I ordered a Cheers Burrows leather living room set in May 2022, I ended up in the VA Hospital. So when the call to deliver the set came in I was post operative. The agent said that she was returning the furniture to BJs. When I was released I attempted to get it delivered no-go. I called BJs and they said that it was returned. The item was off sale so I ordered another set (higher price) and I was told I would be refunded the 1st set. Now it is November and I have paid for both the sets and BJs said I should have returned the 1st set, I never received it!..

Worst experience ever since I've moved from New York to Georgia I've had nothing but the worst customer service in existence. I placed a pick up service so I can go and retrieve my order and one item out of my ten order item was delivered without my permission and I was charged a fee of fifteen dollars for that item, I called customer service five different times and placed on hold every time at Least eleven minutes for someone to answer the phone and keep saying hello over and over like they could not hear me the online service is a scam I called from four different phones a total of five times to no avail I WOULD LIKE MY REFUND...
WORST NIGHTMARE BJS ONLINE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Poor customer service
September 30, 2017

I purchased a BJs card, and the first day I used the card at the Hooksett NH store, I was very disappointed with the customer service. As we where checking out, another staff (older lady) came out of nowhere, harrazing the cashier, did you ring this, did you ring that she was making the poor boy very nervous, and this situation made us very uncomfortable. We spent $249, at this store, and if I could of return the membership card on the same day I purchased it, I would of. Will never shop at this store again.

Credit card scam
August 12, 2022

Ever since getting a BJ Mastercard it has been nothing but headaches, charged and broken promises. The card only worked on line. It didn't work in the store so credit for those purchases was never given as promised. BJ's lure of $0.10 off per gallon also never materializes unless you then physically go into the store to claim your few cents credit. Calling the credit card company for service is a joke. Besides having to wait a half an hour or more to reach a human, services charges were added to my bill in increasing amounts each month for various reasons. I have always paid my credit card bills on time. The first month immediately on the charges was a $2.00 service charge that was put on for an "unknown" reason. It was removed when I finally got through to a human. The second month showed a $30 late fee bill. I had used their "automated phone system" and it screwed up the numbers or some other error. Every time I call it would be apologies, that it was being worked in, they were switching companies on & on never being fixed despite their promises - just higher fees being tacked on and the card not working when being physically used. BJ just kept repeating how they have nothing to do with the credit card company; though they are aware of the problem and are "working on it". BJ accepts zero responsibility for the card they lure customers into using. BEWARE!

Pass on the BJ's membership
December 19, 2021

I belong to Costco, Sam's Club, and today joined BJ's because it's also local to where we live. We walked around the warehouse checking everything out to see what they carry. I'm so not impressed. To top it off, I tried purchasing some Dak Ham that was supposed to have an instant coupon that automatically comes off at the register. That didn't happen. They said I could wait while they walked back to where the ham was to check the signage. Really?! To top it off, the return policy is only 90 days (30 days for electronics) with a receipt for your money back. (Costco is 90 days for electronic items and indefinite for all other items) Even though BJ's has the purchasing record in their system, they will only issue a store credit without the paper receipt. I left the ham with the cashier and walked out with only 2 items. When we got home, we removed the "auto renewal" online. Can we get our money back on the membership since we don't like shopping here? When we got the membership, the clerk was trying to make it sound like they were better than Costco for many reasons. I can honestly say these 2 warehouse clubs aren't even in the same league. Costco all the way!

Location: 610 Exterior St. Bronx NY *******

This location is terribly run. Although 1/2 the staff are professional, the others are rude and unprofessional. There are often insufficient food carts, and customers are forced to follow other customers who have a cart and then beg for a cart!
Some of the food doesn't have the appropriate plastic bags that have the barcode. Dangerous boxes sometimes hang over the edge of storage, a disaster waiting to occur.
Needs new managers/bosses.
The music is inappropriate. The customers are 99% black, African, or Latino but no music that relates to that target market is played.
At checkout, in the cash register area, the device that pulls food often doesn't work, and workers have to come over and help (or customers, sometimes, have to walk to the food and push it down to the final resting place.
Carts are mostly not working and make noise (at wheel level) some even are difficult to push and we are forced to exert excessive energy to keep them rolling!
GET MORE HUMAN WORKERS and stop taking their jobs with ineffective machines and software. Also, get new bosses for that location and show some cultural sensitivity to your customer base!
PS: Thjs location often changes the location of food, week to week, with customers left scrambling around like an Easter egg search.
Please stop wasting cardboard boxes, plastics, etc. Global warming is an issue for the planet and BJs can help the planet by "going green energy/recycling"

