care.com is online job network. They DON'T HAVE customer service concept. I wonder how this site became so popular. When you can not talk to some one, how can you trust your confidential information on the site! VERY DISAPPOINTING
The on-going membership charges are ridiculous. I will never use this site again. Used for a babysitter one time for out of state grandbaby. Somehow that morphed into an on-going fee of $30, which luckily was caught after one month. But, I was still ripped off for that extra $30. What a scam
All of our subscriptions auto renew until set to cancel and this is clearly outlined at the time of purchase before selecting a subscription. At Care.com, we know that the process of finding the perfect caregiver is no easy task and we set out to make that experience as helpful and seamless as possible. We cannot know for certain which stage of the search/hiring process each customer is in, so we put the control in our member’s hands to inform us when they have fulfilled their caregiving needs. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for! Best wishes!
Yeah if people are looking for a housekeeper why don't they at least respond when you apply. I think there are a lot of bogus jobs advertised on the site. Can't prove it but when you apply for over 50 and get 0 responses, something's up.
It is ultimately the family' decision to reply to the applications they receive although we advise everyone to reply promptly to their messages, we're so sorry if this has not been your experience. I suggest applying to all jobs that interest you and send a follow up message if you dont hear anything back. I thought this article on the site might be helpful as well; http://tinyurl.com/zum4fvj>. Best wishes!
I signed up for care.com to look for a nanny when my son was born in 2014. I paid an initial $25 to use the site, and did not have any luck, so I quickly stopped using it with no plans on using it again.
In 2017, I decided to look into the vague charge on my bank statement for $39/mo called cci.com. For all of those years, I had assumed the charge was for my husband's gym membership. To my dismay, it turned out that the charge had been recurring for THREE years from Care.com. I did not sign up for this! I used their service for barely a week and never went back on!
It turns out, Care.com started to charge me $39/mo after the initial $25 I paid to use the site. I never agreed to anything beyond the $25 charge but they claim that I signed up for it. I am assuming they have a pre-checked box in tiny font somewhere at the bottom of a page when you put in your initial credit card info to try out the site.
What's even worse is that they refuse to give me any sort of a refund! What a scam. Now that I have educated myself a bit more about this awful business, I have found out that a good portion of Care.com's profit is based off of innocent people like me who were somehow tricked into signing up for monthly charges. They never give a refund because they are not an honest company, and literally prey off of people like me.
There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company. My husband has contacted our local news station about it, and it sounds like they are interested in doing a story about this. I hope there will someday be justice regarding this issue, and the owner of Care.com faces legal ramifications. Until then, I am going to make it one of my life missions to share my experience so that others do not get taken advantage of by Care.com the way I was.
As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for! Best wishes!
After paying for the premium membership they closed my account for no reason and didnt refund the money!
We're so sorry you feel this way, Juliane. If you'd like us to review your account again, please email us at careteam@care.com. Best wishes!
I upgraded to premium TWO days ago. I wish I had seen the reviews. The day after I became premium I learned I would not need services and it would be a waste. So I emailed to request a refund of the $45 membership fee and guess what? Per our policies we dont offer refunds but Ill fix you account to be downgraded and youll have access to it until Nov. 2. Which not only was unhelpful but Id wish anyone would have warned me of this scam.
We appreciate your feedback, Niki and will make sure to pas this along.
Communication system is extremely poor. You can not exchange phone numbers on the site. Customer service is outsourced and spotty. Could hardly understand the poor excuse for English when I eventually got someone. Complaints fall on deaf ears. Don't waste your time don't waste your money. I got absolutely nothing for my membership fee.
We appreciate your feedback, Joe. I'll make sure to share it with the right department. Best wishes!
Automatic renewal feature is just a way to steal money from you: I took a 3 months contract and could not find anybody suitable. I just gave up with them... but automatic renewal was on apparently... and my contract was renewed. Not after the 3 months ( i would have understood that). But a year later! I raised my case but they were too happy to keep my £89. Pathetic and dishonest. AVOID
I apologize if you had a negative experience with us. Our auto-renewal feature offers our members an easy way to continue to enjoy our services without interruption. We openly disclose this feature before a member subscribes and grant the ability for members to cancel their subscription. Best wishes!
I think there are a number of fake profiles on the site. Over 2 months I could not get more than 2 or 3 "experienced" care givers to reply to my messages, and none of them were available. If people are looking for work, why wouldn't they contact you back?
I attempted to contact several care providers at Care.com, only one of whom replied. When I requested a screening phone interview, I never received a response. I paid Care.com to connect me with people who would be available but were not. After I made the the initial membership payment that was required to contact anyone, Care.com then stated that none of the caregivers were vetted in any way and I would need to complete background checks. Care.com advertised services I needed but could not acquire.
