The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

Absolutely disgusting unprofessional…
Absolutely disgusting unprofessional company, leaving two people one being disabled without somewhere to stay. Property was dirty, sewage gushing out, door to building had been vandalised would not lock or close, large industrial bins outside with rats running over them and three flights of stairs I could not get my partner up. Customer care told me I should ask people passing by to help carry my partner up the stairs how degrading, explained we could not afford another accommodation and had travelled 6 hrs they said there was nothing they could do, none of us could get hold of the homemaker after trying around 40 times and customer care were useless absolutely devastated and distressed by the whole experience and situation we had to drive home and had no holiday or celebration of my partners birthday very upsetting, they made no reasonable adjustments for disabled person and did not care so not use ever.
Booked a vacation package thinking it was in CAD dollars (top of booking.com screen shows "CDN" with a Canadian flag, turns out its in USD. I call in and am told to cancel so I cancel online; call back and am ENSURED I will be issued a full CDN refund. Was on the phone with this lady for a good 20 minutes explaining to her that I need a Canadian refund. Check my visa statement this morning to find out they refunded in USD so I called in and spoke with a senior agent, Arnel. He rambled non-stop and I couldn't make sense out of what he was saying, I asked him to slow down and he was rude, foul and rather than being empathetic towards the situation he continued to cut me off and not let me speak and said to email in screenshots of my credit card statement to *******@email.priceline.com. Hung up on me without saying bye - I've never had such $#*!ty service!
Have booked apartment in Paris for 6 nights, paid 1000 euros + damage deposit 150 euros. The apartment turned up to be scammers, they never met us with keys, and didn't answer the phone. We called booking.com, they asked us to book another place and confirmed 1150 euros will be returned.
After we booked another place, booking.com backed off, covering the scammers. We never received the money back, although we could not even enter the apartment. Which makes me believe they work in the scam scheme together with properties that scam people, cover them.
Since booking.com allows scammers on their website and do nothing to protect clients from the scammers, anything paid on booking.com can be lost without possibility to stay in the booked place.
Below is the link to the apartment that scammed us:

I booked hotel in turkey and paid amount in advance through booking.com, when i arrived there, hotel owner refuse to give me room and when i complained on booking.com they said that hotel owner is not answering our mails and we cant do any thing and also cant refund your money, thats really sucks. I booked the room through booking.com and amount transfer to their name then how they are not responsible for that, dont trust on booking.com guys
I booked a King room with a sofa for my husband and I 30th wedding anniversary. The morning of our booking I saw 2 queens come up on Booking.com for a little less than I was going to pay for the king. Since my husband has a bad back and needs his own bed to sleep well, I was so excited to see the availability. I called and spoke with someone named Kim and told her what I saw online and wondered if I could change the booking. She put me on hold and came back saying that she was able to change it to 2 queen beds and asked if I could check my email for confirmation. When I checked my email I saw the room rate had gone up from $1180 to $1312 before tax. I was shocked! While on the phone with her I could see the rate of $1180. When I told her what happened, guess what? There was NOTHING SHE COULD DO! She blamed the hotel and said it was up to THEM to change it. I was so frustrated, upset and just baffled that this had happened. I was on the phone that morning from 7 am to 10 am crying and in total disbelief. What a way to spend the beginning of our 30th wedding anniversary. After explaining everything to the hotel in tears, they final gave me the 2 queen beds for the original rate of $1180 I had booked. That being said I WILL NEVER GO WITH BOOKING.COM again and advice anyone thinking of doing it to think again. This is a nightmare I will never forget.
Was charged late fee of $160.00 for cancelling booking, when I cancelled 12 days early. When I spoke to the girl on the phone she assured me it would be taken care of.
I would have given a zero rating but it won't allow that. We booked 6 months in advance. Received confirmation reminder 3 days before travel. Travelled as a family of 4 with dog in traffic for 6 hours to the 2 bedroom coastal cottage in Hemsby to find it wasn't available. Apparently the owner had informed Booking.com in March that it was no longer available. Booking.com were useless even though the customer service advisor admitted it was their fault. Told us to look for alternative accommodation at 5pm in peak season and they would refund us up to £25 if it was more expensive. Obviously there was nothing in the resort or close by, they did find a hotel in Norwich city or a caravan in Lowestoft. Not quite what we had planned so obviously they were rejected. Appalled by the lack of customer care. If I were you I'd go staight to the owner of the property if possible.
