I booked and completed a job. The family processed the payment thru Care.com. I received an email from care.com stating that a third party processes payments. I entered my card information. They stated it would take about 3 business days to process. 5 days later no payment received. I emailed them and they are telling me that they either did not accept my information or I entered the information incorrectly. I agree with all the 1 star reviews.
Our current nanny lost her membership because she was at the hospital when a potential client called for a phone interview and she couldn't pick up. 3 minutes after this wacko client left a review, our nanny got an email saying her membership was terminated. Why would you take the word of some psycho woman who our nanny didn't even work for yet our nanny has a 4.5/5 stars and stellar reviews? Ridiculous.
I was a caregiver on their website for three years. I paid a fee each year to have my background check done. In March of 2015
They supposedly ran a background check on me which came back with incorrect information. I notified the background check company and they admitted to falsifying my information. I sent in the documents to prove that the information was incorrect and Care.com decided to take me off their website anyways! This affected my employment and livelihood. Not to mention that the employer I had at the time paid Care.com to run a background check on me a few months earlier and it came
Back clean. The background check company was sued for falsifying information on many people and that suit was won in August of this year. I was a recipient of that lawsuit. I contacted care.com to have my profile reinstated as my background check was proven in a court of law to be incorrect and they denied my request! I will be pursuing them legally. They will not own up to the fact that they did me wrong. They take our money and assume no responsibility for anything. I highly recommend that care seekers
And care givers run far away from this company
Used Care.com because someone gave me a gift certificate. But the company did not accept the certificate, said it was too old. Then I did not have a good experience with the dog sitter I found using the care.com service. I don; t think they really screen their service providers. I would recommend going somewhere else.
I used the service as a provider for 3 years. They deleted my account accusing me of a crime i don't know what they talking about and the rep name crystal tells me I know what I did stop lying. Rep name Jean told me I committed a crime. I'm trying to understand what crime did I do they won't say. Horrible company I get great reviews cuz I am a great person. Don't bad mouth my name if you can't tell me what you claiming I did.
I was looking for a care partner to help care for my mother. I reached out to at least 12 candidates and did not receive one response, even from the people that reached out to me. I suspect that the site uses bots and they are scammers just like Ashley Madison. Further, they charged another three month subscription fee after I had cancelled. I disputed with my credit card - will see how this seemingly unethical company handles.
Stole my money and closed my account. I contacted my bank to file a charge back. This site is a scam they claim to have refunded me 3 different amounts they never gave me. Once I told them I'd contact my bank they closed my account. Do fall for it they take your money and don't offer you a service.
I paid for 1 month of Premium Membership because I was interested in access to references, which otherwise did not appear on the Care.com website. Once I paid, I discovered there was no such feature at all. Everything else they claimed as exclusive membership benefits was freely available on the site. It may have been because the sitter I was interested in had a Premium Membership, but the point is, it was freely available to me. Care.com refused to refund my fee even though the service I was interested in did not exist, and my credit card company sided with them in the dispute because they actually say in their TOS, in the non-refundable clause, that they won't refund your money even if they don't provide what you are paying for. That makes their business model a scam, in my book. I'm attaching the screenshots I took to make my case. I don't hold it against my credit card company, and it's not a lot of money, but please be aware that you may get nothing for your money and you won't get your money back and it will be perfectly legal, because it's in their TOS.
After signing up, filling in our specific childcare requirements and paying $99, I sent messages to approx 30 potentially suitable candidates. After several days, a few responses began to come back in and they all said the same thing - 'I can't see your requirements on the website'.
I contacted customer service and they assured me that everything was visible. A week later I was contacted by another candidate who said the same thing... "I can't see your requirements".
I was unable to source anyone who could meet our 5 day childcare needs so I put Care.com down to a bad experience and found assistance on another site.
6 months later, Care.com took another $99 out of my account. No warning and no invoice. I sent customer service an email stating that I wasn't aware that there was recurring billing. And if anything the normal expectation would be after 12 months - not 6. I asked for my payment to be returned.
Not surprisingly Care.com have not had the decency to reply.
In my experience, Care.com provide a very poor service that is not worth a fraction of what they charge.
Care.com beware if anything bad happens to a sitter such as... a sitter finds drugs in the house, parents do not come home, if you report a family that you found on care.com, they will take you and the reported family off their site. You will never be let back on. I had some bad things happen to me and because I reported a family that were growing pot, and had other drugs (a lot of drugs they were selling). I thought it was in the best interest of the child to report them and I was punished by having my account taken down. Would if I had been there and some person broke in and hurt this child, knowing there were drugs in the house. I thought it was my responsibility to let Care know... apparently that's not the case. I had outstanding reviews and children truly loved when I came to babysit, I feel this is wrong on so many levels, as I volunteer for CASA and they didn't get this practice at all.

