My opinion, based on my experience (2 purchases which never arrived) - they send out books to selected customers, so that they get a few good reviews and stay afloat, but the majority of customers pay for books which they never receive.
Everyone seems to go through the same steps:
FIRST - they don't provide a tracking number - believe it or not! Even the cheapest Chinese suppliers on ebay provide tracking numbers.
SECOND - their customer service tells you to "look for your delivery at your local post office". What?
THIRD - After that they refuse to reply.
Don't know what country they operate from, but these guys should not be allowed to operate this scam - seems that have been at it for years!.
I ordered Dear Self on 7 August 2021 and I have still not received my item.
I have emailed the company only to get the same answer - it has been dispatched and I must check with my neighbours and post office.
If you cannot hold to your worldwide delivery in your stated times, then do not sell to other countries.
I have asked for a refund and still await my refund - as usual quick to take money but not quick to refund or find out more information.
I ordered a book in December 2022 and received a notification to say it had been shipped (virtually immediately) and that the book would arrive on or before Sunday 8 Jan. Today is Saturday 7 Jan and nothing. There is no post on Sunday! I contacted them for a refund and was told the book is nearly ready to be shipped so they can't refund! They also had the nerve to extend / create a brand new arrival date of 25 January! These people are operating on the basis of lies and half-truths. It amounts to fraud. They operate out of Abebooks, and Amazon, the former a site which has gone down the drain over the last couple of years. Amazon has a customer-centric policy which Abebooks presumably abides by but not Bookdepository which cares not in the slightest about its customers, only about itself. When a company does this it is a sure sign that it is on a downward spiral to bankruptcy. Hopefully this company of liars and deception-mongers will fall, because it has forgotten the cardinal business rule namely, that it exists to serve customers not the other way round. I wrote back and told them I wanted my refund and that I would file a complaint to Abebooks and Amazon, because this is not acceptable practise. It seems that honest booksellers are somewhat sparse these days. Whereas sharks like Bookdepository are everywhere. To my book reading and loving friends, beware the scam that is Bookdepository!

