I was scammed before I had been a member for even 24 hours. I received several messages requesting my resume and I happily (naively) sent it. After receiving the exact same creepy email from every single account, I realized I had been scammed. And now they have my address (which was on my resume). Care.com notified me that the accounts had been closed, but would not provide the reason. I'm feeling very creeped out. Luckily I did not get so far as paying/giving my card info. I'm just a 21 year old college student trying to make some money this summer walking dogs, and I feel cheated.
After paying $156 for 12 months I booked Lisa S. And also sent her a message... or thought I did. Come to find out. It goes to the company, not the caregiver. She never showed up and now I have to make a huge adjustment for care tonight. It took me 2 hours to get a human on the phone and she told me I didn't book anyone. What?! I paid $65 for it! She told me she found something... after asking what type of card I used... uh oh. She said the caregiver hasn't answered her message (duh) and I just had to wait. I told her no I didn't, give me my money back now! She says she can downgrade me to the basic, even though I upgraded to Premium. Nope, I want a full refund. Puts me on hold. Comes back and says she'll make this one time exception and I'll see it in 72 hours. No! Today, I said. The 72 hours is the contractual obligation that I would have to pay for this month because I just signed up today. No, I want a full refund today, ok she says. And I'll see an email, so she says. We'll see if I get one. Be weary of this company. I understand the caregivers have to pay for membership for their jobs too. What a scam!
I had an appointment with Jasmin for 1:15 PM today Friday the 1`3th. She did not show
So I don't think I will be using your company any longer. Unreliable personnel.
SCAM. I have nothing good to say! They make you pay to use it and you cannot do anything really. Its the most disappointing thing, all i wanted was a job to get a little extra cash and i cant even do that on here.
I have used Care.com for years and I have never had a problem applying for jobs until now. Now the system will not allow the prospective employers to respond to my application unless I upgrade to their monthly charge. I am allowed to apply, but once I do, the person I applied to cannot answer my note of application. I'm very disappointed that this has happened.
Hi Beth! Families with Premium membership are able to reply to your application if they wish to, only one party has to be a paying member in order to exchange messages on the site. Best of luck on your job search!
Find a different company! They are happy to charge your credit, however you can't message caregiver (was looking for a tutor) and you are unable to message applicants and it took me almost a week to get in touch with "customer service". The make their phone number hard to find so you have to email - which I did, never heard back. Stay Away from this company!
- CHARGES sitters to apply for jobs
- Does NOT allow sitters to review parents
- Customer service is not helpful
I tried a few and was unable to find the right candidate over a span of a year. Stay away if looking for help on this site. The applicants I used where incompetents. Full of it and just need jobs. I had no time for it, So frustrating. Just go to domestic agency and pay for their experience in prescreening and investigations. They know the real deal. I pay 20% hire annual salary to agencies for my people but it pays in the end. The revolving door stopped.
I haven't even gotten as far as some, I just love animals & wanted to HELP others with theirs and instead you CHARGE people just to APPLY? What a crock! I've been listed on Rover.com for years & never paid a dime. This is awful PR... "care.com"... really? Do you? People are out there trying to make a few extra bucks & you want to CHARGE them just to apply? That is awful. Makes me want to start a site just like yours but not charge to apply for jobs... competition is the key, right? You should be ashamed!
After almost 10 years of providing nanny services, purchased credits that did nothing more than what the basic a membership already does, having five star reviews from every family and being an exceptionally professional example for this site I am so very disappointed in their lack of care for nannies as a whole- me especially. I had a VERY BAD experience with a family who hired me and I went to the administration and received no assistance. We should be able to review families and give THEM background checks because there are psychologically disturbed parents taking advantage, not communicating, being dishonest, and have overall poor dynamics in their households. How are nannies supposed to be aware of toxic environments without proper formats to distinguish and communicate? From all of the experiences that I've had, I can give much feedback about how greatly Care.com can improve to create better dialogue and awareness for not just the employers, but especially for the caregivers coming into a new family situation. More information needs to be collected, more questions need to be asked and reviews from caregivers need to be added. I reached out to management on several occasions about real concerns (not being paid, scammed, safety issues, etc) and they do not respond with any support. Hence, I do not think they care and they definitely just want to make money.
