Stay away from ordering online from Cabelas! This is a warning to everyone that they will rip you off! I used to order tons of items, did most of my Christmas shopping with them and now I will never purchase from them again.
An item I ordered and paid for was back ordered so I decided to wait for the item. While waiting they have charged me 2 additional times (this totals 3 times I've paid for this one item) and it has been nothing but a battle to get my money back. They have informed me that this item was discontinued... so why do they charge me continuously for this item?! They keep telling me its a "pre authorization fee"... why do you need pre authorization for an item I already paid for when I placed my original order and an item that I am not going to be receiving because its discontinued?! I am so disappointed with them. I was also told on the phone that they would get a manager to contact me with a resolution to this issue as it was in fact their error and its now been 5 days and I have not heard a word.
Ordered some small items for my Traeger grill, They charged me $12,95 to ship it, which was fine. About an hour later a notice from my bank that another $30,92 was charged from Cabela's, Never Again!
Ok i purchased a Garmin fish finder online on sale I was at the lake. All was fine till it got into the hands of UPS. Was to be delivered monday morning. So waited at home for it. At about 11 i received an update say now delivered in afternoon so went out. About 3/4 of an hour later ups shows up and i talk to him on my ring and sez cannot leave there need your photo id and cannot leave or have neighbours sign for it. So go home and call ups and they say sorry driver must have been speedy will send out a request and will have delivered later in the day. So i stay home. By 4:30 no ups so i call back again and they say sorry on truck for delivery tommorow but if i want can go pick up but wait an hour before going. So now i'm getting smart i call first and they say sorry it's on the truck and they can't get it
Next morning receive an email or for delivery before 11:15. So i wait. No delivery them get a notice will be delivered before 4:30. So I wait. And o receive an email just after 12 saying it's delivered? I call back and they say sorry it's still on the truck. But I should get it by 8 pm. wow. Yes he came in the afternoon and i si receive it but whaste two days of my life waiting for it. I dod call Cabela's to complain and a fellow i spoke to apologized and said would get back to me. No such luck. Called back to speak to the manager but he was not in that day and the lady i spoke to said he would call me in the morning. No such luck. I finally have called head office but the person I spoke to said there was no one there who looked after online service?!?Said someone would look into it and get back to me. Not holding my breath. Avoid online purchases. They are a pin in the you know what and not worth the hassle

I bought a rifle from Cabella's in Nanaimo, it has never worked properly, they provide a warranty only until it leaves the store so you are SOL if something doesn't work and you can hardly try it out in the store.
Same brand and size but different sex and costs more cause mens versus womens. Bull$#*!. 2022 and this company does this. What if a women buys a gun versus a man different price? Bull$#*!!
Bought a $2300. Rifle scope from the Ottawa store 2.5 months ago and they mounted it on the rifle and bore sighted it. Went out on the weekend for the first time to shoot it. Couldn, t hit a 3ft. X 3ft. Piece of plywood at 50 yards. Then we realized the bolts were finger tight and the scope was moving. When we tried tightening the bolts with what tools we had we over tightened 1 bold and broke it. We went back to Cabelas and talked to the gun dept. manager who basically told us to call Burris and that their 30 day warrenty was over. I mentioned that the bolts were not tightened therefore not torqued and it was never boresighted he said that the temperature had changed and loosened the bolts. A complete brush off after giving them our business. Shame on Cabelas Ottawa
I have ordered very few things from Cabelas, the first of which was a big ticket item and they screwed up large, I have attempted to give them redemption for the $#*!ty service at first and now I am seriously done, WTF Cabela's you suck
I ordered an item for store pick over two weeks ago. There is no tracking process and difficult to contact customer service. A waste of time. Very disappointed.
Ordered a restriced firearm over 2 weeks ago. Today I called to see the status of the order (online account they show you nothing but what you ordered) and I found out they have not done anything at all with the order. They didn't start the process of the paper work for the CFO nothing it was like the order was put on a shelf and forgotten about. So now I have to wait for them to pull the firearm and start the paperwork process and that will be done whenever they get around to it. Another week another 2 weeks whenever. I will NEVER EVER ORDER ONLINE FROM CABELA'S AGAIN. And yes the product is still listed as in stock like it was when we ordered it. So disappointed.
Placed an order over the phone since the online website does not accept Basspro Canada gift cards even though it's a Cabelas/Basspro Website. So you have to call in. It's been over 3 weeks since I have placed my order and I reached out to Facebook team to ask for a tracking number, I was told I had to call in, I have called in 3 separate times, each time waiting over an hour on hold to get through, just to be told "everything is fine and to keep waiting", later the Facebook team messages me and says that my address doesn't match. Which means the lady that placed my order over the phone screwed up imputing my address, it took them 3 weeks to communicate this to me, and that's with me chasing my order. Still waiting on hold as I type this waiting to fix this. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!
Purchased a wood fire pit and proceeded to wait an entire month to get the package. They overcharged me on my CC by 30.00 - took me an hour on hold to get that fixed. They said it was for extra shipping which was already billed on my invoice - not sure how that happens on their end. When finally getting the fire pit I found it was missing the legs. This fault lands on the product manufacturer (Landmann Patio Lights) but it's how they handled it that bothered me. Once again it took an hour on hold to get through. Once one the phone they told me they had no more stock and couldn't help me with another. I asked for some compensation so I could make the legs myself and they offered me 40.0 GC. I said I needed at least a hundred as I would have to by the steel and spend time making it. They said that was all they could do. I have wasted 2 hours on the phone with these people and I hate returning stuff. All in all I would have felt better about just burning 200.00 and call it a day than to wait on hold only to argue with the people that just screwed me over. Cabelas, you have a long way to go.
