The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

My family accidentally booked at the wrong location and requested a cancellation within minutes of the reservation being made. Booking asked that I call the property to see if could cancel, they were wonderful and canceled the reservation. They provided a cancellation confirmation number and everything. Booking will NOT refund my money. They're awful. Worst customer service.
I use Booking.com a lot the Hampton INN in Fort Wayne on Challenger PKWY filthy smells of old water customer service was awful wanted to transfer to another Hotel through Booking.Com was told I couldn't without being charged explained I don't stay at Hotels like this furniture dirty Hotel dark suspicious people roaming Had to pay again at another Hotel I found on my own delayed my event never again!
The worst experience I've ever had with customer service and dishonesty. I will tell all family & friends about this experience.
DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING VIA BOOKING.COM!
As everyone else has pointed out too.
If there was 5 poop ranking that's what Booking.com and its partner GoToGate.com would get from me.
For a couple of dollars potential savings you will be put into a blackhole loop that you won't be able to get out.
It turned out they don't book the flight for you, they book the flight with some random info and pretend it's you. Email address or Mobile number on ticket won't be yours and hence you won' the able to manage your booking online or offline yourself.
In my case, their confirmed ticket clearly says contact us for any changes, contacting them 5 times and kept telling me to Airline and then Airline says I need to go to Booking.com! It is worse in case of low cost airlines because they will charge you about $15-20 transaction fee if you need to change or cancel your flight. I ended up forgoing the $150 ticket cost just to keep my sanity and booked my flight again (this time at $200) directly with the airline.
Even when I called to cancel the flight that I don't want to get on anymore (just trying to do the right thing) they asked me to call the airline as they are unable to even cancel the flight! So why the hell I paid you for booking? My dog's poop would do a better job in being a middle man than Booking.com
Me,my sister and my niece booked a bedroom in Extended Stay America hotel in Secaucus N.J. Through booking.com for two days and was emailed a confirmation number. When we arrived to the hotel after driving four hours, we were told our bedroom was over booked after paying $310. So, then we had to book another bedroom in another hotel and pay $400 when we arrived at the other hotel. This is very bad business.
I booked a room Oct 2022 for a one night stay in April 2023. In March 2023 I received email and notification that my reservation had been canceled by the hotel with no explanation. I tried calling hotel several times no answer, I sent emails, and messages through the app with no response. I finally called Booking.com to ask why my reservation had been canceled that I booked 5 months before. I was told by an agent that the hotel in question is no longer doing business with Booking.com and canceled anyone who booked through them. I then told them I needed my money back to book another room. After a 45 minute fight they said they spoke to their supervisor and I would receive an email shortly. I received email which stated I would receive refund in 5 days. I let 2 weeks go by and called back for another 45 minute phone, as I still did not receive refund. They told me I need bank proof and receipt that I paid plus a notification that I couldn't dispute through my bank( they allow 60 days only for dispute). I previously provided all this to them. I was then told I could book another room for a discount that they recommended, so I did. I arrived at the recommended hotel, it was practically falling down. The building was so old paint was chipping, a single microwave was located in the lobby just sitting on a chair, the gentleman who checked my husband and I in was rude and unfriendly and we were forced to pay another $100 at check in. The room was dirty with missing tiles, faucets falling off. My vacation has come and gone and I am still waiting for my refund from the first cancelation. I will never use Booking.com again.
Booked a 1400sqft suite at grove resort well in advance only to find it had been canceled, Arrived after a 2-hour drive only to find out the resort had no record of the booking. Was informed by the resort that Booking over booked. Booking customer service was unsympathetic about the whole thing and we were basically out of luck. Had to scramble to find a last-minute lodging. Paid almost as much for a 250sqft room. As would have paid for what we booked through booking.com. NEVER again will I use booking.com. And will pass along the word of the terrible experience. Don't have proof of purchase as was canceled.
I bought tickets for my sister and myself on Mon, May 9,2022, at 1:45 AM.
1)I paid $ 6,943.93 with my bank credit card.
Asiana Airline tickets (from Seattle to Seoul, Korea)
Korean Airline ticket (from Seoul, Korea, to Seattle
2) I canceled the tickets on Mon, May 9,2022, at 11:14 PM within 22 hours.