I ordered back in April and after 2 and a half months of waiting they decided to cancel my order even though I never asked for it. (the estimated delivery was supposed to happen 2 months ago) They said that they cant get the items, than I checked their site and ALL of my stuff were in stock ready to ship within 4 business days. The problem is that their prices became almost double.
I wrote them 8 massages so far for compensation but they just sent back almost the same letter every time, they didn't really want to help. If you want good for yourself never order from them.
I purchased a book in December. It was supposed to arrive at the time for christmas (as the site claimed). It didn't but I still waited. Finally, when, after two months my order still haven't arrived, I decided to contact book depository, demanding refund from them. They responded to me via e-mail, that the order has been shipped and my country's postal services must have lost it. Yet they refused to give me package's number, so I could track it. When I told them, that I cannot track my package without it, they said that I must have given them wrong address and that's why my order never arrived. Eventually, when they run out of lies to tell, they gave me my money back
I ordered few books on this site from their bargain section. As they have free shipping, I decided to give it a try. The problem was the slow shipping, I waited a month until I received my books. Apart from that, the books were great and they included two free bookmarks. So if you're planning to make a purchase there, be ready to wait at least one month until you receive your order.
Fast shipping and it's free shipping international! Most of time they ship each book individually, I just don't understand how it could be free shipping... Been buying books for years from them. Always fast shipping, It's not instant but may take a few days to process but overall amazing prices and speedy shipping.
I have ordered a book and understand the delay in deliveries due to the pandemic but at least provide a tracking ID to know my order is sure on the way! Moreover, due to uncertainty, I requested to cancel the order and the team tells me that I cannot. They ask me to keep on checking with local post office if there is any order under my name! WOW! Please improve your system! If you cannot provide tracking number, how are even YOU sure that a customer's parcel is on the right track? I am extremely upset. I will never order again from here and would definitely ask people to check out other reliable stores. Thank you!
Long story short, I'd ordered some books. Eventually they came, but one of them had literally ruined pages making it impossible for me to fix it. Not to mention that they came two months after i'd placed my order.
Ordered books like a month ago and it was supposed to be shipped from the UK to Malaysia. How is it in this day and age that a parcel can be sent without a tracking number? Really? Post 9/11? Total scam site!
Ordered 11 books at the end of August.
Got 4 in total (that too with huge delays between them).
Been waiting for my 7 books for a long time. Until they decided to send me replacements.
But those too didn't arrive. Managed to get a refund in the end.
All in all, 14 books never reached me.
Avoid at all cost if shipping internationally.
Received a book with a different cover to what was advertised. This was very disappointing as I had specifically bought that book rather than a cheaper version in order to get a nicer cover. Contacted customer service but they asked me to pay for return postage. I complained but the company did not want to take any responsibility. I will not buy any books from this company again.
I ordered a book in mid June and it stated that it supposedly would arrive in 8-10 business days but I waited for a month still nothing so I emailed them asking for solutions. After confirming with my local post office that I got nothing pending under my name, they refunded me the full amount which I received 3 business days or so later.
Funny thing is a week after that my book finally arrived (took a month and a half, guess it's understandable under our current living situation), so I emailed them asking how to return the amount they refunded me. They told me to keep the book and the refund, a response I did not expect but much appreciated. So I'll definitely shop again!
I have ordered many books and always was happy with my order. Fast shipping to Poland. Reliable. It's sucha a shame that they are closing. Shame on Brits for Brexit. Will miss it.
Just got a delivery today from Book Depository. This is the fourth time I have ordered from them, and I have never had a problem.
I reside in Thailand and English titles can be limited. The main 2 book stores here (won't mention names) either never have what you are looking for, pre-orders can take over a month, or they never give discounts on books in English. I received this order almost 3 weeks to the day (UK-Thailand), keeping in mind that shipping may be slow due to Covid.
Customer service have always gotten back to my inquires within 24 hours or less, and have always been very professional.
My experience with this company is extremely disappointing! Please do not order any books from this company! On December 25th, the status of my order from 5 weeks ago showed "Shipment returned to shipper". When I contacted the customer service, the agent named Rachelle informed me that she would order a replacement copy which would be shipped in approximately 3 weeks. This would be satisfactory enough. However today, I received another email from them saying They're sorry to let me know they are unable to fulfill my order of the item, and have issued a refund. Very poor customer service! They are totally SCAM! I am also suspicious of their 5 star ratings on trustpilot.com as most of them appear to be fake.
Ordered a book one month ago. Still waiting. Got in touch with Customer service. They did absolutely nothing to resolve the situation, Wouldn't answer any of my questions they simply dodged them. All of this going on whilst still advertising the same book as available and ready to be dispatched.
Absolutely useless and terrible service, i personally will not be using the book depository service again it was that bad

I was very happy with my purchase from bookdepository.com, I'm in Australia so was expecting to wait ages for my products, but postage was relatively quick. I had shopped around before purchasing and found book depository to be a lot cheeper than other retailers.
In the name of free delivery, the book that I ordered never reached the designated address. Upon contacting, they asked me to contact the local post office without naming a single one (I wonder if they air drop to any random company? Won't the company have the ties with at least one post office company?). Apparently because its a free delivery they don't care about it and refused to give me a refund when I emailed them about the problem.
Never going to order from them. Not recommended at all.
Customer service the poorest I have ever seen. I can see why you have so many negative reviews. Too bad I didn't check the reviews first, but since I was going through Amazon, I thought it was OK.
I ordered a book and cancelled it immediately, within minutes, following all the steps. They completely ignored the cancellation. I sent many messages and told them not to send the book. Totally ignored all. They continued the process of sending the book. Received the book two to three weeks later. Amazon requested you to send a return postage label, which was completely ignored. This is wrong and I want my money back. I should not pay return postage because you were notified within minutes of the order to cancel. Should not even be a one rating..
Answer: Honestly, no idea, seems like their staff are very untrustworthy I had problems with them before I even ordered something, because they would keep changing what they told me about stock on a book, I wouldnt trust these liars with valuable information like your personal card (have ordered it in the end, but never arrived, they lied about the stock apparently and its gonna be a much longer wait, regretting buying it from here)

Answer: Honestly, no idea. I also have them but I fill them again (I don't put my credit card info because I don't want to, and the address it's just filled in because Google remembers it).
