Beware of purchasing any books from Audiobooks.com. I was scammed into a 'subscription' and have been trying to cancel the monthly charge for 2 months with no luck. I will have to dispute this charge as fraudulent to get it to stop.
When you try out their membership for free and try to cancel it later, it won't cancel after the first click. That would be OK since it is a big action, but guess what? It won't cancel even after the SECOND click. You need to click it THREE TIMES. Not to mention the last cancel button is quite hidden (LIKE YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE IT). They need to work on their UX/UI design quite a lot because right now it is horrendous and unfortunately DEVIOUS. It could have been remedied by giving a user an immediate option to cancel the subscription without the need to scroll an overwhelming chunk of information.
I suspended ny account fir 3 months but the promised email before restarting was not received and on joining i failed to find the "free" offers promised at the start; i believe it was made difficult to trick me into missing out; So I quit and re-logged in under another name and still could not see what i had missed; so yes poorly laid out at best or deliberately tricky at worst!
"Free Trial" COSTS YOU $14.95; Impossible to Cancel - 3 months@$14.95! SCAM COMPANY!
I clicked a link to listen to an Audio Book, but even though I signed up for the Free Trial, I was charged immediately through my account. I tried to contact them via any means, and sent them an email, which was never responded to.
1. I keep being charged every month even though I asked to cancel
2. I cannot access my account. I signed up through Apple and now when I try to log in it says invalid, no way to recover password or account
3. No access whatsoever to my billing information, ANYWHERE.
This is a SCAM!
I have tried canceling my audiobooks account several times. The first time, in June, I thought I had completed the process online. Then the next month my college-age daughter and myself noticed we were both getting billed so I called audiobooks to correct the situation and to cancel my account. I thought it was taken care of and now I notice I have been charged for August and September. I don't think my daughter is getting charged anymore; however, I still am. I want this to stop and I want to be reimbursed for the payments audiobooks has taken out of my account since I have been trying to cancel my subscription with them.
I clicked a link to listen to an Audio Book for Real Estate, but even though I signed up for the Free Trial, I was charged immediately through my PayPal account. I tried to contact them via any means, and sent them an email, which was never responded to. I thought that since I explained that I wanted to Cancel and get a Refund in my email, that that would take care of it, like a Normal Company. But, being busy, today, 3 months later, I get charged again and login to discover that i've been charged for June July & August, and never got the Cancellation or the Refund of the "PreAuthorization" charge of $14.95. So, I found a Chat window under Contact US, and was told, after many requests to Cancel & Refund ALL 3 charges, that they could cancel my account, and refund my 8.29.23 charge, but that I'd have to take my other two charges up with my PayPal & my Credit Card. I have now done that, since this company is Dishonest, and is Scamming people. If I hadn't been so busy, I would have followed up on the first email I sent, requesting that they Cancel & Refund, but I've been too busy. DO NOT USE AUDIOBOOKS.COM. THEY ARE A TOTAL SCAM COMPANY & WILL RIP YOU OFF!
I signed up for the Audiobooks.com free 30day trial and their terms of service specifically says they will not charge my card anything until the day after the 30 day free trial ENDS. But not trusting online companies I left just s few bucks on my card so they could verify my card was legit but not charge me the 14.95 in case they thought they were entitled too, and sure enough... The moment I signed up and hit submit after putting in my info and cc info to start my FREE trial, they tried charging me the 14.95 subscription fee right away. And can see it does this to everyone and then instead of giving people their MONEY back (so I've read), they give them a sort of "store credit" and put the money in your audio books account to use towards a book! So they are getting the money either way for what's suppose to be a free trial. Ya all suck!
I don't like posting negative reviews. But maybe it will save someone else from experiencing the same thing we have. We have enjoyed Christianaudio for years. But for some reason when we updated our payment method (our cc was expiring, so we entered the new number), they did not use the updated info, and stopped charging us. We did not notice for several months, and they never contacted us. When we did notice, I reentered payment info at least 3 times, waiting several weeks between times, and nothing. All our credits expired, so we lost the 18 or 19 credits we had. Totally their issue - we had supplied the payment info. When we called, they had no idea why it wasn't working and just told us we owe over a hundred dollars for the months that they had not charged us, when we couldn't get books anyway. No one has any idea how to fix the problem. No way to communicate except through email. Now what? So disappointing!
I signed up for the free trial and they took $14 out of my account instantly! I don't even like the app and I'm out of $14! Audible is so much better And they are honest and You get your free 30 day trial.
I tried to sign up with audiobooks.com and it would not work. I could load a book it was supposed to be a free trial. I assumed it didn't go through because it would not load. Just found out they have been charging me $16 a month for a service never used. Customer service must hear this a lot but would do nothing for me. Don't use this service it doesn't work and they get your information for free trial and charge you.
I tried the app, didn't like their inferior product, and cancelled my account.
Audiobooks kept charging me for 2 years.
When I found out, they did not agree to refund me, and kept my stolen money.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They advertise a free 30 day trial. They state that if you cancel within 30 days then there will be no charge to your credit card. If you choose to continue then your card will be charged $14.95 thirty days later. WELL THAT IS A LIE. I signed up at 9pm last night. I checked my credit card right after signing up and everything seemed legit. Well, low and behold, this sneaky company waits a few hours before charging your account just in case you check your credit card right after signing up. They charged my card at midnight. Well I don't do business with sneaky customers and cancelled my account, then called their customer service. The rep. Said they "pre-authorize" the amount. Come on folks, most companies send through a $1 authorization to make sure the card is good. This company snatches your money for thirty days and then will refund it if you cancel after their free trial. Save yourself from these con artists.
I just wanted to see if I would listen to audio books as I exercised. I did not want to use Amazon. So I subscribe and want one and only one book but I find out I can't get it. I don't want any of their book offers. I don't want to waste my time.
I signed up with my email, got the free trial but didn't like their selection so I cancelled immediately. On my account I can see that I've cancelled the account and that I have 0 hours of listening, 0 downloaded books. Months later I find out I'm being charged monthly. FOR SOMETHING I CANCELLED, AND NEVER USE. I go on their website, something you have to do if you want to cancel this app. It says I've already cancelled my account. So what am I supposed to do? I call their customer service. The number automatically hangs up. Three times. They are unreachable. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. Do NOT sign up for their free trial! It's impossible to cancel.
I love listening to audio recordings, mainly because i perceive such information better. That's why I prefer audio books over paper ones. I can't perceive paper books and when I start to read something I forget about this information within cpuple of minutes. One can state that it's not okay, while I'm sure that it's just my feature. I applied to this service in order to find some audio books to listen to. I found here plenty of books of various genres and already have listened to couple of ones. I would certainly recommend this service to all people, who can't read paper books.
This company enlists third party spammers to bombard people with spam. I don't need multiple messages daily from your spammer "affiliates" that use constantly changing fake domain names to try to circumvent spam filters. No legitimate company needs to use this type of advertising!
They say that when you get the free trial, you get all this good stuff, but you don't. They automatically tried charging my account when i signed up, and none of the audiobooks or anything showed up. When i go to cancel my membership, there is no way to do it, so you have to contact them. Total scam.
How did these people manage to take a payment from my credit card number? I bought nothing. They say they don't give refunds. That is theft - pure and simple. I wish they would contact me by email -- the poor 'customer' (victim) cannot even email them!