I have a Bachelor degree, clean background and a nice resume. I have a full time job but decided to look for a part time job. I created my profile more than 2 yrs ago and I keep it update. Not even one I have been contact for a job or a response for a job that I have applied. Not an email not a private message. When you read the customers job offers they are looking for someone asap, but they never want me?
I agree 100% with all the reviews on this site! Scroll down, ditto, ditto, ditto!
So, what's going on here? I have become very savvy to the way these crooks work over the months. Other premium members, too are voicing the SAME complaint - applying for jobs that are supposedly "delivered" yet the care-seekers aren't reading them?! I don't think they're getting them at ALL or I'll be generous and say the BULK of care seekers are not getting them OR the ads are BOGUS as others are saying so there are no REAL people behind the ads to read them. Bots are being used. I will apply within minutes and I mean MINUTES of the ads appearing and STILL they don't "read" them? IS this an IT problem or some oh so very suspicious machinations? The latter without a doubt! They are money-grubbing, unconscionable and provide the WORST customer service I have ever experienced!
And the automatic withdrawal system? I am set to be downgraded to basic from premium and it has me more than worried from all I've read. I have sent many a message to them to make sure this is done. We shall see... I may be back on here again! Another thing: they do not even have a legitimate phone number listed! I've called two different numbers and it rings and rings with no answer then cuts off! Read about the owner, too. How she interviewed the Sittercity execs like she was going to invest and stole ideas from them to start her own company!
My friend Tiffany and I decided a couple years ago to see how they go about hiring nannies and baby sitters. Well we received emails from them saying they were sorry but they could not accept us as caregivers due to our background checks. We don't know what they did or whose background checks they looked at but they actually told us that our background checks showed we had criminal felony records! Like seriously Care.com idiots? We have never been arrested our entire lives, never commited any crime. Get organized and make sure to not mix up peoples background check records. Care.com will be shut down soon. I have a brother who is a New York City district attorney and he will be investigating this site and shutting it down. Especially when the so called "nanny" they sent to another friend of mine turned out to be a lying, manipulative abuseive psychopath who stole money, jewlery and all kinds of other stuff And would tease and be mean to kids. A background check was done by my friend's boyfriend on the "nanny" girl and turns out she also had a major fraud record. She went directly to jail. Which is good.
Pulled my money and I couldn't do anything!
Called the number and was told that they would refund my money in 3 days and yet it took them less then 10 seconds to pull it. Such B. S..
Not one real reply to my applications, I have sent out over 30 in a month period. I am a paying member and highly qualified nanny with references, all I got was scammers.
I kept emailing care to raise concerns, all I got back was automated, impersonal BS responses. I have wasted over $90 on membership fees and background checks, not a single job lead. DO NOT USE THIS SITE! INCOMPETENT STAFF, BAD PROGRAMMING, FULL OF SCAMMERS!
Charging everyone. So many scammers. Almost impossible to tell who is legit or not. With the amount of money this company is charging, they should do a better job at this. This is heartbreaking.
To sum it up, here is one of the emails that I wrote to the company.
I recently sent an email to your company regarding my horrible experience with care.com.
After signing up for premium service and paying a fee and also paying for a background check and d/l check as well, I applied to many caregiver jobs that I am well qualified for and no legitimate response was ever received by a family actually looking for a caregiver. Instead I was contacted by 2-3 scam artists who tried to fool me into believing that they were for real. Each time, the care.com site shut down that persons membership after about 1 day that they contacted me and I had responded.
End result for me? I lost an entire week of my job search with no results, am out the membership fee, background check, d/l check and now fear that my identity might be stolen or my bank accounts attacked due to this whole really bad situation.
The only response I've received so far from care.com was a very generic email from your company saying that someone from your safety department would contact me. Up until this point, no contact has been received by me.
I've never had a worse experience in my life in looking for work and seriously doubt the credibility of your company.
Absolutely awful and frightening experience!
Don't waste your time or money on this company!
I contacted many potential nannies and babysitters through Care Dot Com, however I either did not received any returned messages or the girls never showed-up for our scheduled interviews.
I am learning that an online service, such as Care Dot Com, may not be a helpful resource as the virtual world does not have many people who would need to be accountable because of their "anonymity".
Finding people through word-of-mouth or through a friend, co-worker, colleague is much more reliable as people are more inclined to be reliable and accountable when their reputation is a part of the equation.
I would not recommend signing-up for Care Dot Com and their services because their profile of people are not dependable. I literally contacted every nanny/sitter in our area, close to 45 recipients, and nothing transpired from my pursuits to find one.
Save your money and use flyers or word-of-mouth to find reliable people.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
