Overall I am quite pleased with the shopping experience at Alibris. And I have noticed over a period of years that the overall shipping experience and efficiency has generally improved at Alibris from what it used to be, even though there is still room for improvement especially relative to Amazon's superb shipping and delivery systems. I wish that Alibris had some type of offer for free shipping for Canadian residents as exists for USA residents (Super Saver Truck - orders over $39).
Even though my shipping destination was set to Canada, the website was giving me messages encouraging me to add additional items to my order to qualify for free shipping, but neglected to inform me that this offer is only open to USA residents until I inspected the offer more closely. Perhaps this website quirk could be resolved to avoid any future confusion.
I would suggest that a similar offer could be established for residents outside of the USA. Even if the threshold was higher than $39, like perhaps $70 USD, it would still be an incentive to order additional books / items from Alibris in order to qualify for free shipping. Thank you.
Overall a positive shopping experience. I wish shipping charges were not so high, especially from the USA to Canada. I almost ordered on Amazon instead because of the high shipping charges.
Pretty easy to use and search - good pricing with lots of selection
You removed items from my cart while I was still shopping to make additional selections to place in the cart. You indicate items going into the cart will be reserved for the purchase for 12 hours. I was not shopping more than one hour before their removal and then the website said what I originally selected was no longer available and the same item for an alternate price and condition was there.
Easy to find my textbook, easy to order, good price
I have been a shopper here for many many years. Always good prices and great selection. Aside from some unreliable stores, my experience here is good.

I had not used this account for a while and when I kept entering my password it didn't accept so I had to create a new one Very frustrating, but iIam ok.

Everything very smooth lately. Easy to use site with great prices. Have used MANY times and any problems have been very infrequent - customer service can be bumpy and slow, but all problems were eventually resolved well.
For years and years I've always had great things to say about Alibris, but my last 2 orders had problems (one did not arrive and the other was not packed securely enough for its weight and the items broke out of the box and all but one were lost). Dealing with customer service and getting refunds for the orders is/was much more difficult and time-consuming than I was expecting.
Also unless my experience was a fluke, it appears that the way Alibris handles refunds for parts of multi-item orders when a coupon was used is terrible. It seems that the full coupon amount is deducted from the refund rather than being prorated to the proportion of the order?
So, in the hypothetical case of someone placing an order for $150 for several items and using a $20 off coupon with it, if only one of the items - costing $12 - does not arrive, the full coupon amount of $20 would be deducted from the refund? Does that mean that the refund issued would be $0? Or would it be -8$... the customer would somehow OWE Alibris $8 for the book not being delivered? See the problem?
