Care.Com is a very dangerous company for your children and your loved ones. They refer people that are scammers, commit fraud, predators, people that can steal your identity. They hide into making you think that they will find the right nanny or caregiver or housekeeper for your family. You really take a risk and put your family in danger when using this company. People are not qualified. They do not have criminal backgrounds and most of the people are weird and dysfunctional. You have to run your own criminal background. I will never advice any parent and caregiver to use Care.Com. On top of that, they have very high charges and they lie to you. They treat you like a number. They also run a criminal background of people without their consent or signature. They don't care for the safety of your family. All they care about is making money and treat you like a number, not like a human being. They also charge your account without your consent. The worse experience ever. Please be aware of this company. Use a reputable agency if you are looking for a nanny, housekeeper, caregiver. This company get people off the streets with no experience, people that have DUIs or some kind of criminal background. Their management is very bad. They never want to talk to you when it comes to a concern, dispute, or questions at charge. They claim to be members of Nanny associations, but anyone can become members of those organizations. They are not properly screened. This site is like a dating site pretty much. Very dangerous.
As of today, I experienced their horrible means of handling account terminations. They sent me an email about a week ago requesting that I submit a background check. I followed the prompts and received a confirmation email thereafter. I then get an email yesterday stating that my account had been closed because I did not take action to a previous email they'd "sent" me regarding my background check. I replied to that email stating that I never got the email about my background check. The rep told me that I was given 10 days to review the report and if there was no response then my account would be closed. Well, long story short after talking to 3 different reps and one rep from Sterling Talent (company who handles their background screenings) I was told that they in fact "sent" the email, I "opened" the email and that there is nothing they can do no matter what I said. They said they have strict policies about these type of situations and that I will no longer be able to use their services again. I hung the phone up because it was obvious they didn't care about what I was telling them and that they were not going to do proper investigation. I had my Care account since I was 13 years old and I am in disbelief seeing this is where the company is at with customer service. However, I am glad I didn't pay for anything during the time I was a member.
I can go on raving about the business itself for both Caregivers, and Careseekers. I had experiences from both sides and it's not what it's all chalked up to be. I kept my account simply because I have my own cleaning business and I would get quote requests every once in a while but if you are looking for work be ready for a long waiting game just to get maybe one message a year for a job offer that is more than likely someone scamming people.
If I could give a negative review I would. I have been a preschool teacher for the past 6 years. A couple of months ago, I decided that I wanted to work with children and their families on a more personal level. I paid the $60 for care.com and I was able to get one single babysitting job before they shut down my account. I was not able to get a hold of a person, just a stupid robot. I emailed them and they said they terminated my account and by law they dont have to tell me why. I am a law abiding citizen, if I wasnt, then I wouldnt have had a career in child care. They are not reimbursing my $, which makes me even more pissed off. They stole from me. A bunch of thieves. DONT use care.com
I hhave been a trusted, well reviewed member ( as a care giver) of Care for three years. I have been working as a care provider with a listed background check that entire time. Recently, care flubbed up my background check. Unfortunately, this happens with my common name but when I asked them to fix the situation they said that they had already suspended and cancelled my profile. I have an emaculant record ( not even a parking ticket) and have been paying $20/month for their service for years. To what end? I lost all of my client reviews that were submitted to care, my standing, history and my good background check. Thanks Care for sucking up that $20/month from a hard working care giver and not even keeping fail safes for when you mess up. I do not recomend this site. Try Nanny Quest or Angie's list first.
I upgraded to the premium and I received my confirmation email and a receipt but the premium does not work. You can not access your messages without have premium. So I lost money and can't get it back because they keep saying that the information didn't go through and it's just a waste of time and money to deal with them.
I wish I would have reads all of these reviews first. I signed up and applied for a couple of jobs. Then was notified nobody could respond to me unless I paid at minimum $20/mth. Prepaid the 'recommended' 3 months for $45. I found the website so confusing to use as far as different service profiles, different message boxes, not being able to switch back and forth, not being able to access messages, not being able to withdraw my credit card so I wouldn't get automatic renewal, decline of a refund after only 1 week despite not getting any jobs - wish I wouldn't have bothered. Spent $45 without getting a single job first. DONT USE THEM!
They closed my moms account and mine, multiple times for "no reason"... I'm sure the reason is that we were getting hired and didn't need to pay for any of their extra costly services. It sucks because you work on your profile and never get those numbers of references back.
After I been a member over 10 years with care.com they determined my profile with out reason and excuses. I m shocked. They been collect all my information SSN, home and residential adress and one day just closed my account. I m so upset what we have this organization who only collect money from us and financial information. Please be so careful to share anything with them.
Care.com charged my monthly fees for over 12 months and didn't credit my card despite never using their service during that time. There is no phone number listed to talk to a rep and to discontinue the service you have to click discontinue multiple times and it is difficult to find where to cancel the service on their site. I believe care.com knows this based on the FAQ's on their site. Beware! Don't use! Bad business who doesn't care about their customers and knows not all members check their bill.
