Happy with our purchase, delivery and set up was delayed due to weather but over all had a good experience with both companies Alan's factory outlet and Carolina carports. Had a storm the night it was installed it seemed to hold up well with 40mph winds. Overall happy with everything so far would recommend.
Youve been warned. And 8k reviews its IMPOSSIBLE to have 4.8 stars... They're generated, use your head. TOTAL SCAM wont show an example of their product, try to get everything you want verbally over the phone and wont put it in writing, or bare minimum. They ignore emails, and try to haggle with you over the phone, then try to make you sign a contract to pay with the product unseen, and claim they have a backlog you have to wait for months for your product... I was sent 1 sample of the siding and its foil thin, poor quality, and I still havent seen the frame yet, or even the schematics of how it assembles. Frames not painted. It's not even an option... Poor customer service, Im good.
I spent ******* 00 on a 20x30 garage and you can't put a garage door opener on it.because it's plastic. But it states n Alan's guide you can. Wrong

Ordering from website was great, beautiful interactive page. After that, wasn't impressed with the communication of the installation. Was scheduled for a Thursday, they then cancelled and said Friday morning. That became Friday around noon. Installer called (after I called company), said they would be there at 2:30. Didn't show up until 3:00.
Once they finally showed, it went up quick and looks great.
I will cut to the chase. If you are less than a 6,000$ dollar job you will be placed at the end of the line and stay there. They started my order on February. I have been waiting since April of 2022 when I provided the local building permit. Their screener will not give or allow you to talk to anyone higher. They are linked to Carolina Carports locally. Same story there, however at least they were honest. I have done everything requested and followed up monthly. Now I have to start over with the whole process.
you are much easier to deal with than my building dept thanks.please send blueprints in paper form. thank you s.s.

Arrived days late (eventually came on Sunday evening about 2 hours before dark), assembly crew communication poor and spokesman somewhat rude. Installation not completed. Rock formations in terrain reportedly preventing properly securing base. Of course kept deposit and no contact ever received from company to attempt to resolve issues. No plans to recommend - stay local.
Where do I start this has been a very stressful interaction! I order the building, I make my deposit and I get a email telling me that I need to give them more money because the building is in a hurricane area which it is not a problem I pay the extra money on the deposit so now I get my concrete contractor out and we go over the web page for Alan's so after our meetings and review of Alan's web page we decide on the plan for the concrete I ordered a 30x40 building by Alan's web page they want a pad that's 31x41 which is a recommendation not a requirement, so when finished with the pad I send pictures and then the emails go on for two weeks that I poured MY pad wrong I guess their sales staff are engineers also but it goes on and on till I say just send me my building I'll take responsibility for any problems so now I'm told I'll hear something in about 4 weeks at the end of that time I get a text from Carolina carports wanting pictures ok. I send brand new ones and send a text back when are you bring the building? So I can arrange the day off to pay them and nothing so I wait a week and still nothing so I call Alan's back and talk with someone I just want some information you've got thousands of my money I just want to know when and where I'm not being ugly about this if it's a another month ok that's fine but at least I know but now I'm on the phone getting a lecture again your concrete is wrong! What the hell I had a concrete guy plus myself review their information on line this had become unreasonable I just want my building put in place what's the problem I don't usually get bothered by much but these guys immediately began wanting me to give them a review I responded with when the jobs complete then I will but after this wow not so good the customer service after they get money is awful I began this process on Jan 17 2022 and now it's mar 11 and still no date for delivery or anything So now what do I do cancel or just wait till they decide to show up now I see why they try and get a review after the deposit and not at the end Be careful doing business on line
As a pastor i look for businesses such as this one who post a testimony of their relationship with the Lord. In dealing with the issue of the install now being estimated well past their 120 day goal I hit some snags in dealing with the company. However Alan himself expressed that his desire was to make things right and that is exactly what he did. A person's character shines true when the situation becomes difficult and in this case Alan showed his genuine concern for his customers.
I was ready to order. All info filled out online. Called because had a couple of questions. Representative unable to say how long I would have to wait (other than "months"). When asked if that was 2-4 months, said she didn't know, asked about 6-9 months, and was told it could be even longer. Said I would call back--but I won't.
Then I found out all Alan's does is "take orders" for Carolina Carports--who have terrible reviews. Glad I decided to read Carolina Carport reviews. I'll be buying local, and have carport in 2-4 weeks---NOT AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF MONTHS.
Tip for consumers:
Read reviews from several sites before ordering. If you don't mind paying your deposit money, and not having a clue when (or if) you will get your product, this is the company for you.
Happy with carport, but installation needs a lot of improvement. 2 mounting brackets are not secured, and loose. Do not understand why a work order needs to be put in
I had previously been requested to complete a review prior to actually receiving my new carport. I declined to do a full review until delivery and installation was complete.
Most of us are more than too happy to complain, but not real happy to compliment when a job has been completed to expectation. Before I made my purchase, I read what the expectations were and I mentally accepted and prepared for a long process. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was contacted after 32 days and had my carport assembled completely on the day they promised. I am giving the 5 star review due to the fact that they delivered and assembled without any of the issues that I hade read about. Also, the product that was delivered is top quality. I am very pleased!
So, if you are planning to purchase with Alan's Factory Outlet, do yourself a favor and read everything first. If you accept the fact that it will take a while before your product arrive and be assembled, then you will be satisfied as well. Doo not accept the terms and then complain the entire time that you are waiting.
Great job guys and I would be happy to purchase from you guys again.
We recently had a storage building installed and there are a few things I wish I had known sooner as I would have ordered differently.
First off, it's important to know that Alans is a retailer of Carolina Carports. Alans does nothing more than take your order, verify property placement, and pass you along to Carolina Carports for the product purchase and installation. An initial payment percentage goes to Alans at time of order and then the second payment gets made out directly to CC at the time of installation. Once you place your order and confirm installation, it's important to know that Alans wants nothing more to do with you and will not offer any customer service moving forward.
Secondly, Alans cares very little about the installation and success of your purchase. We ordered a 40x60 storage building through Alans at the end of March. When you build your shed online, you have the option of having the installers install common-sized doors and windows, -OR- you can opt to have the same sizes framed out for you to install your own. We opted to have two windows and an entry door framed out so we could install matching doors and windows to those of our new home. After spending $850 on doors and windows in those sizes, they do not fit. Alans conveyed to CC to make our window and door openings to that exact size, leaving the holes too small for installation of either.
Said another way, if you have the team install doors and windows, they cut the rough openings large enough for a window or door. When you request to have them framed for you to install yourself, they don't offer you the same courtesy.
Anywhere else on this planet, when you tell someone you want to install a standard-sized window or door at a set size, they ALWAYS leave a rough opening ½-1" larger to accommodate. Not at Alans. I went back and forth with Melissa and Suzie from their customer support team and they had no interest in helping me resolve the situation or offering any refund to help absorb the custom window and door cost. We're currently in this nightmare for I'm $2100 for custom doors and windows for a $6400 shed.
I will add that I am happy with the shed itself and the installation crew did a great job.Again, zero of that credit goes to Allans.
Tip for consumers:
Buy from manufacturer and installer, not retailer as they don't offer any customer support.

