Ordered a hood vent. Came in damaged. Contacted and got a replacement "coming" urgently, as it was holding up the whole project, which is on a tight time line with a baby coming... a week later the "urgent" shipment still hasnt shipped, even though its apparently in stock and the CS person requested to ship straight away!

Ordered bathroom fixtures and was contacted by ABF (contracted by Build.com) for delivery. Agreed to day of receipt and then got an email from Buid.com saying I got a credit two days before the delivery. ABF had returned the fixtures to Build.com and no one contacted me to say they were not going to delivery in two days on the agreed delivery date. No communcaitions from anybody so I could not make other plans. Now have to change the construction schedule as a result. Reliability and good communication is essential, this as about as far from that as it gets. At least I did no have to battle over the credit, since it was already issued.

Inventory Issues
March 29, 2018

Placed an order for two light fixtures, website indicated 71 in stock and 2-day shipping. Turns out they had ZERO in stock, and wouldn't ship for over a week.

We work with our vendors to have the most updated stock feed on our site and I am sorry this was not the case for your order. Because all lighting products come directly from the manufacturer our stock feed is directly attached to their feed. If a customer at a different location purchases a bulk order slightly before our request is posted this can cause the item to go into backorder status at the time of processing. Purchased a hanging light with the expectation that I would receive the same product as listed. Unfortunately, I did not go to the manufactures site first to look at the specs. The fixture listed on Build.com stated G9 bulbs, but what I received and what was printed on the box was "uses 1 A19 bulb. Not a big deal but I purchased the G9's elsewhere and had to return them. The best part was when I emailed Build.com of the listing error, the customer service person insisted the fixture used G9's and that came from the manufactures web site. I replied back with a link to the manufactures site showing the fixture uses only a19 bulbs. No response from Build.com. I have used this company many times prior with no problems. Build.com, next time read the *ucking box.

Read below my review... these people are advertising items as in stock that they do not actually keep in stock. Basically everything is drop chipped... they do not stock much in house. So their in stock status is a load of bull. Worse they constantly gave me updates it would ship tomorrow. Then it failed to ship... then o. K. tomorrow for sure... then failed again.
Simply put stay away from these scam artists... customer service is worthless... they have no idea what is going on. You might as well ask a 4 year old on the street whats up with your order.
Still... my order has not shipped..

I placed an order with build.com and was charged for the full order even though they sent me an email days later that the items were not in stock and wouldn't ship til mid-April-order placed beginning of March. They did end up sending me a 1/4 of my order and the items were damaged. When I called customer service the guy on the phone kept pushing for my credit card number to charge me for the replacement until I returned the damaged pieces and then said never mind when I refused just to hand him my credit card number over the phone. They had already charged me the full amount of my order so they have a couple of hundred dollars of mine already. I canceled the rest of my order that had not been shipped and with them. Let's see how fast they refund the money for product I never received. I am filing a complaint with my credit card company.

We apologize that the items purchased went on backorder after ordering. We do carry made-to-order items and depending on the product this can happen. We ask for the card number for a replacement, not to charge immediately, but to have it on file if we do not receive the original product back after 30 days. We do not keep customer's credit card information on file unless they permit it. Because of this, we have to ask for it again for our records just in case. We apologize if the representative you spoke to did not make this clear on the call as this should be commented on every time. Thank you for your time.

Build.com promises a delivery dates on the website, and in the order confirmation email. Next day, they send a email with a new shipping date delayed by four weeks (!). But in order to cancel you need to spending a 30 minutes on hold waiting for a human being, instead of including cancel order link in the email where you are informed of the delay.

Stay away from this sight - the in-stock / inventory claims of the website border on fraud.