After one month I saw my interest in applying for clients where not going through the next month care.com went in my bank account with out my consent and because men started contact me out of control for inappropriate work clearly they where not montering the clients nor do they properly care about people who clearly are looking for work on this site the last lady I worked for refused my pay because I refused to go to a party with her and her husband to sit with her mom that was very inappropriate yet this site is called Care.com...
All I did was sign up, looking for a local, community person, for housekeeping once a week. I paid for the premium service wanting to know who was coming in and out of my house (like any person with some common sense). I gave them all my personal information, I upgraded so that I could see background checks on the individuals that I would be allowing into my own home. I provided them with a photograph. My only basic terms (in my 850 word description) was that I was seeking somebody who would not bring children into my home when they were cleaning because I have large dogs, and would not want to risk liability on my end... Reasonable, wouldn't you think? Can't think of anything else I did wrong. Within two hours "they decided" I was in violation of their contract - when all I did was follow THEIR rules... the guided way to post for my service I was in search of. I basically paid $25 to spend an hour and a half of my time creating a profile that would only get shut down 120 minutes later. I'm so glad I paid $25, to work for two hours, on my day off, on a weekend. And yes, I've also now complained to the BBB. What a JOKE - all I was seeking was a service, and wanting to provide someone with a weekly part time job that was RELIABLE INCOME!
My account was closed on Friday the 13th and I think I know who did it. An angry mom was was seeking revenge. It's completely unfair on Care.com'a part. They don't let me dispute, so basically anyone can lie and complain about me and they'll take it as that. Also Care.com in the fine print under "terms and conditions" can close an account for no reason at all if they find a member in violation of guideline but yet they don't investigate? I will never recommend that BS website again and I read in other threads that Care.com makes fake accounts of parents. No wonder I was never getting replies back. Go to a nanny agency instead.
My husband finally noticed a recurring payment to cci: care.com $42 a month, the premium plan! We paid this for 14 months. We don't have kids, no dogs or no elderly people that need care. Somehow I was signed up for this service. Almost impossible to figure out how to cancel this charge. Even going through the site map didn't give an option for cancelling. I finally found instructions online on how to cancel membership in this fraudulent company. First I had to downgrade my membership from premium to basic. After that was done, I found a link to cancel. They took over $500 of our money for no services. Shame on us for not noticing, but shame on them for fraudulently signing people up for this without their permission.
Have been trying to get a job as a nanny. Have applied to 10 jobs a day for 1 month. Even upgraded my membership to premium
NOT A SINGLE RESPONSE! I have excellent local references credentials and lots of experience. Amazed to read other reviews
And to learn other people have the same issues with the site. I get better response on craigslist. Waste of time and $$$.
I tried to apply to care.com after being given the option to enroll as a care-seeker or a care-giver. I chose caregiver and the site indicated that I needed to upgrade in order to proceed to job postings. So, I did. When I went to access my profile I noticed that I was listed as a care-seeker and there was no way to change this setting. When I went to retract my membership one of the options for 'why' was that I accidentally signed up as a care-seeker instead of a care-giver and was not refunded any money. I do not believe it is any coincidence that the site has this set up this way and I caution anyone trying to get a job on care.com as a caregiver. Who would want to work for a slimy company aiming to trick applicants into subscribing incorrectly, anyway?
After notifying care.com about a untrustworthy caregiver who has a history of embezzling they have her highlighted as excellent and also are listing her newly formed business. There are 2 partners one is a sneaky, liar and the other has a criminal record. If you live in Vermont or New Hampshire be aware of this new group. I think their goal is $$$ and vetting companies is not their problem. Please be careful of care.com
Dont waste your money trying to find good help on care.com. Either you get no reply, or they commit and don't show! No reliable help! After numerous attempts trying to find a cleaning person, I'm done. What a waste of time and money. Might as well blindly try hiring off the street. So disappointed.
Full of scammers posting jobs. Even with a paid subscription and keeping on top of "new" job openings... 95 Percent of my messages show they were never opened! I just keep getting things like this.
This is my second time trying to use this site to get a sitter. Only a 77 year old women responded that she was unavailable. The younger girls don't answer when you post for a babysitter needed. These people "young adults" post availability but don't answer you back. Waste of my time. And why do i have to pay a membership. Also what's the deal with this website. Can't download the app i have to keep going into my App Store to check on my job posting/ applicants. STAY AWAY...
These days you are better off getting help through local sites like nextdoor digest.
You sign up for one month and then they charge you every month regardless that you signed up for '1 month'. They make it very tricky trying to close your account and there is not a single point of contact on their web site - so no where to call or complain to. Of course!
It is a big money maker and that's it
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
