My household has had 3 audible accounts for 13 plus years, all of us over 70 years old. We have always used MP3 players to listen to our books. This has worked very well for us non techie people. A while ago Audible told us Audible manager was going away... OK, so the app for windows 10, although a bit cumbersome for us old folks, we could use it because there was a user name option for signing in, so no big deal. (here I should say my household has only one Amazon account) Customer service said I should use the Audible Sync app... so I tried... downloaded a book, activated one of our sansa clip devices... but it didn't activate. Back to customer service... Oh, yes they said. Sync only supports 3 devices. WHAT? ( 2 the supported devices cost between $300.00 and $400.00).
I hadn't uninstalled Manager, so I kept using it while working my way up the chain. Last communication was basically we are screwed, no plan to add more devices to sync and they would be happy to pay for all of our outstanding credits if we wanted to quit the service. Oh, and by the way, the ability to download to manager will soon be going away,
I've come away from all this feeling like long term, older users are of no use to audible any longer. Even though we helped build the company. Because we don't use a smart device, just a good old fashioned MP3 players to keep title portable. I'm feeling very let down by audible.
They steal money, keep away from this app. Make sure to cancel your membership and watch for all emails.
Took 30 day free trial but decided not to take offer. But Audible started taking a monthly membership out of my account. Unable to cancel. Big problem was that Audible kept telling me I was not a member. After trying for ages decided to call Amazon as this is part of their company. They answered right away and told me I was a member but only in the USA not Canada. So I had somehow got a free trial from the USA with an Audible app from Canada on my tablet. Amazon passed me on to Audible USA that cancelled my subscription and gave me a full refund.
Problem solved.
My Audible subscription began when they did before Amazon bought them. I have hundreds of books in my library and as long as Amazon is in business I will be able to "keep" those books. I usually have had satisfactory experiences with customer service and billing.
The reason I may give up on Audible is that there are more and more glitches getting the latest books from really top, proven authors. They seem to be moving toward lots of included short / fluff offerings that I am not interested in. These are "included" in your subscription and you do not get to keep them.
If you like constant variety from unproven sources, this could be for you. I want books in my library to be those I love and want to listen to again.
Unless they go back to a more mainstream, litrary approach, I will figure out a way to use my credits (which you do not get to keep but must use before you cancel even though you have paid for them) and not renew when my subscription.
A good service if it fits your taste, but worth understanding the rules before you sign up.
I've never used audible, never logged in, never bought anything from them. I did the Amazon Prime free trial tho, and for some reason these guys charged my credit card $16.18. STAY AWAY
I ordered a book during my "free trial". After that, I discontinued my trial BEFORE the trial period ended. Since then 4-5 months later I keep getting charged every month on the 5th. I reached out to customer service and all i get is the run around. So, I suppose they don't care about their reputation as I would never refer anyone to take the "free trial". At this point I plan to make a complaint with the better business bureau if this is not resolved asap.
Audible is such a scam, I'm honestly shocked. They make it so that you buy "credits" that get you the book but you're not buying the actual book. Your monthly subscription of $15 goes toward 1 credit, or 1 book.
Once you start a membership you can only "pause it" for a few months. If you cancel it you lose everything you paid for, you can no longer access anything in your library. It's all gone. Audible is just one giant sinkhole for your money. Save yourself and go buy a real book or download an MP3 that you can keep forever.
WAS GOING TO CLOSE AMAZON (VARIOUS ISSUES!) BUT FIND THAT ALL MY AUDIBLE DOWNLOADS WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE TO ME! AS I HAVE PURCHASED AND PAID FOR AND ARE THEREFORE MY PROPERTY I CANNOT DOWNLOAD TO LISTEN TO ON OTHER FORMATS AS THEY ARE DRM PROTECTED AND IN AN UNUSUAL AUDIO FORMAT! BY REMOVING MY ACCESS THEY ARE EFFECTIVELY STEALING MY PROPERTY!
I wasn't happy with the fact thatthey kept spamming my email account with no straight forward way for me to unsubscribe. Follow that up with the fact that unsubscribing never kept them form spamming me. I then had to write to customer TWICE in order for them to get it right. Follow that up with the fact that I received my credit card statement and they had double billed the monthly fee, once in CAD and once in USD. Suffice it to say I can easily live without their bad service.
I get it, pay for the audiobooks, but don't I should not have to pay to use the audio book player app, Also I do not want to support the ceo of Amazon due to this persons greedy and narcissistic views of the world and other silicon valley types
Plz be aware, Audible is notorious in using your credit card/ payment details registered with amazon or directly to make unauthorised transactions. In contacting customer care they will promptly revert the payment if you are strong in voicing concern, and usually give you an excuse that the customers account is hacked. Do not fall for this decoy for illegal financial transaction.
