Rip-off

This is my 2nd time getting ripoff by ADT I call to update some of my equipment so over the phone they give you one price telling you one thing than when the service guy come everything changes nothing will works than the price goes higher so they did it again this time my camera doesn't work they were aware of this the day of I was told I would have to pay for another service call for them to come out I'm already paying a higher price than what I agreed on before the service guy came out they don't care about you they just want your money

Not good company

I am ADT customer almost 15 years. I sold my business to my friend and I told my friend keep ADT service. I cancel my account and my friend open new account. Customer service told me, I do not need to pay bill because I paid bill before I use service and I recommend friend open account with ADT, I got confirmation for close my account and I do not need to pay bill. After 2 weeks I got bill. I called customer service and waiting long time. I thought I do not need to pay bill. Finally I must pay bill. It's too bad. I will not recommend ADT to another friend.

Put our home at risk
December 31, 2021

We had ADT for 18 years. The alarm went off accidentally and my husband called to say it was a false alarm. He gave her the right password but they called the police anyway. An officer broke into the house with a gun drawn. He demanded my husband's ID. We also discovered he broke three sprinkler heads. All unnecessary as he said the right password.

Recently ADT contacted us to upgrade the system constantly. We were out of town so could not have it upgraded. We were harassed with texts, calls, emails. I had to call several times to explain we were gone. We finally got home and they had a flyer hanging from our door. Nothing like advertising we were out of town! Also the upgrade would include putting the keypad in a different place above an outlet which would look awful with a cord hanging down from the keypad to the outlet.

We bought a simplysafe system we can control via an app. We should have left years ago!

I had just paid for ADT. I noticed that it didn't ask me my shipping address, which is different from where I will be having it set up. I immediately called ADT back and waited on hold for 10 minutes. A guy answered laughing at another conversation with someone he was in the room with, no big deal I just waited for him to stop laughing. After a bit he started to call me and sort of listen to what I was saying. It was hard to understand him when he talked. I guess because he was still in his laughing mode. I told him the situation and he immediately said you need to call FedEx, I said, call FedEx I just placed the order a minute ago. What do you mean. He said please hold ma'am. 10 minutes later, never returned to the call. Not a good start with ADT. I was fuming to the point of almost tears. Due to the situation I was running late for work. I hope ADT gets it together. Don't feel very secure from that call, and that's the point of getting a system. Very disappointed to say the least.

Eventually another man answered and he was very helpful and kind. He apologized for the behavior of the previous man.

Still, not feeling good. Really brought on my stress level, which is already in place from being a first time home owner.

ADT should be there to make people feel safe.

They over Charge from my Bank Account, And when I called them only Sorry. Still I m waiting since more then 40 days still they are in pending. Dont do auto payment with them. They charge me almost two year in a month from my account...

Was locked into a contract and when I wanted to get out, they refused, said I have to pay the full balance. Fine. I paid for over a year, and when my contract was up, I called and cancelled. They told me over the phone I had cancelled. Apparently, they lied. Kept invoicing me anyway. Then, when I tried to re-cancel, they told me I should be afraid of someone breaking in, murdering my family, raping my wife, etc. fearmongering without ADT. I spent over 45 minutes just trying to cancel. Finally, they cancelled. Then they decided to charge for the months they kept invoicing me. They refuse to waive the balance. In fact, they will probably keep invoicing my family, even though they once again say it is cancelled. Stay well away from these vultures.

They install motion sensors so high that it didn't react when my business broke and robbed. Their technician simply told me that it was ADT fault but when I call them for compensation of my loss they even refused to take responsibility. Zero star from me

Waste of time
December 10, 2021

ADT has NO Customer Service. It is tedious to get someone to talk to. No one has 5mins to wait on a phone. I am a customer for 21 yrs. I scheduled appt to have doorbell cameras installed. Ask for Sat. Appt. Got a 10 - 5:00 window. NO ONE SHOWED UP. Got call at 5:10p fr. ADT cancelling the Apt. I waited months and tried again. Got appt for weekday 2weeks before they cancelled that Apt. Citing only " supervisor's instructions. I ask for the next available appt. Got it for a week day. It took day off from work. I tried hours to confirm this appt the day before. Finally got it confirmed in the pm. That process was so tedious it felt like the young lady took at least 2mins to ask each question. On the day of Appt Adt calls again to cancel citing " I did not confirm" ADT needs to retire itself as the old grandfather it is. THERE IS A LOT OF COMPETITION OUT THERE HOME SECURITY IS NO LONGER A LUXURY

We purchased a house with an existing ADT security system. Called customer service for help to disable the chime. After following their instructions to unplug the main power unit and the battery, the alarm was still active, in addition, fire alarm started to go off. They were not willing to help however recommended to start a new service/new account. Basically they will trick you into opening an account vs helping to disable one silly chime sound. We ended up yanking out the keypads ourselves and cutting the main wire. Worst experience ever, slimy business model, lost customers for life.

