The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

We checked into our rental in NZ (22 days) and it was absolutely filthy: spills all over the fridge, including dripping down the inside of the door, cobwebs and bugs in every corner, feces and urine on the toilet and rim/seat, hair in the out of order bathtub, stains on the sheets and pillows including 1 that looked like blood, and non cleaned carpets/table surfaces. We contacted management and they came 6 hours after check in to "clean" where we watched her clean the inside of the toilet with a rag and then move to the inside of the fridge with the SAME RAG. We were absolutely disgusted so we called booking and they gave their little so sorry blah blah blah speil and said they'd give us $40 as compensation. We went to go buy our own sheets and cleaning supplies so we could clean and stay but when we got back that evening there were multiple cockroaches on the walls and bed sheets. We left immediately and booking only says the management won't refund our money so we are out $3,000 and had to shell out over $3,000 for a hotel room for the entirety of our trip. When the "reception" for management called us he laughed at us and said the rental was "cheap" - so we should expect it to be filthy?! The management also was doing their laundry in the space we rented while I was alone - I was quite scared being in a different country so I went to my room and locked it while she was using the laundry. Disgusting people and behaviour and no customer service at all from
Booking. Clearly they think cockroaches are acceptable in their listed accommodations so I HIGHLY recommend NEVER USING BOOKING.COM. The video I try to post makes it to 9% and then freezes but I have every aspect on video as proof.
I would not give even a 1-star rating. It is a complete fraud company. Be on the lookout, and be very careful when contacting their representatives. I needed to cancel the reservation. I reached their number on the website. The person on the other side claimed that I needed to purchase a $200 booking gift card to make a cancellation. That was their policy, they stated. The name of the person was John James McDermott. He said that if I bought the card, the money would be, in the end, returned to me. They had my booking information fully available, and as I purchased the needed card, they processed and canceled my reservation. Therefore, that was the booking representative. The security team over there needs to protect your data correctly. When I contacted them, they were not helpful and refused to refund me. I will no longer be working with them on booking hotels. However, I was a faithful 'genius' customer for many years. Be careful you talk to their representatives!
Having made a booking and made payment Booking.com cancelled as they couldn't secure the booking. Obtaining a refund was difficult and frustrating. Making contact was impossible, my emails and on-line messages were ignored and met with irrelevant automated responses (see image) that just kept repeating no matter how much information I gave.
Booking.com try their best to frustrate you until you give up. The issue is still un-resolved. I will never use them again and would warn anyone against using them. Just book direct. Much easier and same price.
Won't use booking.com again, will book direct with motel or use another site. I like to deal with honesty!
I booked one night at $99.00 Canadian and was over charged well over $200. When I contacted Joyce C, owner of chicromantic3bed patio wifi and parking listing, Joyce C cancelled my booking and told me to contact booking.com for a full refund. When I spe to Tristan at booking.com, he told me to contact Joyce C. At this point Joyce C's phone number was disconnected and Tristan kept telling me to contact Joyce C. When I asked to speak to a manager, Tristan refused to transfer the call. I'm still waiting for a refund.
After arriving to our reserved whole apartment rental on 12/18 around 5pm for our family reunion of 6, we found out that the place was still occupied. Owner of rental and Booking.con blames to each other about my issue. Booking did little or nothing to help, we spent 2-3 hours with reps because their calls keeps dropping and we ended up talking to 8 reps total and decided to cancel reservation. We resolved that getting that night an emergency hotel night because but the time that we realize that booking agents will not help was to late to get a Airbnb for that night, but we get an Airbnb for the rest of our stay, cheaper, bigger and nicer.
Tried to get the low price guarantee. Responses were so slow and to prevent me from proving the price. It was from their own site so they would be able to prove the lower price. They said since I reserved for 3 people and sent the price for 2 they would not honor a price from booking.com. They did not respond for over 48 hours until it was too late for me to prove the price. I have cancelled and removed all information from their site. No one should use this site.
After entering wrong email in booking an accomodation there is almost no way to cancel booking. Customer service did not respond 5 days by mail or phone and did not solve problem even after contacting me. This is shamefull for such a ww service.
Booking.com are a sham of a company that do not support their customers who have back experiences with their bookings but side with the hotelier who provide inadequate facilities. Booking.com treated us vety poorly when the hotel room we booked was far too disgusting to stay in and had to leave after 20 minutes of our 3 night booking. They couldn't care as long as they got tjeir money. Look at alternative companies in the future and advise others to do the same
They have taken my money from my card but not sent the confirmation.
