Care.com is designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s families and caregivers, offering everything from household tax and payroll services and customized corporate benefits packages covering the care needs of working families, to innovating new ways for caregivers to be paid and obtain professional benefits.
The company generally receives positive feedback for its reliable service providers and the ease of finding suitable candidates for various needs, such as pet care and housekeeping. Customers appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of the service providers, which enhances their overall satisfaction. However, there are notable concerns regarding service reliability, with several reports of no-shows and difficulties in communication with applicants. Additionally, issues with the website's functionality and billing practices have frustrated users. Overall, while the service shows potential, improvements in communication and reliability are essential for enhancing customer experience.

I believe this company is a total scam who invent jobs / vacancies and in some cases pose as the potential employer or employee themselves to make you think that the service is genuine. I signed up for this service and paid for 25 'credits' for £19.00. Each 'vacancy' that I applied for cost me 3 credits - and to attach a personal message, another credit was required. As soon as I had joined, the 'perfect vacancy' appeared so I applied and entered into a wonderful 'conversation' with the potential employer. It seemed we were perfect for each other and neither could believe our luck at finding each other. My 'luck' however turned out to be too good to be true. As soon as I tried to arrange a meeting, and passed over my mobile number, this 'employer' ceased all contact, without informing me of her address or contact number (of course!) I found this really odd so complained to Care.Com and made my suspicions known about the 'employer' being fictitious as it had all seemed to perfect to be true. I was assured that there was nothing fictitious about Care.Com (of course) and they then said that they were going to intervene and contact this 'employer' to ask them to get in touch (which again I found really strange). Surprise, surprise, I then got a reply almost immediately from this fictitious employer, apologising and suggesting again that we meet. Again, this was the last I heard. I then continued to use up the rest of my credits applying for very local 'vacancies' that I would have been ideal for but heard nothing. What a waste of time, effort and money.
This company only cares about making money off of parents and sitters, alike. I've sent over 100 messages to different job postings and have gotten about 4 back and zero jobs. This is because parents can't see my messages until they pay for premium. I've paid and they also charged me for a background check that I didn't want. Very disappointing. Go to sittercity and urbansitter instead.
After 2 weeks of watching my one and a half year old and three year old. These two babysitters Alicia and Ashley we're late coming to my house twice and caused me to be late for work. I brought this up to them and ask them to be more responsible and more reliable and try to be on time, later on that day I get a call from the girl Ashley threatening me and threatening my child lives. Never again will I ever choose this place!
One star is way too much. I signed up for a service, got nothing. They refused to give me a refund. This is THEFT. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DESCRIBE IT.
CARE.COM = SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. They are in England so reaching them is next to impossible.
They invite you to post a job for free. However, you cannot send or receive messages from caregivers, unless you pay - and there are different levels of paying - to receive and send more messages or "quality" messages = more money. Stay away from this kind of site completely. In an age of AirBnb and uber, this kind of site and payment scheme is obsolete and harmful - espcially when considering they are representing "CARE" givers.
Don't use care.com to find a job or seek for services as an employer. This is completely fraudulent website which collects information and money from people. Don't worry that that are going to ban you, you are going to get banned anyway. They completely block all communication from both: job seeker and employer no matter if you try it for free or you upgrade your membership and pay fees. They need to be suit and pay the damages to us!
I hold a degree in education from a prestigious university. In addition, I have several years of experience as a tutor/teacher. I have been applying for nanny jobs in a very rural area, so it is not likely that these jobs are incredibly competitive. In each of my applications on Care, I have outlined my experience in a grammatically correct manner. Families can reply to your application only if one party has a premium account. Considering many of the families in my area were not premium members (which you have no way of knowing until you have sent your application message--huge waste of time), I gave in and paid for a three month membership. I still have yet to receive a single response to my messages, which leads me to believe either 1) both parties need to have a premium account in most cases, 2) the posts are not legitimate, 3) the parents do not know how to use the site properly.
This was a total waste of money and time. This site only works for a select few, seemingly at random. Parents and care seekers: PLEASE stop using this site as your main source.
I joined Care.com to try to find a caregiver for my elderly mother. As many have noted, the site is not easy to navigate and the phone function NEVER worked for me or the caregivers I contacted. What really frosts me is now, three months after signing up for what I thought was 1 period, I was charged an additional $45, purportedly because I had signed up for a Premium membership (I never knew this) and it is an ongoing subscription (also NOT CLEALY STATED). When I called to contest the charges, I was told it is the policy of Care.com that if there is no activity in the account for 30 days, getting a refund is not permissible. The company finally agreed to credit my account, but BEWARE WHAT YOU SIGN UP FOR AND KNOW ALL THE WELL-HIDDEN CHARGES! What a racket!
WOW. I really thought this website would help but at first no one was contacting me so they show me a "premium" option. Now, I'm a mom on the go, in a rush, all the time. In the premium option it says "$17/ month" then I see a couple days later $209 was taken out of my iTunes account. Now, nowhere in bold letters did it say "$209 yearly payment" so its one of those "we're going to trick you into thinking you're paying $17 a month when actually were going to take out a massive amount of $209" not to mention most of the people who contact me are just all machines with no pictures all saying the same thing. DONT USE THIS WEBSITE. Also, they're impossible to contact. Don't recommend.
Terrible site, a bunch of liars, thieves and cheats. You will get nothing for your money. They will promise you one thing and not deliver. Based out of Vancouver. Not surprising. Lots of scam artists out there.
