The company's reputation is significantly marred by overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding its educational platform, which customers describe as ineffective and frustrating. Many users express dissatisfaction with the program's design, claiming it induces stress and confusion rather than facilitating learning. Common complaints include poor explanations, a punitive grading system, and a lack of engaging content. Additionally, customer service experiences are often characterized by delays and unprofessionalism, particularly concerning billing issues. Overall, the sentiment reflects a deep frustration with both the product and the support provided, indicating a need for substantial improvements in both areas.

**(IF YOU OR A LOVED ONE IS SUFFERING FROM ALEKS AIDS THIS WEBSITE [https://www.mathway.com] WILL HELP YOU A LOT)**
My f*****g god, where do I start.
1. They have some bs point system (5 points), you get a question wrong, you lose a point. This alone will hold you hostage in whatever topic you are on.
2. They give very vague explanations on how to do a problem, and then give you a problem that is COMPLETELY different from the ones that they "explained" on how to do.
3. It's expensive
4. They have some random "knowledge check" where you're forced to complete, before you can even begin your homework, so If you're behind, and you get forced into this pop quiz thing, you're f****ed.
5. You get no credit for your homework unless you complete the weekly time goal. Which is 6 hours. Seriously.
6. At first I Thought I was just crazy or seeing things, so I decided to take pictures of the answers that I wrote that were getting marked as wrong, and Aleks then shows me the right answers, and lo and behold THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME ANSWERS I PUT IN! (and the customer service is awful)
7. The most important thing I will tell you, It is a complete waste of time. You will likely learn NOTHING from this pisspoor website that you will spend HOURS on, and keep in mind that THIS IS JUST HOMEWORK!
This is the worst online homework system I have ever used. It wastes time and screws you every time you get a question wrong. This is ruining my year. Words cannot describe how angry I am.
It's really awful. Maybe I'm just getting old (I'm 32) but I simply prefer the old-school method of doing my homework with a physical textbook. I also don't like how ALEKS holds you prisoner if there's a section that you simply don't understand. You're not given the privilege to skip it in order to move forward with the next batch of homework. I think it's in my right for my homework grade to suffer (only a tad).
So... it's obviously not helpful for those that aren't so great at math and I think it's only a matter of time before students start boycotting to the point where administrations will have no choice but to ban it.
To put it bluntly, it's very expensive, and it's certainly not worth the price. I had to pay for access for my course, and for the cherry on top, the redirect page to the access code didn't even work. It timed me out after redirecting too many times and now I have to contact their customer support just to resolve this dumb issue. What's better is that I'll have to wait until Monday to get this issue resolved as their customer support hours are weekdays only. 2 days of inability to access the course, and those 2 days are just creeping up on the deadlines.
You have these random questions you have to do with instructions provided, but the instructions provided are just halfassed or are completely irrelevant to what you are being asked. You could have a question with fractions in it and they'll show instructions only regarding whole numbers. It's really dumb. The most common example being a worded example, but the instructions 60% of the time are completely different than the question being asked. If you fail an assignment, you are given a chance to retry it, depending on your instructor, but the question undergoes the SAME layout with different variables, and the instructions are unhelpful as ever. That's just 1 mark off the assignment.
Most of the questions they ask, you WILL be needing a calculator. I cannot stress this enough. Don't follow whatever instructions they give you regarding WHEN you need to use the calculator. Almost all the questions they assign you, you'll have to use a calculator, yet the option to use their site calculator feature is gone on 99% of the questions.
It seems that every online based learning website has its heinous sins. MyITLab, Aleks, etc. It has its moments, but the negatives just outweighs the positive. You're better off googling how to do some of the questions rather than following the short, uninformative instructions they provide.
This website is the WORST. It gives you impossible questions, takes away hard-earned points when you get one wrong, and doesn't allow you to do anything. I have to use this in my math class, and honestly, I don't know what my teacher was thinking when he introduced us to it.
ALEKS is an atrocious program This website makes me want to shoot myself in the #@$! Because i cant do anything with my life because this terrible excuse of a@!#&ing program makes me spend day and night wasting my life doing a bunch of bull@! I havent seen my family in years because im holed up in my room trying to do my math only for a knowledge check to send me back this website makes me lose brain cells rather than make me smarter and more advanced #@$! Aleks this was made by the devil and i hope i never have to do this again
This is the worst math online program, I have ever wasted monies on. This at a JC level is unbelievable and reeks of rip-off, the term used loosely.Do not waste one dime on this product, you need a real person with a pulse to assist you or you will fail. If you are having trouble understanding the repetitive explanation, good luck to you, as you will only get more and more frustrated. Horrible and wasteful to have at a college level. 2 thumbs down. Regret regret regret,
First, I only put a single star because you couldn't leave it empty. I wouldn't even give this program that. My school bookstore keeps the codes locked behind the counter and it must be handed to you by a staff member. The (student) staff member that gave me mine handed me the wrong one. I failed to read the instructions on double checking before opening so that was my bad. These bad boys are not cheap for a piece of card stock with a code on it, amounting to $86 per code. ALEKS as well as my school were unwilling to offer me a refund or exchange said code for the correct one. So I needed to spend another $86 to purchase the correct one. I do not need an access code to a course I am not even taking. That was upsetting to BEGIN with. After lots of confusion and missed progress deadlines, I finally figured it out. ALEKS likes to confuse the students. It provokes them to remember formulas- but incorrectly. Take for example the midpoint of a line segment. The formula ALEKS gives is complete trash because of the variables they use to illustrate it for the student. WHY would you use the same letter variable for completely different numbers?! The same letter variable represents the same number. That is literally how I've always seen it explained. I eventually found a formula via GOOGLE that was much easier for my mind to retain, as it gives different variable representation for different numbers (which is for the most part how everything with variables has been explained to me up until ALEKS). It's a horribly designed course. The company charges way too much for access to math tutorials that are mediocre at best. But, I'm assuming the college I go to has some sort of contract with them because I don't see my school doing away with it any time soon. There is too much money in failing students versus passing ones. Because they will pay until they pass. *Protect yourselves* make sure you confirm you purchased the correct code before opening because that money is gone once it's unsealed and you will have to pay it again to receive the code you actually need. It's horrible. I hate it. But I have to pass it to earn my credits. *Shrug*
This website pisses me off so much. ALEKS has to be the most ineffective education tool I have ever seen. Not only is it a huge waste of time but it also just does not teach me anything that my regular homework already hasn't. Whenever your answering a question on ALEKS it counts every little mistake you make as your answer being completely wrong. In chemistry, I could be answering a question in which I have to fill out an entire 8 column chart. And even if I fill out every single part of the chart correctly but make one tiny mistake in the spelling an element or some bull$#*! like that, then it counts the entire question as being wrong. I could have filled out every single column incorrectly and it would be equally as wrong as the one tiny mistake scenario. This is a flawed system in every way possible and you could imagine my frustration when I have been working for hours and this is my last question and I get set back completely and now have to restart this topic.
