Everything very smooth lately. Easy to use site with great prices. Have used MANY times and any problems have been very infrequent - customer service can be bumpy and slow, but all problems were eventually resolved well.
For years and years I've always had great things to say about Alibris, but my last 2 orders had problems (one did not arrive and the other was not packed securely enough for its weight and the items broke out of the box and all but one were lost). Dealing with customer service and getting refunds for the orders is/was much more difficult and time-consuming than I was expecting.
Also unless my experience was a fluke, it appears that the way Alibris handles refunds for parts of multi-item orders when a coupon was used is terrible. It seems that the full coupon amount is deducted from the refund rather than being prorated to the proportion of the order?
So, in the hypothetical case of someone placing an order for $150 for several items and using a $20 off coupon with it, if only one of the items - costing $12 - does not arrive, the full coupon amount of $20 would be deducted from the refund? Does that mean that the refund issued would be $0? Or would it be -8$... the customer would somehow OWE Alibris $8 for the book not being delivered? See the problem?
Many options regarding purchase, and variables between new and used and then hard cover and paperback. Otherwise ok.
