Ordering from website was great, beautiful interactive page. After that, wasn't impressed with the communication of the installation. Was scheduled for a Thursday, they then cancelled and said Friday morning. That became Friday around noon. Installer called (after I called company), said they would be there at 2:30. Didn't show up until 3:00.
Once they finally showed, it went up quick and looks great.
When I ordered my carport on-line I selected the color CLAY for my sides. At the time I made my selection selection CLAY was a fairly dark, reddish color. By the time Alan's arrived to install my carport, at least 4 months later the color of my sides were very different from what I'd ordered. As of now the color listed as CLAY on their website has changed to a light tan & the color I'd ordered is no longer available. I had ordered a sandstone roof and on my installed carport I can't tell the difference between the color of the sides and the roof. On-line when I designed my carport the CLAY was darker & redder & set off the sandstone roof nicely. Now the carport appears to be entirely the same color and looks dull and kind of ugly.
Also, my garage doors were not installed correctly and need to be corrected as they can't be latched. Also they latch from the outside, which seems kind of dumb and adds the need for a padlock to secure them. The actual installation of the metal building was well done though.
Overall my experience with Alan's Factory Outlet was not a good one. I wouldn't deal with this company in the future. I was never informed of the color changes or contacted to see how my installation had gone and I feel cheated.
I will cut to the chase. If you are less than a 6,000$ dollar job you will be placed at the end of the line and stay there. They started my order on February. I have been waiting since April of 2022 when I provided the local building permit. Their screener will not give or allow you to talk to anyone higher. They are linked to Carolina Carports locally. Same story there, however at least they were honest. I have done everything requested and followed up monthly. Now I have to start over with the whole process.
I bought a 30x31 carport to go over my 28' camper and was told I needed upgraded supports for Pennsylvania winters. When the installers came they charged an extra $150 because it was to be installed over a "residence'. Shady in my humble opinion. We had a snowstorm with 2-1/2 feet of snow and the roof collapsed and damaged my camper. I was told, by the rep from Alan's Factory Outlet, that they wouldn't warrant that amount of snow... even though I paid the upgrade and it was within the 1 year warranty period. I had to turn it in to my insurance, not get full value and had to contact a construction firm to take it down...$1400 out of pocket expense. I will NEVER buy anything from this company. I feel I was deceived and they don't REALLY honor their warranty. Buyer beware!
Christi was as nice as can be and the communication was good, but apparently their supplier (Carolina Carports) requires a 170 mph wind rating for any location south of I-10 in the Houston area, and they couldn't do the garage door as high or wide as I wanted. I guess that's the difference between using a Virginia company and a Texas company. I found a Texas company and from the time I first contacted them to two weeks later, I had my carport-shed built, and with 140 mph wind rating. Allens also apparently have a 2 month or more lead time on builds. Glad to have gotten mine done by a Texas company before winter. The attached picture is what the Texas company built for me.
I ordered 2 carports, they take 2 months to show up, ok. They come to install them and the crew doesn't feel like working? So they reschedule for never, I've called 5 time and now no carport. I had to get my money back! DON'T Waste your time!
All went easily until time for installation, installers no show or call 2 days in a row, after many calls to scheduling with promised phone calls not returned, The installers then showed up at 8; 30at night. Not only were they days late but they didn't have the upgraded screw I paid for and Installed the "not correct" ones with out even asking or advising prior. Called Alans and Carolina Car ports and spoke to customer service at both places and was credited for wrong screws... no offer to help with the 2+ days of missed work... Its a shame because the product it self is awesome!

I requested a change from vertical siding to horizontal multiple times over the course of a week. The change was never done they just kept sending me the same contract day after day. Finally I got an email that stated because I didn't sign my contract before the 15th they were adding a 17% surcharge. "We understand if you want to cancel because of this" of course I cancelled. If they had changed my contract as requested the contract would have been signed and the price would have been over two thousand dollars less.
Bought a 18x26 metal building online from Alan's on 10/23/2019. They sent a contract with the name Carolina Carports I googled them and saw they had terrible reviews. I emailed Alan's about my concerns and they assured me they were a good company. They were wrong. Carolina Carports have been to my house twice with little shed on a huge trailer. They can't make it up the driveway they sent the same huge trailer back a second time. Now they want me to modify my driveway for them. I've had septic truck, furniture truck, cement truck all up no problem.
