I ordered a Like New book. When I received it, it had a personalized sticker on the cover. That should never have been listed as Like New. I contacted the seller to return the book. The seller refunded my money promptly, including my shipping. I appreciated that very much.
Alibris was rec to me by a guy I worked with, Greg H. I much prefer Alibris over Amazon. I really appreciate the options for searching…straight forward, no interruptions from "sponsors", just straight up sales. The ease with which you can find the book you search for and then search the same seller for others (price break on shipping) is flawless. A few "courtesy quirks (the 12 hr hold on items)" but after a bit of learning about Alibris' use of personal cookie settimgs, I do actually appreciate that hold, even if it is a bit annoying.
It was all good, except i probably misdirected the parcel to my old workplace. It got squared away, though. It's parked on my TBR pile as a write this.
This site usually has any book at a reasonable price. Searching is easy. I do find it ridiculous that this section has to be 50 characters. Making this process quick and easy would be another plus for this website. Also it wouldn't let me choose the no feedback option. I don't need one more things coming in on my email, so not happy about that.
Multiple times as I went to check out the system had an issue and when I would get back in my cart was empty and there seemed to be no way to any of my previous choices.
I did like the option to adjust my cart if Alibris found a way to make it more cost effective. After adjusting it to a great option for me and then loosing the cart more then once, I could not get it back to being as effective a distribution of books. I had to choose between hrs of frustration trying to find books into similar stores, paying over $90 in shipping, or cancelling books. Because of the time crunch, I have cancelled books I would have otherwise purchased. I feel like the website also used to say how much more you would have to spend to earn free shipping from different locations.
Two big improvements that would really have helped:
1. If as the checkout was suggesting book switches it took into account the Will arrive by Dec 24 icon. Especially as that only showed for books purchased from alibris and not your affiliates on the shopping cart page even if they did show on the books page... but not the book on the websites page, only on the one where it listed the book from multiple stores.
2.If the alternat choice checkout page also listed the alternate prices of the books in your cart from the other sellers in your cart no matter if there was a calculated savings or not. Sometimes I just wanted to see that page and had no option to bring it up. I know that there were several other books I had originally been set to get at Alibris, but after the cart when down the last time I was overly frustrated and didn't take the time to search for them again. However, I know that even if the individual price of the book went up, the savings from not having to pay shipping would have saved money in the overall.

Passwords are an unnecessary complication. I can never remember them. Sometimes I've given up and just gone to Abe books where I can still use a Guest checkout if I forget my password.
They always have a good selection of the books. I'm looking for, it always said good to like new condition. Upon receipt books are always in The condition as stated. Shipping is usually quick.
Great selection, a lot of more obscure titles, sourced from near and far. Every title I've purchased was in at least the advertised condition, and delivered in reasonable time.
Love this site. Have had a number of great experiences. However a few weeks ago I was given a refund and had to infer that the book in question was no longer available. I didn't see any notes or emails regarding the (lack of) transaction.

I needed six books in a series (as a gift), and I couldn't locate them anywhere else. I've used Alibris in the past, and I intend to make it my first choice when I need books.
Shipping charges are a biut deceptive. IT says eligible for free shipping and I selected books that were all eligible for free shipping (originally I had more in my cart totalling over $50). But then I was hit with high shipping charges compared to other sites.

Every book is a treasure! Alibris always has what I'm looking for. Books come in the condition described and from one reader to another the book adds value to those who read it and those who offer it for someone else to buy.
An issue: you keep sending me email requests (at *******@runbox.com) to verify that I received an order, but all you send is a date and shipment number. I frequently order books from Alibris. I'm not going to go and track down the date I ordered and the shipping number in order to answer your query. HOWEVER, if you listed what books I ordered in the email, I would easily be able to tell you immediately whether they arrived in good form.

I had to place order 3 times and try 2 different credit cards before it would go thru I finally think I got it but I'll have to wait to see if I get an mail confirming it
