  • LL Bean

10/19/17

Ordering from LL Bean is painless because the merchandise is usually well-made, it arrives quickly, and the customer service is fantastic. I've ordered from them for years, and, when I lived on the East coast, shopped at their store many, many times. Every time I have spoken to customer service, I'm dealing with an American, and I appreciate that fact. A solid, old-fashioned, American-style store. Nice.

  • Sumissura

10/19/17

I was terrified to order from Sumissura because I saw some bad reviews about shoddy workmanship and inferior fabrics. But, I thought, what the hell, I'll give it try. I'm picky about clothes because I'm a professional and work long hours, and I need to be comfortable but also neat and professional. Overall, I was pleased with my order. I ordered seven shirts. The fabrics were okay and the fit was very good. They were exactly what I wanted, and I'm not sorry I ordered from them. Now, I've gone to a local tailor and gotten custom shirts made in Hong Kong, and those were super, super nice. But that was because I could pick super premium fabrics from samples at the tailor's shop. The highest price for a "premium" fabric on Sumissura was only about $99 for a shirt. That tells you something. The fabric will be good but not great. (While I'm certain there are exceptions, I follow the general rule that the higher the price, the better the fabric.) Here are my tips to maximize the possibility that you will be happy with your order:
1) Don't lie about your weight.
2) Do your measurements over and over and over again to confirm that they are accurate. If possible, get your measurements taken by a tailor because they know exactly how to measure your body. Remember this phrase: $#*! in/$#*! out. If you don't take the time to get really good measurements to give to Sumissura, then the shirt may not fit properly. Don't rush this part. I agonized over my measurements because I wanted my shirts to be much longer than you can normally buy. I have a long torso, and I HATE shirts that end above my crotch line. I prefer my crotch line covered up, so I need a longer blouse/shirt. I was very pleased with my blouses based on this alone.
3) Pick the absolute BEST fabric available. Sumissura does not have a great selection of fabrics, so your choices are limited. Whatever they offer, just make sure it's the best they have. It looks to me like they have a lot of crappy fabrics in their inventory.
4) Try to avoid using customer service if possible. I wanted a customized French sailor shirt and was willing to pay extra to have it made with a really good fabric, but they didn't understand my request and just kept offering to make the shirt out of fabric they had that I didn't like. It's a Chinese company, so perhaps there was a language barrier? Who knows, but if you need customer service help, I suspect your battle may already be lost.

I believe other reviewers who received merchandise they did not like, so I am not guaranteeing that your experience will be good. This was simply MY experience, and I was surprised at how pleased I was with the order. I will wear the clothes for a few weeks to see how they feel and will update my review with that info. Curious about how they will hold up to laundering/dry cleaning. Those are HUGE issues to me.

Everything arrived on a timely basis and the shirts were very well packaged.

  • Bloomingdale's

11/3/15

It's Bloomingdale's, so the merchandise is pretty darn nice, always authentic, and the customer service is excellent. I've ordered from them many times and pretty much got the items I wanted by the next day. The website, however, is another matter. It's a bloated mess, and I am always irritated by using it. Once, I was doing a search, and I tried to narrow down my selection by picking particular aspects I wanted to see (black, low heel, certain designer), and the website took forever to gather the information and display it. And then it got muddled and the website appeared to stall or get hung up. So, my recommendation is don't ask the website to do too much. Keep it simple, get your merchandise, and then get out!

  • Best Buy

11/3/15

Best Buy is fine if what you are looking for is a mainstream, vanilla item. Don't look for any specialty items. And make sure you want what you are buying because it's irritating to make a return to Best Buy. It seems like the store does everything it can to discourage returns. They charge a re-stocking fee too. Ordering from the website is odd because sometimes it seems like the supplier is NOT actually Best Buy. I ordered a group of items, and one of the items was not from Best Buy (it seemed like it was from some affiliated company), so it took forever to receive it. I still don't understand it, so just be aware of the supplier when you are ordering. Might change the time amount of time it takes for shipping. Otherwise, my orders have all gone fine. Got what I wanted, shipping time was fine, etc. Just follow my golden "Best Buy" rule: make sure you WANT what you are ordering so you can avoid the horror of doing a return. The website itself is amazingly unremarkable for a company that's selling electronics. You would think that they'd spiff it up and make it really great, but it's not. Not to me at least. I'm always surprised at how hard it is to find stuff I want too. Overall pretty unimpressive. But it's certainly a legitimate website with legitimate products, so there's that.

  • Kiwi Drug

9/22/14

I have to say, I was terrified about ordering from an on-line pharmacy, but the three times I have ordered from KiwiDrug, it worked out perfectly all three times. I even got gutsy enough to pay using a direct draft from my bank account, and it went off without a hitch. The beauty of using a bank draft is that you can save 15% off your order. When I had a question, the staff at Kiwi responded promptly, and they were extremely nice as well. I could not have had a nicer experience. They have remained a stable website, their stock remain consistent, and I have continued to use them for almost a year. They have been wonderful, and I have to admit that they have won a permanent customer. I recommend them without hesitation. What a fabulous surprise! Margaret M.

Update: I have now ordered several more time from Kiwi Drugs, and one time thought I actually had a minor problem with my order. Kiwi Drugs responded promptly to my "problem email" issue and resolved it immediately. It turned out to be a very minor problem and mostly one of my own making! Kiwi Drugs obviously strives to provide excellent customer service, and it continues to do so. I am still very, very happy with their service and order from them without hesitation. I use direct bank drafts all the time without worry, and I receive my orders quickly and hassle-free. I just wanted to provide an update that Kiwi Drugs is still dang good and worry free! Go ahead and try it people - you really won't be sorry! Margaret M.

Second Update: It's October 2015, and I have ordered several more times from Kiwi Drug since I wrote the above update about a year ago. Just wanted to add that I continue to get excellent service and products from Kiwi. I remain a loyal customer.

I love Prada purses, but aside from what is available at the department-store websites like Saks 5th Ave and Bergdorf Goodman's, it's hard to find a really good website that shows a big selection of Prada purses. Then I found this website. The merchandise is authentic, and they have a huge selection of designer goods: purses, accessories, shoes, lingerie, men's items, clothing, etc. All by famous designers. What's nice is that it appears that many of the items are not sold in the U.S. market, so you get a much broader selection. I bought two Ferragamo purses from this website, and they were both authentic. Serial numbers and everything. It's high-end stuff, so be prepared to be shocked by the prices. But it's the best "windows shopping" fun you will ever have on the internet! Well, to me, at least.

  • Zappos

3/21/10

Classy website. The merchandise is authentic, customer service is outstanding, return policy is generous. If I need shoes, my first online stop is zappos. Oh, I forgot to mention their biggest asset: they have a fantastic selection of shoes. Sometimes the shoes are off by a season, but not always. Fabulous website!

SCAM! I ordered software, they charged my card immediately, and I never got download instructions. I called my bank, and they will refund me my money, but this was my first unpleasant experience ordering software online. Such a disappointment!

UPDATE: I had to update my comments. They finally responded, and I got to download all the software I ordered! I was horrified that I had been scammed, but I wasn't. They ended up being very nice and even helped with a slight technical issue I was having. So, in short, I revoke all prior negative comments! I will order from them again - and that's saying a lot. These guys are okay.