Will $#*! UP YOUR TAX FILINGS,
WHICH PERMENANTLY $#*!S UP YOUR CREDIT SCORE
CANT GET MY 1040'S EITHER
THE TWO WEBSITES GO IN CIRCLES WITH EACH OTHER
CARE & HOMEPAY
$#*! YOU CARE.COM & HOMEPAY.COM
This company deducted renewal fee from my credit card without my notice. On the day I found the renewal happens, I cancelled the membership and asked them for the money back. They rejected to refund the membership fee they charged on my card.
I have over 20 yrs experience in senior care and working in the emergency department, an excellent resume and one person called me after that noone was interested, they choose another person Something is definitely wrong with this site, after my month is up I am not dealing with this site again.
Again they appeared in my job search, I was curious & read others recent experiencies
& I am astonished that this company has not been closed down due to the amount of complaints & disatisfaction & why its victims of this con have not got together for a class action, or is there no Fare trade practice watchdog in the US to investigate & shut down this kind of dodgy business?
They appeared in my in box, I have recently lost my job, so I registared, then I reliased you have to buy credits to bid for jobs ( oh it gives you three free ones to get started) & if you are unsucessful you still get charged credits, well you get 1 back so then of course you have to purchase more to continue ( 3 credits per bid) soo anyway my advice is to steer well clear & sign up & stick with Reed / Adzuma etc ps I have a promising interview coming up, ADDITIONALl (15/1/18), I had no Idea what kind of Hornets nest I would stir up, anyway from reading others experiences of this site it seems that both people looking for work & workers have had bad times with this site & another observation I would like to make is that a company based in Boston (USA) (there is one in the UK) what would they know about jobs in England (where I live) & be able to run background checks for both Employers & workers? As I said before stay away very dodgy & unsafe.
Their business model consists in getting someone to pay the fees once and renew their membership indefinitely without notice and get the users to pay the same fee over and over.
They never notified my that my membership was being renewed, they claim it is part of their T&C but who reads them?!?!?
Dishonest on all account, to be avoided!
I joined Care.com over almost 2 years ago, and I would say I have received 25-50% of my clientele with through it. The first client I ever pet sat for, I still sit for today and they are a serious blessing. I did everything the site asked me to do, and I earned the CarePro badge. I was never charged more than $20/month and I would earn that back with at least one new client a month. When I started, it seemed simpler. Now, not so much. I can't send my number through the messages, or my website, etc. I have to type it out in a weird format and that makes it harder to communicate. It is so much faster to get a call from someone than to set up a time and place to log in and take a call online. A lot of these clients are looking for last minute service. Another issue is there is a lot of spam. Most of the time, I can tell who they are because without any introduction they offer me an insane amount of money and are moving in from out of town, but it is very discouraging and a time waster to apply to jobs that aren't real. What really broke my motivation was that I would push it to get the CarePro badge only to have it stripped away each time within weeks. I'm the only one in my area who had it (and maybe they lost theirs as well) and it helps me stand out, but what is the point. The first time was from my first bad review from someone I never worked for and never even met. I responded politely, worked hard to earn more reviews then regained my 5 star status. Then a little while later it says that I need to respond to messages in 24 hours. That's fine, I have been doing that, but the Care.com in my area has been dead for over a month. That means I can apply to maybe one job, and if they don't pick me then I lose my ability to respond to messages and therefore, Care.com strips my CarePro badge. I have paid for a background check(that expires every so often and has to be repaid). I have 13+ reviews on my profile all but one that are 5 stars. I have applied to every job that is reasonable within a 50-mile radius. I am putting in the effort that Care.com asks its user to do and I am still being put down for it. They give you temporary rewards for a 110% work ethic. PLEASE, Care.com, help me help you. You're like the boyfriend who took me out a couple of times and now I just do your laundry in exchange for take-out Tuesdays.
This company is low down dirty and foul as they get. I paid for what I thought was a 1 month fee to join and never knew I would be billed every month. No email or alert telling you fees are being charged monthly. I use my card a lot and was looking for another charge and noticed I've been getting charged every month since September! This is a dishonest and sneaky way of doing business. I will have to file a dispute with my bank. Beware! Stay away!
Like the woman who founded the company, I am a busy mom of 2 taking care of my ailing mother in law. The site terminated me after the first time I looked for a sitter with no cause or reason.
When I asked why they had they replied "you were once a member of care.com and were terminated" when I replied "that isn't true, I've never done anything like this before they sent 2 emails explaining they can terminate anyone at any time for no reason.
Aside from being bizarre that I was removed, it was a lot of effort and money to sign up and time I didn't have. I would strong recommend not using this service.
Back in May 2017, I purchased a one month subscription for $49.00 as I was looking for a housekeeper. I was invoiced, I have the invoice still, that indicates the one month subscription. This was a waste complete waste of time and money as not one individual that was listed on care-aid responded to my ad or to any of my inquiries. It seems the housekeepers listed are old posts. Nevertheless, my subscription expired after the one month and I never went back to Care.com. Almost a year later, Feb 12/18 to be exact, I noticed a charge from Care.com on my VISA for $49.00. After contacting them, I was told when an individual purchases a subscription, the subscription would be automatically renewed - renewed - a year later? This is ridiculous - why offer a one month subscription then? Not only that, they charged my VISA but never sent me an invoice to put me on notice that a payment was put through. So they charge someone without their knowledge and the individual is not even using the site as they have no idea that the subscription is open again? This is absurd and a complete scam! I have VISA on notice and hope that everyone that does try this company out to pay attention to your VISA statements!
I try to write what I want to say my English is not so good. This site is a scam I am a long member on care.com 9 years never have trouble to find a job always got responses back even if the families did not want me to work for them or they found somebody already. Now after they want you to upgrade and pay and if you only do for a month they will not let find you a job they will try you keep looking and upgrade again. I don't know what to say shame on you care.com disgusting
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