Fraudulous sale and bad service bought a knife was advertised as a 551-1 20cv blade and g10 handle. Cabelas send me an frn handle and 154cm wich in benchmade catalog worth a lot more and is a better quality knife. After seeing that i have bait and switch scammed i got offered deceitfull way of solving the problem. I counter offered fair resolvment wich got declined. I am now in the process of filling an official complaint with the competition bureau. Would not do business with cabela again
On top of it all they erased my review on their website
December 5th I ordered a Yedi Cooler during a free shipping promo. Since the item was over sized an extra shipping fee was applied. I was aware of that and paid with my credit card. The item arrived on schedule. The problem is they applied another $21 over the agreed upon cost. I called to inquire on or around December 12th and was told it was a charge that will disappear in a few days it was because the item was shipped from a retail store rather than a warehouse. To make a long story short it's now Jan 28th and 3 phone calls later no refund. There excuse is the busy holiday season, yada yada yada, we're working on it. In this day and age there is no excuse for this. We've all returned items and received credits to methods of payment almost instantly. They're quite quick to bill are cards they should have a system to perform a refund too. It's quite obvious they're banking on most customers likely not even noticing this and or forgetting about it. All I can say is I will never buy from Cabela's again.
I went to add my son to our LEH group as his license had expired, and was told I could not because I was not the person who opened the group, so I left, told my husband I wasn't able to add our son to our group he said I should be able to as I'm in the group, so I went back and asked again, then was told they could do it but she just wanted to let me know it wasn't the way it was supposed to be done. She kept telling me she didn't have the information she needed, so I left again, told my husband what they needed and he said she should have everything she needs on the two forms I presented. So I went back again and asked her to look at the forms again, she apologized and saw the information she needed. In the end I still wasn't able to add our son to our draw, she said the care card photo copy wasn't good enough she needed the numbers on the back of the care card. I told her she wasn't very helpful as all the information she needed was given and she just didn't look, she said she was sorry I felt that way. We will bring the care card in and they can have the numbers on the back, which are the same on his brothers care card, so why are these #'s to an individual helpful?
I bought the wrong size of boots for my son and I had to return it but they didn't send me a label for me to pay a cheaper return rate of delivery, so, It cost me 20 dollars with Canada Post!
Love the front line staff…. Love the store…but the online & shipping experience is simply dreadful…. Can't risk it again!

I placed a order on November 25th for a 10 tray dehydrator. The sale started only hours before. Didn't show out of stock or anything like that. Like other items did. So my money was taken and waited 2 weeks and still not shipped. So I called. They told me it would be out by Friday. So I waited. The next person said I wouldn't recieve it till January because there waiting for another shipment. Then the 3rd said it was discontinued and they can't send me one. I said they show stock in Ottawa and they replied they can't remove items from stores to be shipped. So they offered me another dehydrator and offered to take $10 off and ship it rushed. Yet the one I ordered was $130 off. So then he offered rush shipping. I just said again if it wasn't for your company lieing to me. I could of had one by now. 3 stories from 3 people. Do they even have a clue what there doing or talking about? Then offered to cancel my order and send me a $20 gift certificate. How generous after me waiting for this as a Christmas present for someone only days till Christmas. Plus almost a month later. How convenient and considerate of them. Not to mention my first order. Good first impression and customer service cabelas.
Bought a Shimano Reel that I paid over $400 for. It is now 23 days and still nothing (shipping to BP). Supposed to collect at the store. Super stupid slow shipping. I reached out 2x to get an update. The first response was "soon" and when I sent a sarcastic reply - you aren't doing your job email I finally got an answer that my reel was sent out and will take 4-5 days to get here by truck. That was April 17 and still nothing. Guys I made the purchase on April 6th! Why so slow when you are showing stock. That's why I bought from you but it appears that was not true as I have purchased from other local fishing stores and had it shipped out the next day Also there is no way to get an update online or to see your shipping status - you need to get with the times guys. This is pathetic. The local mom and pop shops are doing much better than you guys. This will be my last large fishing purchase from you guys. I feel like I was lied to just to get my order.
Update: following up on my order after 16 days - this is the response: Unfortunately, items purchased to be delivered to the store do not come with tracking. You will have to wait for the store to contact you when it arrives and is ready for pick up.
I find it hard to believe that you cannot get me a better answer - just laziness is all. I work in Manufacturing and EVERY order I ship out I can get an update on its location and ETA, so for Cabela's to say this to me is Bull $#*!
You know management doesn't give a $#*! because they do not respond to any of these bad reviews
Another update. I was told AGAIN by a rep at Cabela's that my reel was shipped on April 17 and would be 4-5 days, That was 9 days ago I got the first email and they just sent me the same email again. Everyday I just keep getting more pissed with this second rate company. Whoever is in charge of customer service deserves to lose their job, a monkey could do better. Cabela's you suck!