Order building last week of March. June 26st after calling and emailing install date kept changing. Finally had to call Carolina carport and ask for a date of install. New install week of July 13th we shall see, advertise 6 to 8 weeks. That is from your date you confirm site ready. Will not refund deposit. Read all reviews before ordering. Understand Covid 19 issue. Had some effect on delay but have read other reviews before pandemic with same issue.
Wasted $7,000 on this trash, sorry design, sorry installation. Not enough letters to describe the terrible experience
I purchased the above garage from Alan's with a ~2-3 month lead time. No problem. We poured the slab so we were ready for delivery. On delivery day, installers erected the building in 1.5 days. We first realized that we needed to insulated the building because it was 120+ degrees inside as well as need power. So we insulated the entire building and ran power to it. I noticed a couple of rough leaks and called Alan's and they asked if I could send pics which I did. SOON AFTER THAT THEY GOT BACK TO ME TO INFORM ME THAT THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY IS NOW VOIDED BECAUSE BECAUSE THE BUILDING HAD MODIFICATIONS DONE, IE FOAM 4 X 8 SHEETS AND ELECTRICAL. SO BASICALLY ALAN'S IS TELLING YOU TO SIT AND LOOK AT YOUR NEW INVESTMENT FOR 1 YEAR. WOW! REALLY. JUST AN EASY WAY TO GET OUT OF MAKING ANY REPAIRS TO THE BUILDING THAT WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY. DO NOT BUY FROM ALAN'S
Happy with carport, but installation needs a lot of improvement. 2 mounting brackets are not secured, and loose. Do not understand why a work order needs to be put in
I spent ******* 00 on a 20x30 garage and you can't put a garage door opener on it.because it's plastic. But it states n Alan's guide you can. Wrong
Carports are not custom can't put it in a driveway beside a house because the worker need 3ft of space stupid all they have to do is work from the inside out beware.
RUN FOREST RUN! Do not USE THIS COMPANY. I chose them because they initially had good reviews and seemed to be a Christian ran company. They take your deposit and then outsource to Carolina Carports and they are terrible! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, very rude, did NOT finish the job and will NOT even answer the phone now, neither company will answer the phone or get back with you... I have been trying for over 3 months to get them to come back and finish the job! I want to sue them. They left trash all over, caused me to cut myself removing the extra metal they left behind, got a flat from the screws they left all over my yard and I could go on and on... I gave them several chances to fix this before I gave bad reviews, but i am furious... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED... do NOT use them or carolina carports
Although the phone service of the company dispatched to do the carport was scratchy, the carport was completed 2 months ahead of schedule and the guys were very good.
True story: just over a year ago paid my deposit for a carport, waited patiently for it to come. Called throughout the year asking about it. They always said they were behind on materials blah blah blah. But did always offer to return my deposit. I did choose to continue waiting. Last week after a year a one week of waiting I had made up my mind i was not going another week waiting i had to know when my carport would come. I called and nobody could tell me anything when it might arrive and was told a email was sent out in my behalf asking about order. And that they may email or contact me sometime in the week to tell me something. Well, I had it and was tired of waiting so I said just cancel the order and refund my deposit. The lady on the phone complied. A few hours later someone contacted me saying my carport would be there in a few days and assured me my order was not canceled. So I thought ok finally! The I get a email a few days later saying they tried to refund my credit card with the deposit I made but would not go through. ( credit card been renewed since) so now I don't know what's going on at this point. Hope whoever's takes the time to read this has better luck then I did. Geeez
Quality built products, made to order and delivered & installed by professionals! All around fabulous experience and I have already recommended Alans Factory Outlet to a few of my business associates!
Delivery time was poor, customer service poor, installers were good. Product was satisfactory. Contract said 10 percent discount if late, they would only give 5 percent. Took lots of talking to get that! Look harder to find local business around where you live!
Answer: I paid in October and it was installed in Dec last month.
Answer: Leave off the roll up doors. If you remove the Carolina doors you lose your warranty. But you can buy an opener and modify it so it maybe would work and lose your warranty on the opener if it quits.
Answer: No they deliver when they get 5 or 6 more buildings.
Answer: They use shady install contractors. I bought a garage online from Alan's and was sent a contract with name Carolina Carports on it. They are a total joke with 2 out of 5 star review. They've been out twice and still unable to install tiny 18x26 on new slab. I wouldn't hire them to put up a doghouse.