I am an seasoned nanny with over 10 years of experience. I have been hired through agencies that run back ground checks. I currently work part time FOR the government AT the courthouse. I have had my background check ran back and forth and up and down 100 times. Care.com does not scrutinize their background check information for accuracy. My account was flagged and removed based on a background check of another person with my same First and Last name (not middle) living in another state all the way across the country who had committed some crimes. My attempt at telling Care.com I am not the person in the background check was met with canned email responses stating the decision is final. They state they told anyone I was in contact with that I had been removed as well. This is defamation as the families I had been working with are now under the assumption that I did something wrong. Not to mention it is unnerving that they seem to just grab onto the first background check information that comes up and is kinda close. What if someone with a real background lucks out and pulls a clean record? The site sucks... use sittercity.
I'm single mom who been struggling for financial support apply for many job included care.com think while i'm waiting for some job to contact me back i have time after i drop my son school. I can clean or taking care of children or elderly. Trust and spending a big 45 dollar for membership but once nothing in 3 month for a try on get no job. They keep email me to continue pay for more money to be better membership. I dont think so. I think this website have corrected so much money from people like me.
Care.com does not allow communications when applying for positions unless continual upgrade fees are paid. Seems to be a large amount of misrepresentation of what Care.com truly offers to all clients.
This site is constantly targeted by hackers, I have reported it to the company and was removed, they don't like critiques, wonder why? Now fellow Jobseekers and Victims, why don't we ALL get together and do something about that, File a lawsuit against them for theft, misrepresentation, etc. With all of us against them, how can we loose. Complaining is one thing, it wont give us back our money or our jobs, what they are doing cant be legal, and to kick people off their site without any legal reason is against our constitution, because its keeping us from getting a job. If a legal firm can be found that will file a major Lawsuit against them, we can all contribute money to pay for it, but I believe the right attorney will take this case, and we can pay him from the proceeds, it should be possible to find a good lawfirm, what about that lawfirm that suit WELLS FARGO, that is the kind of Legal help we need. Come on lets get them, There is a young lady already looking into this this is America, we only have to stand together and fight, so no one else will have to put up with their malpractices. Talk wont do nothing its Time for action.
Save your time and money. This company is just there to rip you off, nothing more.
They will keep charging your card with no obvious service.
At no time are you advised the monthly premium is not a one off. You are advised to cancel your subscription but there is no way to do this on the account settings - I find this dishonest. The terms state you will receive email updates etc - I have had no contact since Sept 2017 and have been charged £49.00 per month for NO SERVICE at all. I am going to trading standards right away as this stinks -they do not return calls. The company directors are all in the USA from companies house information & linkedIn accounts suggest they are aiming for a global market. They have a noted registered address in London, NW1 3ER (probably their accountants) but there appears to be no base in the UK in case you need to get hold of anyone! I am fuming that I have been relieved of £294.00
Nowhere was I told that there would be a $2500 fee for recommended senior living locations. Not on the website, not in the terms of use and not by the employee who called me on the phone. It is a scam.
Buyer be warned! They don't tell you that the cost of service is a recurring fee and then you can't get out of it. It's also very hard to find their phone number. When you do get in touch with them they tell you you're wrong and you can't get a refund. They are a terrible company... cheating people and taking advantage of everyone. Forget it!
Wow, what a messed up company. I joined and entered an JOB posting for my elderly mother. After 3 weeks of no responses I noticed the posting was still "PENDING". So I contacted customer support which finally approved it. I then told them that my membership was expiring in a week and I expected it to be extended because they took so long to approve my job. After they refused to do this, I responded back that I would be disputing the charge with VISA.
In the meantime I started interviewing a number of caregivers that responded. And mid-way through the process... Care.com just deleted my account without warning. I guess because they were butthurt I was going to contact VISA. The whole experience was ridiculous and not sure how they are still in business doing things like this.
Buyer Be Warned. Once you sign up to this site you will NOT be able to get a refund for any reason and you CANNOT delete your credit card information or personal information. Once you do a search the only way you can get more information about the candidate is to pay them. Once you pay them, you still don't get to call them or even give them your phone number. It will be blocked! Try to run a background check even after signing up and paying more and that won't work either. Try to do a search for a specific person and you get everyone. Try to tell them about your problems and they just remind you there are no refunds. This company has one goal. Get you to sign up and pay for as much as possible and take your money. I gave them over a $100 and got nothing in return. Nada, Zilch, Zippo! Total scam artist!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
So sorry this happened, Frank. I suggest writing a review on Jasmin's profile to share your experience with other families who might be interested in working with her. We wish you all the best, Frank!
