My 80 year old Mother-in-law bought a new TV from BestBuy, Melrose Park, Illinois. She asked what happens if there was something wrong with it and was told she could bring it back for an exchange within 15 days. When we set it up for her a week later found out that the screen was broken. Brought it back and they won't exchange it or give her her money back claiming she broke it because she didn't bring it back within 48 hours. Felt that Customer service was rude and condensending towards my Mother-in-law. Worse return policy ever! Never, ever, ever buy ANYTHING from Best Buy. They have just lost a frequent customer.
I should never have stepped foot in the store. I wanted to find out a bit more about what I was buying. The store wasn't busy at all (mid afternoon on a Monday), but NO ONE would wait on me! We finally got one minute of a computer guy's time and he was clueless about something as simple as an iPad sleeve. The check register woman was incredibly rude. I had my 89-year-old mother with me, as the purchase was for her. I'm sure she'll never go back.

I went to purchase headphones that let you watch tv without the tv volume on. We had a saleperson help us. We said we couldnt see the price, he said they were on sale for $80. Then we said we would buy them. He took them to the cash till. Then left. We the girl rang them in, I checked the bill and it said $100.00. I told her it was wrong. Then we had to have a discussion, because she said she has to charge the scanned code, I explained we were told by the sales guy, $80. He then came after 15 minutes of waiting, to say. He made a mistake! I said I didnt want them. Only then, they gave them to me for the price the worker in the store told us - $80.00. Felt sneaking and that customer service is not important.
I pressed a dish washer, refrigerator, cooktop, wall oven and pull out microwave. We bought the day after Thanksgiving. We new we would not want items until January. They had taken off Microwave know idea why. Never told us the cook top and wall oven would not be in until March. Now I have been with out stove sense December because I am redoing Kitchen. We could not wait that long. Changed the wall oven and Cooke top. Thought everything was done. Was told had to talk to same sales person because of price difference. Was told would take 2 weeks to get cooktop oven. My husband had to go back because that was unexceptible. Was told we would get the dish washer and refrigerator a week earlier. When the day came we did not get our order. Call and said 2 weeks later with the oven. Now my husband has to go back and talk to them. Very disappointed. With trying to get my order.
I have their Geek Squad program and you can call anytime of night or day and the guys who work on your computer are GREAT.
Whether in store or on line BB is always there to offer answers to any question or problem Also, if for any reason you decide to retun the item purchased within the alloted time you get an immediate refund ior assistance in selecting a stmilar product within the same price range ( NO BAIT AND SWITCH)
Very competitive prices, good selection of goods but very poor to non-existent post sales support. Attitude is "you bought it, now it's your problem. Talk to the manufacturer if it doesn't work as advertised." I don't patronize them anymore. Too many nasty experiences.
Only having truly shopped at Best Buy over the last 5 years I'm still amazed at how great the customer service and extended warranty plans are. My partner is on her 5th smartwatch/fitness tracker due to design flaws in previous models and I'm on my 3rd. While the store employees may not know the products specs 100%, the extended warranty and their return policy is worth buying to try with the peace of mind you can return hassle-free if needed.
I bought a laptop that was supposed to have MS Office installed, when it wasn't customer service quickly emailed me a key to get the download underway. Fixed in less than 1hr.
I bought my first smartwatch with the extended warranty, it didn't sync with my model of cell phone. Easily returned for my next gen, which lacked some features I wanted. Easily returned for my current smartwatch I'm very happy with. Never any issues!

Best Buy sells used items that they refurbish at huge savings and they come with all the warranties as s new product; without the new price tag. Pretty awesome place for families with multiple teens needing those iohones

Answer: All I can say is that you obviously have been very lucky. I was a dedicated customer for 25 years, however, I would do without before I ever spent another dime in a Best Buy!
Answer: I would write a letter to your state's attorney general. There are laws regarding taking advantage of senior citizens. I would specifically ask for documentation from Best Buy in which your grandmother gave them permission to recycle her 18 month old computer. If they cannot produce that document they may be in very big trouble with the state's attorney general. I would also write the BBB and contact your public officials. This I think would be paramount to theft if your grandmother did not give them permission to recycle her computer. On the flip side of things, ASUS is a very good machine. My son is a computer scientist and swears by ASUS. I have three ASUS machines one of which is over 5 years old and it is a workhorse. Unless something significant happens in the ASUS business world, I will continue to buy ASUS!