I swear to god if I ever become a millionaire the first thing I would do is buy ALEKS just so I could shut it down instantly so nobody would ever have to deal with this bull$#*! again!
Whoever made this abomination is the worst human being ever and I hope to god this $#*!ing company goes under. Explanations are horrible and the questions are way too strict. It's almost like they want us to $#*!ing fail. You are punished for every typo and little detail. I spend hours every day doing this and I miss doing regular assignments with pencil and paper and having a teacher guiding us instead of a computer. What do we even pay our teachers and professors for anymore. All positive reviews are paid for and fake. This is borderline torture, all for a completion grade. Dear schools- STAY AWAY FOR OUR MENTAL HEALTH
This is the worst program I have ever used. I spend all $#*!ing day doing this $#*!, and it drives me insane. I can't take it anymore. The creator of this is a psychopath.
This program costs too much so our school had to stop using garlic bread and instead spread some butter and garlic salt on stale hot dog buns.
A lot of times aleks has helped me learn a topic, but the professors overwhelm students with it. It becomes a ridiculous amount of homework. I remember the anxiety I felt having to do hours of this every week. It was non-stop. It would be more productive to study for the class instead, but you can't because your Professors assigned you hours of hw to do. It would be good if we were given like 5-10 topics a week but I was getting near 50 a week and it was a waste of time.
It's insane how much time it takes to do these problems, I spend hours and hours just doing several topics. And not to mention, this is just the HOMEWORK. So there's studying on top of this and that's five hours of my day for one class. Maybe I'm just stupid or I learn horribly slow, but I absolutely learn nothing from this computer program. Also, I almost shat my pants when I saw that I needed to do 23 (!) topics in a week. What the actual hell? One more thing, there's multiple times where I put in the correct answer and the program marked me wrong! Like it says 4.50 grams is wrong, and I check it and the answer key says 4.50 grams. I also had to pay money for this garbage. If your professor makes you do this, you better make sure it's for extra credit or 5% of the total course grade.
What an utter disappointment ALEKS is. If your class requires usage of this widely detested program, be prepared for an unnecessarily challenging semester regardless of the course material. ALEKS transforms even the most elementary mathematical concepts into a rigorously tedious man vs. uncooperative computer program $#*! show. Try to comprehend the discouragement of working your way through several minutes of a topic, only to forget a negative sign, input an accidental comma - or any other inadvertent misclick - and see your progress bar diminish before your eyes. Pain is all I know. If ALEKS has taught me one thing, it is pain; and unfortunately for you, this program does not discriminate... it hates us all equally.
$#*! YOU MCGRAW HILL
Dear students,
If you just signed up for a class that requires even ten seconds of aleks, DROP THE CLASS. Graduate late if you must. If you don't, you may get to the point where failing the class seems like a better idea than continuing in ALEKS, which is where I am now. Utter $#*!. To everyone in aleks now, Tell your professors. Tell your teachers. Tell everyone you know that it's an awful program. McGraw Hill has somehow marketed this program as an effective replacement for teaching, and that won't stop unless YOU do something. Don't just let this massive company turn your education into a waste of money. DO something about it! JUST $#*!ING COMPLAIN!
Worst software ever, I've cried 5 times and I'm a dude in college. Honestly I can't even remember the last time I was so frustrated with something like this. I work full time alongside college classes and this is the most tedious, stressful, difficult, and under developed software on the face of this earth. Not helpful at all whatsoever.
ALEKS turns me into a hyperventilating, shaking, violent mess. I've never been the best there is at math, but I had a decent grasp of algebra upon graduating high school. I am now taking college algebra, and I don't even know what I'm supposed to be learning about half the time. The past three modules (between 16-29 topics each)have left me in tears. Oh, and I have the fun new habit while I do my ALEKS (or when I think about having to do my ALEKS) of literally yanking strands of hair out of my head. ALEKS is one of the only things I ever think about anymore, and I feel like I'm truly losing my mind. Oh, and I need to buy a new calculator since it was the only thing within an arms length that wasn't my laptop when I uncontrollably started throwing things at the wall.
The explanations are incredibly vague, the work load every student receives is overwhelming, and it has a very long loading duration. Cancer.
Even all of my teachers say they don't like it. It's really bad, no one likes it, I used to like math, now I hate it.
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
