A Horror

I wish I could give 0 stars to this disaster of a website. First, they allow people who never even used a business' services to write a "review" based on a phone call or email exchange. Worst of all, they totally messed up my "free listing" by putting information and reviews from another business that I owned but which is now closed due to COVID.

When I called customer service, the woman was nasty and uncooperative. She said I was "yelling" at her because I was trying to explain something over her interruptions. When I restated my problem, she claimed I had "never told" her that. I said yes, I did, but maybe she didn't hear me. She argued that I'd never told her, and when I got fed up and told her to close down my listing, she hung up on me! Great customer service, huh? To top it all off, there's no way to remove your listing once they get their hooks in it. I don't know how this company is allowed to continue -- they are a big scam. I've even heard that they sometimes post bad reviews so you have to pay to have them removed. I can't vouch for that, but honestly, I wouldn't put it past them. Avoid Yelp at all costs!

If there were a zero I'd put that...

The Yelp representative told me I'd be getting a $900 credit for the first 3 months. I ended up paying $972 being with them for only 2 months. I cancelled them immediately and all I had were 2 customers and one review. Google never gave me any credits but they have only ever charged me my capped price of 274. Usually I never go over $230 and I have over 40 reviews and multiple customers from them. I honestly would have stayed with Yelp had they not lied to me and took so much money. I'm just a small business owner. ‍ Below are the proof of statements

Kenneth Pokora from Yelp called me to sell me ads for my business. I agreed to try the package he offered me for $300 a month. Ms. Pokora helped me set up my account and everything was fine. A few weeks later I received a bill for $600 for the package I chose and an additional feature that I "supposedly chose". Attention here this is how Yelp lies to you. They sell you a package, the agent helps you set up your account while he guides you, you think it is part of the registration process, but no! What you are doing is adding things to your account without knowing it and when the bill comes, Booooom! There you know they ripped you off.

Anyway, I emailed Mr. Pokora to let him know what had happened and, as a surprise, he never responded. I contacted customer service, billing, and finance. Oh! Be careful, because none of these departments are here to help or listen to you. They treat you like a liar and even hang up the phone if you try to refute any issues. It seems that Yelp does not have the ability to investigate the performance and ethics of his agents or maybe it is part of his business model, who knows.

It should be noted that I never refused to pay the agreed $300, I only wanted to pay for the committed amount, not for all the extra features that appeared in my account.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. In the end, after many months and a long history, my bank reimbursed me the $600, however, I just found out that Yelp sent me to collection.

Unfortunately, small businesses like mine have to kneel in front of companies like Yelp in order to advertise.

But watch out, this is how Yelp does business, lying and providing the worst customer service experience.

I HIRED FIVE STAR BATH SOLUTIONS FOR REMODEL OF MY BATH AND SHOWER. I WORK WITH JENNIFER TO PLAN MY REMODEL, SHE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS. THEN KOKO SHOW UP ON TIME, WITH MATERIALS AND RIGHT TOOLS TO DO THE JOB, IT TOOK SEVERAL DAYS, KOKO KNEW WHAT TO DO AT EVERY TURN, HE PUT MY MIND AT EASE., A GREAT GUY. Yes in some places this is a good site to:
Build a list to find a place to eat. The truth? It's just data of what meets thier criteria of a local biz. Many 5 star restaurants have one review and are pick #2. Auto repair shops are worse... some guy with a "shop" ( online address generated) with his apt. Buildings address in the rental garage stall. Is rated better than a real auto repair (20 reviews) facility with trained techs.

Poor service

Yelp has broken their business policy and let things that are not in their standards to be done, further more they took money out of my account with out my permission based on a pushy sales man telling me that I had free advertising only to find I was robbed. I really don't understand why they do not up hold these standards and do what any other person off the street would do to you when you would think it was ok to trust them.

Do not take calls from Yelp. They'll discreetly have you "commit" to ads and then will begin charging you money every single week. Not the same charge though. $100 here, $180 the next week. $240 the next. Not to mention, when you leave negative reviews for a business, all that business has to do is complain about it and yelp will remove it. Therefore, their data is not accurate and doesn't actually reflect the opinion on the consumer. YELP SUCKS!

YELP is a SCAM Company! DO NOT trust them! DO NOT advertise with them! They will send you business in the beginning but then will send you FAKE mail and still charge you! If you freeze your account bc your business is affected by Covid they will tell you it's frozen but STILL charge you! Then when you call them on it they'll apologize and give you a "CREDIT" which signs you up (without your knowledge) for MORE advertising! Then when you deactivate your account they will tell you that you have an outstanding balance from this commitment that you were completely unaware of! There is NOTHING honest about this company! EVERYBODY RUN LIKE HELL! And if you don't believe me just look up "YELP SCAM" on YOUTUBE and watch all of the other people speaking out about them! 5 of their own Staff quit the 1st day of training! What does that tell you? What is our world coming to? Seriously are there any companies who have integrity anymore?

I was conned into trying the yelp for businesses, by the marketing department with all the promotions of added leads per month after 2 months I have spent $1200 and I have gotten 0 jobs,
I found out that when a lead prospect clicks on my ad, the system sends that same lead to 5 other businesses, with means that yelp is getting paid 6 times, for my 1 lead that is not cool, they say they are removing competition ads from our page, but then going behind our back to selling that lead another 5 times, the system is not designed for me to win, ONLY YELP WINS

The sales rep was pushy to get me to buy some ads. I told them I would try it for a few weeks and the way they explained their Yelp credits for the first 3 months it would not cost me more than an few hundred dollars a month. In one month I spent over $500 and I called the customer service rep and he said he sorry I misunderstood but I owe the money. DO NOT ADVERTISE WITH YELP!