I have had an author account with Audible.com for two years. In 2016 Sean Diddy Combs and Bobby Lorenzo, who is a model for Sean John, agreed in writing to let me use their names in hip hop scripts This is before I found out most of Hollywood is evil, and is now deprived of adrenochrome. July 4th, 2020 Sean Combs and his attorney contacted Barnes & Noble, Audible, Amazon KDP and Kobo Writing Life to tell them to cancel my author account including the books that had nothing to do with Diddy. This is harassment. ON Twitter 2017 someone whom I thought was impersonating Diddy, contacted me via DM telling me twenty times to open bank accounts for the purpose of embezzlement. They sent nude photos of themself having sex with underage boys. Now, I realize it really was Sean Diddy Combs. This COVID19 is really about these sick evil things being arrested. Hollywood and other weird psychotic places have been exposed. Anyone who tests positive for COVID19 will be tested for adrenochrome in their system and will be arrested. I had no idea how sick Hollywood was. I never would have agreed to write for Sean Combs had I known the truth. I love the Lord. I belong to God. I pray for those children who had to suffer being chained to walls and tortured to death while their adrenochrome was sucked from IV tubes. Lord, I have had to stay on my knees day and night praying to God since so many wicked deeds have been exposed.
I got charged 15 dollars without even subscribing, I never agreed to a 30 day trial or anything, I even went to my account settings to see if I accidentally had agreed to a subscription but there was no "cancel" button or anything. I believe they charged me for a credit, and not the 7.99 dollars that the normal monthly amount usually is. I have deleted my card from them and all I can do is hope that they don't charge next month? Bc there is absolutely no way for me to cancel..
We have been a member of Audible since the third month of 2003. We have 535 + books in our library. We have always burned the books to a CD. Audible over the last number of years has used iTunes to burn CD. Now they moved from using Audible Download Manger to Audible App. Now it will not allow me to burn books. They can say that it is not Audible, it is iTunes. That is BS, it all worked until they went to the new App. Audible tech support is the craps. The ones that you can understand are not much help. At one time tech support could use remote access to fix problems., no more. I have called over ten times. One tech said it was beyond what he could do. He sent the information to a level 3 tech. I did get an email back, but it was so technical that I could not use it. I call back and talk to a very nice girl in tech support. She read the file that was sent to me. She said she would not attempt to change all the stuff he said to change. I do understand that are on life support, but you can still burn CD and use in many ways, but not with Audible.
Just want to communicate that I will never subscribe to Audible again...
I had a subscription last year which I cancelled and realised after quite a few months that they where still charging my credit card, just to find out I had been upgraded without any consent of my own to a Gold' membership... cancelled gold membership, and wrote more than once letter of complaint. No response ever.
Now during corona' my son took a subscription, at Audible.it, which I allowed with my credit card, after two months he cancelled it (May) just to realise again they keept on charging me.
While his audible.it membership seemed indeed cancelled, he had magically a new subscription to gold' membership on audible.com, not made on his behalf.
Find this an incredibly bad, tricky and thief like service, am assuming they will again do nothing about it, besides sending me an automated mail back, I will indeed not suggest this service to anyone!
This is a terrible app to download, beware. I signed up for free month and after cancellation I have been charged twice, most recent today for 21.52 AUD.
I emailed and requested refund again, and then tried to delete my credit card details, except that it doesnt allow me to, it says you have to add another card instead.
What a nightmare, and I am obviously not only one.
They post books that have not been relesed. And do not tell you first. And if you do not know that the book has not been relesed (like me) look it up on the internet.
I joined Audible when I could not find the audiobook that my wife suggested to me. I took a 30 days trial offer and it turned out alright. Unfortunately, the book that I was looking for was boring so I exchange it for one I liked better (That was easy).
I was bothering the live chat customer service because I found out that I could not search for specific phrases in specific categories (ex. Podcasts only) they were polite and responded in a friendly manner.
By the end of the free trial, I received an email with notification for the end of my trial. I decided to continue my subscription. In my opinion, it is worth it even if not every single thing on Audible is perfect.
I just re-opened my membership 3 months ago and bought another book. Sat down tonight (July 1) to start it and my ID info will NOT get me in. I (nor you) can contact them without logging in. They do NOT make any contact info available. PUT YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE.
Answer: I've had the same problem, they charge me from the US AND Australia so I can't even cancel cos no access to these sites. If you manage to contact them, they should refund you
Answer: Not not a clue but they refunded me all the money back they took out my back so alls good