We try to provide the most accurate feed from manufacturers and vendors but, unfortunately, because of first come first serve we may be updated by the manufacturer/vendor that the last of the product was purchased slightly before another order is placed. We apologize also for the hold time as our call volume is higher in the month of March. After much review, decided to buy a certain model refrigerator. Build.com web page displayed they had 12 in stock. I contacted them twice before ordering to be sure it was available. It was, they assured. Placed an order for the appliance and extended warranty. A day later, I received an email stating that they had cancelled the order for the refrigerator do to a stocking error, but would send the extended warranty.? It took 30+ minutes of telephone hold time to get thru to cancel the warranty portion of the order. Not a good company to purchase products...

I am a project manager for an interior design company, and free lancer for a wellknown consumer organization. I was sceptical ordering after seeing all the negative reviews. I voiced this in a pm thru FB and a rep, Mr. Storm Martinez. After speaking with the rep, I tried ordering a fridge and decided if that went ok I was ordering 3 other appliances for 2 beach condos. The fridge sales price was $2875. My online order failed, and in an error msg, it said to call. After 2 days back & forth, where Mr. Martinez was to send me an offer on all, he informed me Samsung raised their prices and the fridge now costs $3375! This company has a very dishonest business approach. I have spoken to my editor and we intend to expose some of their practices. I suggest to avoid, read trustpilot reviews, google etc. and see for yourself.

We sincerely apologize that the pricing of the refrigerator you were interested in changed after your search. Pricing can change depending on sales provided by the manufacturers, etc. Without the item being placed on order, we cannot guarantee the price will stay the same from one day to the next as promotions may end. Seeing as an order was not placed for the item during this promotion we cannot provide the discount after the fact. We again apologize that this happened for the item you were interested in. If for whatever reason the pricing cannot be adhered to after a purchase we will not send out a different product, instead, we will make sure the customer is refunded in full and an apology is made for the error. I bought a sink thru Amazon, Build.com took 15 dollars for returning the sink unused of course. They never discolosed anything about a restocking fee, but on the back end after obtaining a prepaid label from Amazon, Build.com charged 15 dollars for returning an item, and we had no idea till the money was deducted from the originial paid price. I would never ever buy from them again, nor should anyone else ever.

A bathroom vanity I'd received developed a crack while under warranty. The store sent a duplicate and asked me to return the first one. It involved removing it, which was a big job and then installing the new one. When it arrived and I saw that the packaging had been seriously damaged, I sent photos to someone in the president's office. She was wonderfully responsive and helpful. What could have been impossible was made easier by her attitude and efforts. I've found that the people in Customer Service can't always do what those in the executive office can, and I'm so grateful that this worked out as it did.

BUILD.COM IS TERRIBLE! WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE I MADE ORDERING FROM THEM. THE SHIPPED THE WRONG ITEM, AND I AM STILL WAITING TWO MONTHS LATER FOR A REFUND! PAYPAL ALSO DROPPED THE BALL, I HAD TO BUG THEM, AND BUG THEM, AND ESCLATE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN... STILL WAITING...

I had to go through PAYPAL to request a refund, and then a week later, I had escalate it in PAYPAL before I finally got a response from this AWFUL WEBSITE.
Then I had to package it back up, download a packing ticket, contact UPS and have them pick it up. I guess I will not be getting the correct light fixture I ordered because I still have not had any response from BUILD.COM other than they agreed to a refund... but at least PAYPAL is getting me a hard earned refund... WHAT A DEBACLE! NEVER USE BUILD.COM AGAIN>>>>

Ordered some items from build.com. They were all shipped individually which was interested, but one bathroom light fixture took over 10 days to arrive at my home. Sadly it was completely different from what I ordered and paid for. After waiting on hold for some time, and speaking to a rep. I was required to photograph the item and then email it to them. To which I still have not gotten a response. I HAVE WASTED A HUGE AMMOUNT OF TIME... I had to file a claim with Paypal. Hopefully I can get money back and then start over looking for a light fixture. I will never use them again no matter how nice they seem... its just not worth it..

