I can't tell you how damn pissed off ALEKS makes me and to the developers you can go f*** yourself. Can't even pass certain topics and then ALEKS gives a sorry $#*! explanation, of which not even Einstein could understand. They only provide videos on very few topics and 90% of the time those videos don't even discuss the topic. Sometimes explanations skip over critical steps and then the student is left 100% confused. I taught and learned more on YouTube. If I could give zero stars, I would in a heartbeat.

Holy friggin' christ this program is trash. If ALEKS was a movie it would be compared to heaping piles of crap like The Room. However, unlike The Room, ALEKS is not so bad that it makes you laugh at the complete mess it is. No. It is the complete opposite. The best way I can describe doing a topic in ALEKS is having your eyes gouged out with a blunt spoon while having your toenails ripped off one by one as you have to listen to talk radio. A knowledge check is even worse. Going into it, you know right from the get go that you are going to lose some topics, which ultimately sets you back and you end up having less topics than before. I'm pretty sure ALEKS was designed by a bunch of chimpanzees in a typewriter room running around clashing cymbals and throwing their sh*t at each other. If you are wondering whether or not to get ALEKS, do yourself a favor by not wasting the money that should go towards your car insurance and a whole lot of torture. If you don't believe me, just read the other 500-something 1 star reviews and have a nice day.

I am an honor student 4.0 GPA kind of person and not even I can figure out this garbage program. I will literally sit for hours on one topic and if I forget a comma, or do a comma instead of a period, well then too bad! This program will even say the correct answer is wrong! I try to be a nice calm person, but every time this program drives me to edge where I am swearing and yelling at my computer. Eventually, I'll just be a disheveled mess crying alone at 12 am because this program is actually Satan himself. NEVER USE THIS SITE EVER IF YOU WANT TO LIVE A HAPPY POSITIVE LIFE!

IF YOU HAVE TO DO AN ONLINE COURSE WITH ALEKS, RUN. I have to use Aleks for a college math course and let me tell you, DO NOT TAKE AN ONLINE MATH COURSE OR ANY COURSE THAT USES ALEKS. It repeatedly gives you questions that often have no connection to your tests and quizzes, it takes points away if you miss a question, there is NO skip button and the explanations are absolutely terrible. This program has caused me literally meltdowns as I have spent hour after hour cycling through this $#*!ery. It may seem simple at first, but then the next thing you know it['s been 8 hours and you're crying because it deletes your progress if you get one question wrong. This is a terrible program. Save yourself before it is too late

ALEKS is basically just to make sure that there isn't a moment in life when you're not feeling stressed. In my school, we have to do 4 topics every day, which builds up as someone with ADHD and usually only gets 0-2 done per day. There is NEVER a time in my life anymore where there isn't anything to be stressed about. It takes me about 8 hours just to catch up after being maybe 16 topics behind. It's horrible and takes away from life.

I'm a Junior in high school. Not too long ago my school system decided to implement this program into the education system. Upon first glance (Freshmen year), i didn't really mind it at all. It didn't take up a chink ofmy grade in algebra 1A (my overall grade was a B or B+ for that class). Then, algebra 1B in sophmore year came, and boy do I have a hate for this site.
The function behind it is so goddamn wonky, and even though this year the cirriculum took down the topic amount a notch, it still manages to ruin my grade due to those "Knowledge Checks". I'm in geometry and even now i'm failing that class because of the Aleks program. The $#*!tiest part is that my dad's now blaming my grade on me. Thanks ALEKS for $#*!ing up my credibility to my dad.

I would rather jump off a 500 story building headfirst and the impale myself with a pole than use this program. This program makes satan want to commit suicide. Its hell x500. I want to $#*!ing kill myself. Oh? You get a question wrong? Here is 30 minutes of free time to go $#*!ing kill yourself? Oh? You want to graduate? $#*! you. Heres an F for not completing 1000 topics and 100 knowledge checks in 1 week. $#*! Aleks. Aleks can rot in hell with Hitler and Satan.

ALEKS claims to be progress-based, but this simply can't be true, given the nature of the program. Like others have mentioned, progress for each of the topics is measured by a little bar at the top of the screen. A tiny mistake, say a typo or forgetting an exponent, will bring all your hard work to a screeching halt as you lose a point on your progress bar. The more frustrated you get, and the harder the questions get, the more mistakes you will inevitably make. It is often much easier to lose your progress than to keep it on ALEKS. Another tool it has for killing your progress are the infamous knowledge checks, which come without warning and will often result in you having to revisit anywhere from 20-50 topics, in my experience. With these factors, it is easy to see that ALEKS is more interested in dull regurgitation and perfectionism, more than anything else. You are already at a severe disadvantage with this system if you don't have an inherent skill in math, which most people do not. Ironically enough, this website is the brainchild of a mathematical psychologist, which is rather hilarious when you see the obvious, harmful effects this program has on students, but I would like to think that it was bastardized by the corporate greed of McGraw-Hill. It is bewildering that this system seems to be gaining more and more popularity at the high school and college level, but it is likely because it is cheaper and more "efficient" than hiring a real, human teacher. Teachers and administrators should avoid this website at all costs, and realize that nothing can replace real people when it comes to teaching any subject, math or otherwise.

I just spent my whole evening trying to complete topics to raise my 'unit 2 topic completion' percentage and boy is it quite the $#*!stain disaster, as per usual.

Im over here busting out 42 God Damn topics for this unit and i only have the bare minimum percent completed.