3) Sat, May 14,2022, at 8:58 PM, Booking.com emailed me that Korean Airlines has approved my refund. But they are waiting for Asiana Airlines to process their application
Since May 14,2022, Booking.com ( Go togate) has emailed me every month on the 14th, they are waiting for Asiana Airlines to process their request for my application. So I called Asiana Airlines (LA branch,Seoul Korea Head Quarter, Seattle Branch), but Asiana Airlines told me that I canceled the ticket within 24 hours, so my tickets never reached Asiana airline's desk. I realized that I couldn't fight Booking.com all by myself. So I contacted my bank
On August 01,2022.
And on 10/05/2022, my bank contacted me that Booking.com said: the tickets I bought were in a particular condition so Booking.com couldn't refund the whole amount.
If this is the case, why they never told me via email or phone during the five months?
All they told me was during the five months "Waiting for Asiana Airlines to process the application.
Update: Finally, I got a refund of $6943.93 after Washington State Attorney General's office contacted Booking.com within 3day. It took over seven months to get my money; I almost gave up to get my refund. But I reached my state Attorney General's office, and they did a fantastic job for me.
Booking.com, Priceline, kayak, etc. All are owned by the same company. We are sitting in the lobby going on 2hrs now. The booking company received our payment (which we confirmed w/online bank statement)but hotel received only 1 room payment. One party has a room, second party now does not-though both have been paid in full! No more booking through a second party for us! We have NO recourse! That's no way to do business.
They canceled our flight before our trip; then we asked for a refund, they said you need to deal with a 3rd party company (Gotogate). Then they said we return a very small amount...They seriously aged me. I'll NEVER use them.
Called and was quoted in America dollars! $145! That's $180 Canadian. Told her that's ridiculous and hung up her ridiculous price! She immediately called me back and said $143 Canadian is the best price! I hung up on you again knowing this is a scam. I called the motel directly and got a room for $98! Wow! What a difference! Scammers! Beware!
I arrived at the Savoy on the 28th March for a one night stay. Madiha who checked me in was absolutely fabulous, she was so welcoming and professional in her manner and knowledge which she explained in excellent English. My intention was to stay in Marrakech for one month in a airbb but after a week we decided that the high standard of the Savoy we would return on the 14th April for 14 nights. Cutting short our stay at the airbb. In conclusion l would just like to mention Madiha again just to say she is a credit to the hotel Savoy and lm certainly looking forward in meeting her again when l return on the 14th April.
Kind regards mr Keith Barnes
Booking.com has refused to help us get a refund from La creole in Guadeloupe when our flights were canceled an our trip ruined. They refused to help our travel agent and get our refund. They cannot be trusted to help customers with refunds any more. Beware! They work for the hotels, not the travelers.
Arrived at location at midnight only to learn host had not provided access code. Called Booking.com and finally spoke with someone who said we would be contacted within thirty minutes. Called back after not hearing from them and no live person available. We are now on our own looking for a place in a popular city at 1:00AM. We had to settle and pay for inferior accommodations to what we booked. After checking in I went to my account and it then said we would hear from them in three hours. Nothing was done and eight hours later an offer was made to us for a one star hotel with two beds for three adult people. Worst experience in fifty years of travel.
After booking a hotel for €136 at Ibis Budget in Antwerpen via booking.com the website changed my check in day at the hotel to a wrong date in the future. After consulting their Customer service i was told to contact the hotel to change the date back and for the refund. After contacting the hotel i was told that beceaus it was the foult of Booking.com they need to refund the money. So I contacted them again and i was told they couldnt help me beceaus the hotel received my payment. Conclusion never use booking.com beceaus if their website or software makes a mistake they will not refund you your payment.
When we arived to the board walk beach resourt we got in to our hotel room and when i got in there everyones bed was coverd in sand and then they dident even come in there in clean our room they just made the beds with sand still in the beds.
I never received my security deposit from a car rental booked via booking.com which just archived my complaint without conducting an investigation or trying to solve the issue. The rental car company Alamo is still available on Booking.com.
Booking.com are scamers. They just want your debit number then they got your money, you can't cancel
I booked a hotel called sonesta in Charlotte for 396 dollars for 2 night and they charged my card 2 more times for that amount so be careful cause if I didn't have enough money saved up I would of been stuck in Charlotte wondering how I was gonna get home cause I wouldn't of even had gas money. I would not recommend for anyone of a tight tight budget to book through them.
Unbelievable what happened to me a few days ago! I booked a room for 2 nights, their system had a lower rate for the second night by mistake, and in the end they forced me to accept the surcharge (despite of being their fault!) or cancel the reservation. SO DISAPPOINTING! A real shame
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