Used to be good, new changes make it unusable and unfriendly. Very bad customer service. Sad to say no longer recommend by any users
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience as we appreciate all of the concerns our members bring to our attention. I'll make sure to share your feedback with the right department. We wish you all the best!
Just read the fine print.
They provided very little help with my needs and I would never recommend them to anyone. The do Care about getting your money.
We're sorry you feel this way, Blair. We appreciate your feedback and I'll make sure you share this with the right department.
Care.com is such a waste of money. I posted a nanny position and got numerous "applicants" who were actually scammers. I would almost always respond and never get replies back. Also, the very few real applicants were garbage. Extremely rude and unprofessional. I will never use this site again.
They are very deceiving with their advertising. They never connect the employer with applicant. When you complain, then they inform applicant needs to pay to have their profile visible to the public. The more you pay then they gradually move up your profile to be more visible. Scammers! Stay away!
They have a fake pricing strategy to entice you at the beginning so you seem to have a choice of 1 month 3 months or longer subscription. But dont be fooled by this tiered pricing as each pricing will just automatic renew you at the end of your chosen period. In another words, you chose one month but it means you pay one month on an ongoing basis unlesa you deliberately stop the subscription. I am sure it is the same for any other periods of subscription. It is misleading as most customers thought they have made a choice between shorter and longer subscription but you are wrong! It is ongoing payment! I spoke to them but they said they have automatically renewed the subscription "for the convenience of customers ". Finding a carer or nanny is not an ongoing thing but periodical as we may have the needs to look for somw help and once we find the care we should not be forced to pay continuously. Anyway how long we want to pay for this service should be our own choice not this company's.
Even though i havent used a single day of the period they added me onto they still wouldn't refund the payment they took out of the bank. When we subscribed first time, little did we know that this stealthy company already retained your card details without your consent and use it when you are unaware. Please stay away. There are other more honourable companies to find you the care.
I apologize if you had a negative experience with us. Our auto-renewal feature offers our members an easy way to continue to enjoy our services without interruption. We openly disclose this feature before a member subscribes and grant the ability for members to cancel their subscription. I'll make sure to pass this along a feedback. Best wishes!
This program has made itself NON OPERATIVE. You cannot get the phone numbers of the care givers, and when you try through their "CARE CHAT" line, there is never a connection made. I wanted my money back but there is no way for a return. You can downgrade your account, to not get billed the next month. No one answers their *******115 Care.com phone number. In the past BEFORE they had the phone restriction deal, I found a quality house cleaner. BUT now, you have to enroll in a spy course, and waste countless hours, trying to connect with someone with no avail, so why try? I'm upset, and concerned that genuine workers would like to find work, but this company is NOT providing what it advertises!
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience as we appreciate all of the concerns our members bring to our attention. I'll make sure to pass this along as feedback.
No rhyme or reason. Both me and my husband work for the state, husband, law enforcement. Both of us very respected in the community. We were looking for a babysitter and signed up to care.com. We were denied. No one would elaborate why. We are all for security but if you are going to deny someone then I expect a reason. Whos to say our acct was not hacked? At least allow me to defend myself. I will never recommend this site to anyone.
So sorry this happened, Kat. As a membership-based online community, Care.com reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate a member's Care.com membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice. If Care.com terminates your membership, we have no obligation to notify you of the reason, if any, for such termination. We wish you all the best!
What's with this new call system? If there are customer s there scaring them away! They claim it's to help cut down on fraudulent scams, ( there the scam) your number still shows to the party contacting you! It's ridiculous from start to finish
We appreciate your feedback, Rose. We'll make sure to share this with the right department.
Care.com engages in deceptive billing practices. Be very careful. I thought I signed up for a 3 month membership. I missed the fine print that it is not a 3 month membership and they will keep billing your credit card every 3 months...

I paid over 125.00 for three months premium membership as a caregiver, and the background checks. Of all the 60 or so "responses" I received, about 55 of them were scammers. I kept calling and emailing to ask them to PLEASE figure out a way to weed those out. After two months of this, I called to downgrade my membership to the free status, to take place AFTER my three month's PAID premium was over (at the END of October). I had read that it is very, very difficult to cancel a membership, so I wanted to be on top of it. I was ASSURED that my premium status would continue for the full three months and then be downgraded to the free status. Well, I just tried to apply for a job and apparently I'm already downgraded, so my application and message I took a lot of time to compose didn't go through! They just screwed me out of an entire month that I PAID FOR. This company is the worst! If you try to call, plan on either a 20+minute hold time, no response at all, or getting cut off. I am unbelievable frustrated at the complete lack of customer service, and when they finally do "help" you, they don't do it right! They care nothing about their members, they only want your money. I have completely wasted a lot of time and money with this corrupt company.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