Christi was as nice as can be and the communication was good, but apparently their supplier (Carolina Carports) requires a 170 mph wind rating for any location south of I-10 in the Houston area, and they couldn't do the garage door as high or wide as I wanted. I guess that's the difference between using a Virginia company and a Texas company. I found a Texas company and from the time I first contacted them to two weeks later, I had my carport-shed built, and with 140 mph wind rating. Allens also apparently have a 2 month or more lead time on builds. Glad to have gotten mine done by a Texas company before winter. The attached picture is what the Texas company built for me.
Order building last week of March. June 26st after calling and emailing install date kept changing. Finally had to call Carolina carport and ask for a date of install. New install week of July 13th we shall see, advertise 6 to 8 weeks. That is from your date you confirm site ready. Will not refund deposit. Read all reviews before ordering. Understand Covid 19 issue. Had some effect on delay but have read other reviews before pandemic with same issue.
Carolina carports has the worst rating you can get. If you want some other company find someone else. Alan is only a front for Carolina carports. My roof blew off my 20 x 34 building 6 months ago and all I have are continuous excuses from Alan's Metal Buildings. If not for Alans, Carolina would not be in Business. Don't be deceived.
We are so happy with our garage and the great service from Alan's. Our garage looks absolutely wonderful. Thank you Carolina Carports and Alan's. I highly recommend them
I only gave you a 4-star rating on the overall because I was not sure if the order included free installation and not just free delivery.
Please advise.
The unexpected extra $50 because I live in Texas does not make me happy. Be up front about the additional cost.
I bought a 30x31 carport to go over my 28' camper and was told I needed upgraded supports for Pennsylvania winters. When the installers came they charged an extra $150 because it was to be installed over a "residence'. Shady in my humble opinion. We had a snowstorm with 2-1/2 feet of snow and the roof collapsed and damaged my camper. I was told, by the rep from Alan's Factory Outlet, that they wouldn't warrant that amount of snow... even though I paid the upgrade and it was within the 1 year warranty period. I had to turn it in to my insurance, not get full value and had to contact a construction firm to take it down...$1400 out of pocket expense. I will NEVER buy anything from this company. I feel I was deceived and they don't REALLY honor their warranty. Buyer beware!

Put order in for carport with 3 sides several months ago and was told because of virus they are behind, calls not returned until 5 different calls made. Sickening sweet on telephone and told to leave message. Just cant seem to get them to deliver. Was told I could cancel, well yes they would as prices went up. Finally truth came out if I ordered over $6,000 they could come and do a job, but not carport as it did not make enough money off of it. Truth finally comes out. First was told they cant get anyone to come to Virginia or West Virginia. True and loyal companies don't do business like this. So just waiting lets all blame everything on the virus. I call it an easy cop out.
The site check out Was difficult. It did not explain I had to re enter all information for shipping. Instead it looked like it was asking for the info for a sign up to receive emails. The site would not let me remove the checks in the box to opt out of emails and to not have my credit card saved.
I called to buy a lean to for my existing rv cover. I was told you cannot sell me one because you did not sell me the cover. I didn't even want it installed just dropped with the 28 x 21 triple wide carport i purchased from you. That's confusing. I thought you sold metal buildings. But iI guess you only sell to existing customers who have your buildings?
I requested a change from vertical siding to horizontal multiple times over the course of a week. The change was never done they just kept sending me the same contract day after day. Finally I got an email that stated because I didn't sign my contract before the 15th they were adding a 17% surcharge. "We understand if you want to cancel because of this" of course I cancelled. If they had changed my contract as requested the contract would have been signed and the price would have been over two thousand dollars less.
There are things that are not stated upfront like the docusign.
It is more an issue that you have to read thru the entire document to make sure that
I would really like to see how the color combination would look on the product that I am purchasing. That would make the decision much easier.
Thanks.