Over the past few months I have been provided with the worst customer service ever with ADT. They auto-drafted over $400 from my checking account with no notice whatsoever and have passed me around to several different reps over the past few months all who were not helpful and all who told me false information. They still owe me almost $700 back and continue to treat me like I don't matter at all. I have documentation and proof of all this and they continue to tell me they will "see what they can do" and never resolve anything or get me my money back. This poor service has been going on since July. I will never ever ever use them again and will advise everyone I can speak to to stay away from them unless they like their money to be taken from them and withheld without reason, help, or a solution.

What a Terrible company
November 30, 2021

They rope you in with a 3 yr contract in small print and then when you have to cancel in 2yrs, they want that full year all up front? Nope. If I'm being charged for the 3rd year, I'm stretching that payment out for the 3rd year. You will not get it all at once.

Don't waste your time, Use a local company. ADT is awful

Please read my review~ it's useful!

To be honest I am satisfied at the beginning I decided to choose ADT as my home security system back in 2019. Even though I did noticed the camera's resolution is not good, no sound, price is not low, but I was happy when the professionals came to my home and installed the setup.

In summer 2020, I have to change my wifi module because of Xfinity upgrade... then. I found all my ADT cameras cannot be connected... we tried couple of days, multiple methods, contact ADT multiples times... no way to figure out the issue. I am so surprised such a normal change in customer's home can trigger such a big problem for ADT's camera. The only solution is, ADT can send a technician to my home fix it; but need to charge me ~$150 per hour! Of course I won't accept it. And leave the cameras idle and purchased products from another vendor...

Later I want to get rid of the contract with ADT. Again, surprisingly, there is no way I can cancel/ terminate the contract in the system on my own. I cannot do this using the "online" chat. The ONLY way to do that, is to call the customer service... such a crazy company!

When I call them to cancel/ terminate my contract, one of the representative is super, super rude to me. I requested to terminate my contract, he asked me back " why? What's happening?" ( this is exactly what he said). Plus he said " I am trying to help you, if you don't want to talk to me just hang up...

Wow... I am so surprised a company with so-called 150 years history is something like this. I will get rid of it for sure next month, no matter what barrier they give me.

When we bought our house, there was an existing ADT system. The system had failures causing ADT to call us often. This was annoying. After several attempts, ADT was unable to repair the system. David Trax, ADT representative told us that we could cancel and get our money back if we were dissatisfied for any reason. ADT sent out technicians several times to fix the system. It was never fixed. Today, I received a cancellation invoice for $928.66. ADT does not keep its promises. In addition, they never gave me a copy of the contract. Do not use ADT.

I had a dead battery and followed all the steps to replace but it wouldn't work. Called them for a service appointment but it took about 2weeks for anyone to be available to help. Called to close the account and they kept me on hold for extended periods of time, throwing me around from person to person. Eventually this lady tells me I'll be charged more than $1500 in cancelation fee! This is CRAZY. Why would they charge me for services in advance even when I'm canceling? They claim it's on the contract. This is robbery of some sort in the name of ADT "protection"!

Had adt installed in our previous home. From the very beginning the system never worked correctly. Censors kept falling off Dora and windows. They sent a home repair kit but never a technician to fix the issue. Paid the high monthly payments on something we could not use. Contract makes canceling something you don't want to do. Finally took the system out and tossed it in a box. We sold our home and moved. Even after having the system for over a year we were hit with an almost $1000. 00 cancel fee. They would not budge on the price either. For the money there are a lot better and less costly systems on the market. Take it from me. The contract is there because the service isn't

Do not use ADT. They told me one thing and did the opposite. They lied to me. Customer service is a joke, they do what they want to do and try and stroke you if you get upset. Use Vivant they at least do what they say they're going to do.

I lost 20k $ with inventory because ADT thermal heat sensor did not go on while thieves were inside my store. A month ago, They pushed me so much to buy higher service with 3 year contract & I did. I regret that decision deeply. When I needed their service to work, they failed. ADT technician came today and told me ADT did poor job and put delay on front door sensor. That delay gave thieves ample time to break showcases, drawers, cabinet and steal my merchandise. I should be reimburse for my loss.

Terrible service! Reps transfer/dump calls when they don't have an answer or they simply drop off the call. I had set and confirmed an appointment to replace our smoke alarms for the sale of our home. Nobody showed on the date of install and when I called I was continuously transferred and/or dropped off. Horrible hiring, training and accountability issues. DO NOT USE ADT!

In a word, shambolic

They're ‘new' wireless system I believe can be disabled, I was burgled on Saturday and they managed to get passed four sensors! How is that possible? One maybe but not four. ADT refuse to send an engineer to the property to check the system, they tell me the can do that remotely, yet they're unable to reset the system remotely… avoid this company as they simply don't care at their customers.

I was on hold tonight and just gave up in the end.
