successfully find work through their site. They are just advertising themselves with a decorated website and TV commercials when all they are is a pretty Craigslist. It's like putting a bow on one dog and not the other. They are both dogs, one's just prettier.

I wish that it gave the protection of no phone numbers given out for those who want that. I also wish that the site would allow the option of allowing a person to give out phone number, emall address, etc for those who want to. The site makes it difficult to get in touch with a potential candidate or a potential candidate to get in touch with me other than just messaging.

The whole fraud thing happened to me as well. You have the job, but we are moving from another state, we'll send you an advanced payment for your trouble, etc. etc. Well I did a thorough check on this so called caring person. I checked the white pages online, no trace of the email address and phone number they provided. I even called a real estate company regarding the address they were suppose to be moving to. The place was still on the market to be rented. Since they had already mailed me a check I investigated one more thing. The company name on the check. It turns out that the business is a company just like Care.com. They help people find jobs. And havent you noticed that you can post with Care.com but they wont promote you unless you become a member. Funny that no one else responded except this con-artist. And why is it that none of the fraud cases from other sites appear on Care.com? When I called them about this situation they dismissed it by saying that all client information was privileged. Are they really looking out for their members... hmmm? Needless to say, I didnt follow thru with the crook's request. And, oh they returned 1 call and it wasnt even from the lady that contacted me. It was from man with a thick, what sounded to be, a Nigerian accent. Dead give away for fraud per TV investigative reports. When I asked for his name, he gave me 2 different names, except the one that he had written to me via email. They are so busy trying to be crooked that they cant keep up with their own lies. So beware my friends.

Stay Away - Total Scam!
October 19, 2017

Simply put, I attempted to find a caregiver position via Care.com twice. The first time I bought the service for one month, and found out that everyone I knew was having difficulty posting reviews. Thus, I canceled my commitment. I then tried it again recently, and the exact same thing happened. No one could post a review, so therefore, I received no responses from applications to which I applied, even though I explained the problem in my application. The one time I did receive a reply it turned out to be a total scam. You know the type: the person would hire me to take care of their mother and send me a check in advance which I was to deposit immediately. I could go on and on with the details of the scam, but you get the point. I finally told the person, whomever he or she was, that if I received a check via Courier, as they indicated they would send, that I would give it to the police. Needless to say, I never heard from them again. I have written to Care.com on numerous occasions, complaining that no one can post a review on my page. They do the same thing over and over again. They explain how to post a review, which I already knew, but it never works. You cannot call them since this is a completely online based business. It is a total scam! I tried to get my 3 month membership back this time, but they would not refund it to me. I wrote to them and told them that their company was a fraud. I believe this to be true. They do not properly vet their applicants obviously. The response I received from the one person was so obviously a scam that I told them so. Stay away! You will lose your money, waste your time, and get no job.