I have used booking.com before for places to stay at and never had any issues. I booked my flight with them first time and it's the worst experIence ever. Once I reached at the airport I was informed we cannot get on the flight because my wife was required visa for a transit (nowhere on the ticket was stated that there is a self transfer). I got on the phone with them to try and rebook and I they hung up on me twice. We missed our flight and I had to rebook myself. Called them again and was told ticket is now not refundable because it's too late even though they hung up on me twice. I asked to speak to a manager and the customer service representative Vikash told me that no one was available. This is not how you treat customers, it's your mistake not stating on the ticket their is a self transfer and you should admit it and fix it. Customer reference number: 40-*******
Booking.com emulates the hotels' booking sites, so when you're booking, you think it's through the hotel, but it's actually through them. BE CAREFUL.
I was refunded money from a hotel over 3 weeks ago. I called booking.com the day after the refund was processed and they verified it was there. I was told it would be refunded. Nothing.
I sent an email with the confirmation and pin to ask where my refund was. I got a reply back asking for my confirmation and pin.
I called again, and mind you each call has a wait of 20 minutes or more. I was told by the agent that she would check into it and the refund would be processed. I told her I was not hanging up until it was.
There's no sense of urgency and if I didn't press for my refund, I'm sure I'd never get it. At this point in time, I still haven't. Stay tuned. Still on my 45+ minute call.
My reward was paid in RUB by booking.com. Shame on your company who doesn't know where is Lithuania! Take your $#*!ty reward back! My country is not russia and our currency is EUR not RUB.
Hotel, car hire, severe weather event, hotel advised to cancel. Booking. Com just gives you the run around when trying to get a refund. No one wants to take responsibility and sort out a refund or credit. We had to cancel through no fault of our own. Would not use again
Get English speaking reps! Lost our room last night for my daughter's 40th birthday so embarrassed! Rep booked us in another town now they won't refund my money. It was totally all their fault! Would never book through them again and neither should you!
Currently stranded in Niagara Falls with no room and no support thanks to booking.com. Hope you don't actually need a room because if they mess things up they drop you flat, in a strange city/country and you get to sleep in your car. Thanks booking.com for NOTHING
The pictures on their website do not reflect what you actually get at the hotels. We booked an executive VIP room at Rodos Palace after a long delayed flight got our room nothing like what we thought we paid for other guests in lobby complaining about the same issue. Called Booking.com
To complain they said it was the hotels fault and basically the rude barley English speaking staff washed their hands if the situation, I paid £300 to upgrade the room to one we thought we were getting so save your money and go elsewhere or book direct
I booked 2 months in advance in Verona Italy and come to see they changed my hotel without permission. I am traveling from the US won't be there till sept 22. I made my reservation in old town and they put us away 3 miles. Being handicap not easy to get around. I had originally got a hotel with cancellation and breakfast and this new hotel nothing. So we're stuck there. So beware of booking. Com.
Booked two rooms at a basic hotel that didn't take reservations over the phone. Made to use online booking. Got to hotel and it was literally scariest place I've ever been. Was told by people in parking lot that it was under investigation for drug dealing. The hotel had also just had a recent shooting. We left without receiving a refund. Called booking.com customer service lady was nice but put me on hold to call the property manager. I waited on hold forever then the phone just disconnected. The hotel was not a safe place to be at let alone sleep there. But the property had already been paid so they didn't care we left. Still waiting on my refund. Would not recommend using this online booking agency that offers reservations for such a shady place.
I booked a room with Booking.com in a motel in Denver and got a dirty room that smelled of cigarettes. I left and booked another hotel.
The receptionist apologized and said I should get a refund from booking.com
Customer service at Booking.com was useless and I never got my money back.
I will never use booking.com again
I booked a trip with friends, we were planing to go to Europe, couple places, we already booked but then unfortunately we cancel the trip. Refund was very easy, funds were back on our credit card, it was very suprising to me :)
I was charged for a hotel room 4 days before arriving at my hotel, and then for the entire 6 days stay. I've never heard of such a practice. Usually you make a deposit, then pay at the end. Furthermore there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE phone number on any of my emails from Booking.com, nor on their website. I finally found a number on Google and the person answering my call was in EGYPT. It was not easy to understand him. He stated that I would not be charged until I checking in and if for some reason I had to shorten my stay it was up to the hotel to reimburse me although I would have to contact booking.com. Nothing is. In writing. I will NEVER use bookin.com because I do not trust this service!
Do not use this company, they will not be there for you if there is an issue with the reservations, don't even think about getting your money back!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