Worst customer service
September 25, 2021

I ordered a 7 piece patio set online. It indicated there would be three boxes in the delivery, which we did receive. Upon opening them to put together we noticed two boxes were the same and I was missing the box with the two swivel chairs. I called and explained the issue. The warehouse then called to tell me they confused my order with someone else's order and we had each others chairs. They wanted to pick up the chairs I had. I then asked about my chairs and they said the customer who had mine was not returning their calls. I explained that I was not scheduling a pick up for my chairs until I knew I was getting the correct ones and that me getting my correct order should not be contingent upon another customer returning my order. After hours on the phone and speaking to numerous people from BJ's and the warehouse, and hearing a different story from every person I spoke to, and hearing multiple times I would receive a return call ( I never did), I finally had a drop off/pick up scheduled for 9/24. The delivery drivers called and said they would be here in 20 minutes. An hour and a half later nobody showed up. I called the warehouse. They then explained the truck broke down. Nobody called to tell me this and guess what, the problem is still not resolved after several more hours of my time on the phone. At this point I give up and I'm just keeping the chairs that were delivered with my order but I will NEVER order anything online that has to go through the warehouse again.

My credit got ruined
September 1, 2023

Bjs wholesale changed who their MasterCard goes through to Capital One with zero fore warning. Ill give the benefit of the doubt that they could have sent something in the mail, but I never got it (another package of mine USPS lost again). No warning via email, text or any other form; just a letter (that might not even exist) that I never received. The only reason I was made aware of the change was a delinquency letter sent by Capital One and a 200 point drop in my credit score. There needs to be redundant notice to customers that you're changing the entire way customer make payments, but they couldn't be bothered to do that. Thanks to BJs, I had to call off my search for my first home to buy after saving and building my credit for 6 years and wont be able to recover from this for 18-24 months when this delinquency is removed for my financial history. The only bright spot from this was the sympathetic clerk at the customer service desk when I cancelled my membership. Considering her reaction to my cancellation, I'm assuming a lot of other people are just as pissed and are leaving this sinking ship of a company.

I'm looking forward to hearing "Welcome to Costco" for the foreseeable future.

Zero Customer Service
April 25, 2022

I spent $2500 on a patio set and the table came broken, which isn't even the worst part. I have been trying for 4 weeks to get a new table, and I am unable to even get a response. Unanswered emails, and calls where I am told that the department that handles this is not responding. When I ask to speak to that dept directly, I am told that is not an option. And when I ask to speak to a supervisor, I was told by the man on the phone that he has no supervisor. (I asked him if he was the pres of BJs). I have a broken table and 8 chairs taking up my entire garage and literally cannot get them to pick it up and send me a new one. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM BJS ONLINE!

I just signed up as a member and visited your Millsboro DE location. All I can say is "what a mess this location is." Not only being outdated, but the check out process is the worst. You have only 2 cashiers who are in their senior years (which I am as well) who move slower than a snails pace. They have no assistance in carting the items and are so burnt out it looks like they are going to pass out. You allow people to redeem manufacturer coupons that it slows the check out process top a halt. The lady in front of me had 40 coupons. Myself and others were fuming. It took 20 minutes for her to check out. I now see why the regulars opted to self check out rather than wait for a cashier. However the self check out line was 3/4 down the length of the store. Now I see why. Also the prepared foods are about 1/3 less the content than Costco for the same price. Yes I have a Costco membership and now value it even more. There is a reason why Costco does more business and I think BJ's isn't keeping up with functionality, rather than just letting the store run until clients peel off. I wish I could get my $25 membership fee back as I rather spend it at a local store than come back.

Worth the money
September 15, 2017

When the price went up to $50, I stopped for a few years. But I went back when they had a promotion, and I'm glad I did. The prices are not always a lot cheaper, but the quality is very good.