Cannot contact customer service without it and without pin.
This is how they make money, stealing from customers
I reserved a room and than noticed that they had the wrong date I tried to cancel and reduce it but it said I might still be charged for the original order so I called the rep told me she fixed my booking but charged me double the rate and I later found out they charged me for the fixed order and the original mistake that the rep had "fixed". They are common thieves always looking for someone else to scam. SMH they should be put out of business scum like that don't need to run a business. If I could I would give them a -5.
I tried to book 1 night at a local hotel, cost was 220 plus 41.00 fee and a 6.00 fee. I get fees, but when I went to check email it came to 426.00 with a 150.00 additional tax thru a company called getaroom.com. What tax is this? I called, tried to dispute, got amex involved, ultimately had to pay for a service I never used. Amex is fired too, canceled. The bait and switch of some random company is the worst part. NEVER EVER USE 3RD PARTY COMPANIES LIKE THIS, lesson learned
I made a booking for a hotel thru booking.com. They sent me a confirmation email for our booking. Less than 2 hours later they sent me a follow up email stating that they could not honor this reservation and that we would receive a full refund. I had to make a reservation at another hotel. Much later I saw that I never received a refund on the room that they said was cancelled. I have spent hours on the phone trying to get our money back unsuccessfully. I sent them a copy of the email they sent me showing cancellation but they refuse to give me a refund. They are rip off artists.
I tried to get a refund of my reservation I made with them and all they say is policy this and policy that. They will not try whatsoever to make things right for their customers. They stole from me $334. And will not even try and give me credit or some type of positive news. Don't ever use booking.com.
I have used this service as it has been easy - until I had a problem. Then I discovered there is absolutely no way to message, email nor call as an individual traveller client so no help whatsoever - the only options are for the property partners. This is SO unacceptable. I realized a mistake I had made immediately yet now I have NO way to change it.
Booking does not monitor which partners are posted on their website and what information they provide. I came across such an unscrupulous partner, a Hostwise in the city of Porto, who provided incorrect information about the apartment and the apartment was in a terrible state. I asked the host and the booking to cancel the booking and refund my money, but they both absolutely do not care. They both robbed me. Neither the booking nor the host wanted to take responsibility. And booking generally said that they can't do anything and they don't care that the information on the site is wrong, they just earn their money and don't care about people.
Booked a car hire at £59, pending confirmation and 3 days later payment didnt clear due to no fault my end. Rang booking.com and explained i need to pay for my booking and was told i have to now pay £69. I explained i already had the booking and asked for a manager for further assistance and she laughed and me and hung up. Went on chat and was confirmed i will pay the right price and ring again. I did and payment went through but then charged me £66 without informing me after explaining it all. Cancelled the car hire and will go elsewhere. Disgusting Customer services on chat. French speaking...
We "made" a reservation for our stay in Wisconsin this last fall. Upon arrival we found the hotel never received confirmation of our booking made with booking.com. The hotel worked hard to confirm our stay, but we're unable to confirm. I finally used the phone number on the booking.com website to call the customer service of booking.com. After getting a representative who was obviously in a foreign country, an argument ensued about our reservation and I was told the booking was confirmed. I turned the phone over to the manger of the hotel who told them that a confirmation was never made for our room. The representative after arguing for 15 minutes on the phone finally agreed to refund our payment. The hotel manager promised to give us our room at a discounted rate as shown on our booking.com reservation. I hung up the phone and almost immediately notified by my cell phone company of international long distance charges were being charged to my phone bill. I was furious! They do not tell you that their customer service number is overseas! The hotel was amazing and very accommodating. I wrote booking.com about the phone charges and was told to send them the charges to them and they would reimburse me for the cost of the call. When the charges showed up on my phone bill, I forwarded them to booking.com customer service. They have never responded and not refund was ever received and it's been 3 months since our stay in Wisconsin. This is not a company that operates honestly or with honest business practices. Do not book through them unless you have confirmed with your hotel that the confirmation for your stay has been received by them!
Have booked many times without trouble. Flight changed and no refund was issued. Flight they offered was double the duration and double the stops. We booked an 8 hour flight but offered a 23 hour flight
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
