The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

When I was in Korea. I booked for my son for stay 4 days in Seoul. On the next day after booking, my son notified me he cannot visit Korea. I called booking.com and asked for cancellation. I got the notification from booking.com that the booking was cancelled and no refund because the cancellation charge is same as refund amount. I have photocopy of cancellation notice for the booking. I want people be careful in booking through booking.com. If you want booking, call the hotel directly and you are safe. Thanks
I booked a room in atlanta on july 9. The property owner was not there to let me check in (5-6pm). I called and she hung up. I called customer service with booking.com and they could not get in touch with property. I had to book an alternative place to stay. I requested being refunded for the booking.com property. It took support 1 month and 10 days to finally get in touch with the property. I supplied bank/card statements, my receipt from the other place I had to book because I couldn't get into their property, and I spent hours on email and phone calls. It would be apparent to anyone that this was not a legitimate property. But the property said I stayed there (they did not have to produce any evidence such as a copy of my card for incidentals or my drivers license or even a phone call report showing they tried to call me back). They produced nothing and weren't even reachable and booking.com will not refund the over 400 dollars that was taken from me fraudulently. I will never use their service again and people booking through them should be aware of their very shady business practices. They are ignorant at best, 100% negligent or part of the fraudulent activity at worst.
Avoid booking.com by all means. I missed my flight due to a taxi driver's strike in Milan. I ended up canceling my trip to Berlin, therefore, the week-long hotel reservation with Lime Home. Most hotel charges one night as a cancellation fee but refunds the rest of the nights. Lime home refused to communicate with me after I sent the cancellation notice. They pretended the reservation was still valid. How do I know they are not double charging for the room? Booking.com rejected my review, which reflects the fact. Before this happened, I had made several reservations thru booking.com on the same trip. So... avoid booking by all means. They won't be the advocate for you even though you spend a lot of money there.
On June 16,2022, I used Booking.com to reserve the Novotel Paris Gare de Montpareese in Paris. When I got to the Hotel, the receptionist asked me for my credit card, saying the charge hadn't gone through. I didn't know any better and being a college aged female in an unfamiliar country, I handed them my credit card. After my stay was complete, I noticed the Hotel AND Booking.com had both charged me. I was charged twice for the same stay! Making my two-night stay cost $1,230 instead of $608.
The Booking.com charge went through PayPal on one of my credit cards. And the Hotel charged a second credit card. Unfortunately, I handed the hotel a different card than what was connected to my PayPal account.
I called Booking.com, but when I explained that I had been charged twice and wanted a refund, they hung up on me. I then tried contacting the Hotel, but they have ignored my emails and won't return my calls.
I disputed the charge through PayPal, but they denied my claim, saying it's too difficult to prove. Booking.com and the Hotel both charged slightly different amounts so it's not obvious that I've been double charged. I've disputed the charge through my Bank and I'm waiting to hear back from them. However, since neither Booking.com nor Novotel Paris is willing to resolve this issue, I've decided to post this review as a warning to other customers of their shady business practices. Do not use Booking.com!
Canceled our hotel room within the window to do so. Hotel canceled the reservation and did not charge me. Unfortunately, the jack asses at Booking.com still charged my card. Impossible to get in touch with someone. When I finally did, they told me that they were having trouble contacting the hotel. They needed something from them in writing. After 1 phone call, I was able to get written confirmation that the reservation was canceled with no charges. Sent the email to this awful company, and a week later, the charge isn't gone. NEVER USE THIS SITE
Dolphin inn hotel in VA Beach- still won't refund my money. Ibwas offered 25 euros for my "inconvenience". I've been waiting weeks to get my money back. All they keep saying is that they can't do anything because the hotel won't contact them back. - blood stained sheets, curtains, shades, water standing in the hallways, doors to the bedroom kicked in, tvs did not work for 3 days( finally gave up), vent falling out of the ceiling, MOLD EVERWHERE!, missing cabinet doors... I can keep going on and bookings told me- (I'll give you 25 euros for your "inconvenience".
If zero stars were available I'd give it.
I booked an anniversary trip for my partner and I. I was provided a final price for the room that included taxes. There was a mistake apparently and I was charged an extra $304.20 to my credit card that I did not agree to. Booking.com has now determined I should be on the hook for the extra money (the taxes that were supposed to be excluded). Customer service was less than helpful. They see the mistake but won't honour the price they quoted me. To the credit of the Hotel (Stonridge Mountain Resort in Canmore, Alberta) they did credit me and to apologize for the mistake have invited me to stay again at a later date booking straight through them at a good rate. This Hotel deserves kudos for fixing something they did not mess up to ensure it didn't sour our experience towards them.
Beautiful apartment based on the pictures. Super excited to stay in this lovely place 5 minutes from our port. Too bad there was a long term renter LIVING in the unit when we arrived!
I booked this apartment in June. Spoke with "the owner" Brad on a few occasions leading up to our arrival in August. Showed up with my two little girls only to be greeted by the actual owner of the property to inform us we'd been scammed and we were the third family to show up for this unit just that week. She had a long term renter in the unit we reserved and had no affiliation with Brad (the scam artist supposed owner) or Booking.com. She informed us that in working with the authorities Brad has done this with several other units around the city. He steals images of dwellings on line and creates accounts with travel sites to scam people. I thought that only happened on Craigs List. She said every time it happened she would inform Booking.com but they have yet to remove/ban Brad from using the site. In other words, they are not vetting their partners to make sure they are ligitimate. Isn't that why we use sites like these in the first place? Great! New city, with two children, unfamiliar with the area, with all of our luggage stuck outside in the pouring rain with nowhere to go. NOT OKAY! Booking.com eventually found us another hotel far removed from where I wanted to be but will not refund our stay.