Buyer Beware

Wish I could give them ZERO stars. I was advised that my products would ship within 2 days (17 days and counting for a replacement set) and that the fixtures were new (tool marks on the pipe, damaged shower head, smudges and water marks all indicating that this was a returned item). My sales rep has not returned any of my calls or emails. Never Again!

I would have given them ZERO stars, but I had no choice but to give them one star.

I have never experienced anything close to the fraudulent interaction I had with Build.com yesterday.

I would consider myself an educated consumer and order a lot of merchandise online, and I can tell you that Build.com is by far the worst online company with the worst cancellation and refund practices I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

Now that I have done my research (I should have looked them up BEFORE I got tangled up with them), I see that Build.com has thousands of complaints against them and one of the worst online company ratings I have ever seen.

They tout themselves as a website for builders, but in reality, they are in the business of ripping people off.

I also noticed after my unfortunate dealings with them, that they have no cancellation policy. I am assuming thats because they make it nearly impossible for unsuspecting customers to cancel their orders.

I am hoping to get a full refund of the $1,970.11 they fraudulently charged me. But regardless of what Build.com decides to do, I was luckily able to dispute the charge through my credit card company.

Build.com lied about delivery and then lied about the order being processed a half an hour after I placed it, even though I was sent an email letting me know that the order would not be delivered until 3/5/18, despite their promise that the delivery would be received on 2/9/18.

Build.com is nothing more than liars, who deceptively and purposefully engage in fraudulent business practices.

Until I receive a full refund, I have decided to spend my entire day and days until my refund is posted, sending out bad reviews about Build.com.

DO NOT order anything from Build.com unless you are prepared for nothing but aggravation. And be aware that canceling orders once they are placed is all but impossible.

From the reviews (all really bad) that I have seen on BBB, this is their modus operandi.

In many of the online complaints, I see that their business practice is to give people an extremely hard time canceling orders, even if it is immediately after ordering, as was my unfortunate experience. And getting a refund is also near impossible, so good luck.

You should also be careful when ordering on Amazon that Build.com is not the seller.

From what I've read, they they find a way to rip people off through Amazon as well.

Through a very nice rep, I ordered expensive Grohe parts for our bathroom redo. Everything arrived timely except the main trim--the part that controls the water--even though Grohe showed it as having arrived. That was soon corrected and another reordered. First rep dealing with the problem admits they do not have part in stock, and they are still in Germany and will not leave there for 2.5 weeks. When it still not not arrive 3 weeks later, I recalled. Still can't find part. Website throughout all this shows they have 3 in stock, despite my calls and even pointing out that they need to fix this.

At last, a third or fourth rep tells me to see if I can find the part locally and they will reimburse me any charge greater than what I paid. Try, but cannot do. Finally, another phone call, another rep, finds the part at a warehouse in AL and has it shipped overnight. First ordered Oct. 26; delivered Dec. 8.

The good news was that the company reduced the cost and gave it to me at their cost (about a hundred less), and added a $40 towel bar when I requested they do so. It always pays to ask. I'm sorry I have to report this screw up, because actually talking to the reps was soothing, even if they could not find the part. So when you order, make them check that the part is truly in stock.

I ordered some product from this site and paid for 3-5 day shipping, I then received an email stating that my products wouldn't even ship out for over a month. If that wasnt enough when I finally got my product it was all wrong! I called them and all the said was that sorry their web page was wrong!

I ordered a two piece bathroom suite from Build.com. I knew there was a problem was when the tracking number did not 'track' and I had to call the freight company for more information... only to discover that the tracking info did not match my order or shipping address. Sure enough, when the delivery was came, it was completely different items than what I ordered. I called Build.com and they re-shipped the 'correct' items. The second delivery arrived and it was wrong again. When I called customer service, they blamed the distribution center of the manufacturer. They took no responsibility. Three weeks later, still waiting for the third delivery. Three times a charm? Don't use this company. They pass the buck.

Left messages. The product was not as described, instructions were not correct. Looks like the sale agent are all comm based. Before order they will pick up and talk to you nicely and after placing order they vanish