I have used Booking.com for years…a genius level 3 customer according to them. That level didn't get me any support when the room that I booked was occupied and the man inside assaulted me and threatened to kill me. I called Booking.com and they offered zero support. At a minimum, I hoped that they would have a policy to put my family in a safe place in situations like mine.
I don't hold Booking.com responsible for the mismanagement of the property or the unhinged, dangerous occupant. But, when a loyal customer of 11 years fears for their safety, I hoped for a more compassionate response. If Booking.com had given me the support that I requested, I wouldn't have needed police protection, after the same man followed and threatened me and my children two more times. I'm sad to say that I will never feel safe using this platform again.
If i could give them -10, i would! Worst customer service they charge you even if you select hotel with free cancellation and if you cancel, you will loose money due to the exchange rate! I would never make any reservation with them.
Airline canceled flight, tried to contact booking was told they are looking into it. Over two weeks later and still no response nor have they given my money back! This company is terrible and will scam you! Beware, you will never get your money back if your trip is canceled or has an issue.
I stayed at Warwick hotel which I booked through booking. Com the service was bad and we left a day early due to service. I asked for my money back n never refunded. Do not book through these people.
I recently (August 2022) booked a room using Booking.com for a room at a hotel in CA for 8 days. Booking.com added "fees" to the charge increasing the cost from $2,500 to $2,900. I know this because their billing outlined the "fees" and because I needed to reserve a second room for another guest for the same hotel and stay but booked directly with the hotel. I don't know why the FTC and other groups are not investigating Booking.com. But in the mean time I'd say more appropriate name for this company is "stinking_thieves.com"
If you want to be cancelled on last minute and have your money held for no reason, book here. Customer service reps work from home, baby crying in the background, rep tells you to search yourself online after having your reservation canceled the week of your vacation. Absolute disgusting service. Spare your time and money.
I booked a motel with these guys. The site says free cancellation but when I got to the motel, there were some serious sketchy people next door, the room was disgusting so I cancelled with the front desk then called booking.com. I waited with my kids in the parking lot of sketchy motel for over an hour then the lady said cancellation fee was $88. I told her that was nearly the price of the room. She said "no it isn't. The price of the room is $94. Are you kidding me. $6 bucks less. The manager of the motel told her to waive all fees. I still haven't received my money back. I will NEVER use this site again.
I am following up an earlier poor review of this facility and the Property Manager Vacasa. Their desk rep leaves at 9:45 and a dog in the room (204) above us was barking incessantly. At 11 PM, I went to the front desk to find another way to get help. They provided an after hours number which I called and left a message. No response at all and I left a note on the Hotel Door of the irresponsible owner. I registered my displeasure with Booking.com and am committed to never dealing with Vacasa again. They do not empower their employees to make responsible decisions to keep customers happy. The previous night, there were 5 other rooms that would have satisfied us but the employee at Vacasa did not have the authority to authorize a change. She stated her Supervisor would call within one hour. He never did and we retained our dark basement room.
This company is an absolute joke. Worst customer service and they steal your money. No help, no refund no accommodation. Disgusting company!
This company is a an absolute disgrace! If you book a privately listed property, such as a holiday villa, you have no rights and no recourse if the listing is not as described. Booking.com apparently let's anyone list anything for free (?!) and then washes their hands of it completely if it's all a lie. To add insult to injury the legal information on the listing states:
"Hosts who have registered with Booking.com as a private host are parties that rent out their property or properties for purposes which are outside their trade, business, or profession. They are not officially traders (like a global hotel chain) and therefore may not fall under the same consumer protection rules under EU law, BUT DON'T WORRY, Booking.com provides you with the same customer service as we do with any stay. This doesn't mean that your stay or experience will be any different than booking with a professional host."
Absolute twaddle! I have used Booking.com loyally for years, but NEVER again!
I booked an apartment for a whole week. I have paid for the whole week but the price adjusted by £10 when I updated my card details. So within staying after 2 nights, the booking was automatically terminated as I have a balance of £10 which was very easily paid if I was informed.
So the owners then had the right to kick me out of the apartment. (because they chose to be bad people, that's 5 more nights paid without a tenant that they can still rent)
I was kicked out in a very rude and pressurised manner. Very early in the morning, giving me 15 mins to pack my bags. Racist and rude.
So I then asked for refund but the owner refused to refund me. Even booking.com who I was blaming of this matter refused to refund me too.
I called a lot of times to chase this case but I was unsuccessful. So I just decided to cancel all my bookings with booking. Com and avoid to use this site.
This site does not care about their customers. They only care about the commission they will get.
Tips to everybody, Avoid using booking.
We planned a family trip to Healdsburg CA and after comparing hotel options and prices, we selected the one presented as a fair nightly rate and offering breakfast and an outdoor pool. Well, the rate was for only 1 of the 4 nights we reserved. The rates were DOUBLE than the expected rate for the Fri/Sat nights, and 40% more for the Thursday night. Our bill was over 2K MORE than we had expected-- and even worse is that if we would have booked directly with the hotel, we would have saved at least $1500, after contacting both Booking.com and the hotel, there was no offer for any type of refund adjustment. Sorely disappointed in business ethics here... avoid them!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
