O stars
October 9, 2023

If you are a business, and have customers who write reviews, be aware that Yelp's algorithm can remove legitimate customer reviews from your ranking and hide them in a "not recommended" link at the bottom of the page. They won't even tell you they are doing this! Awful company.

We had a bad review posted on our Yelp page that was defamatory and filled with lies designed to hurt our business. It was left by an angry customer that did not get their way and they threw a tantrum and started posting false reviews of our business. Yelp will not remove a defamatory review. We understand we will get a bad review now and then, you can't make everyone happy. But when it comes to defamation and outright lies we do not stand for it. Yelp was very rude to me in trying to resolve this.

We also have 31 five star reviews that they determined were not valid simply because the reviewers did not have enough reviews to be taken seriously. I regret signing up for Yelp and wish there was a way to remove my business from their site.

Yelp is just a bunch of thieves hungry to get your money. They offered my business a coupon for free advertising. So I trust on they for a third time. The Senior Elite Account Director 3, Ryan Grant told me it will be free for a period of time, and he make me enable logo, license, keywords, portfolio, and more PAID features. On the third day of the campaign I already noticed a charge of $83 on my account and never received a call or a feeds from a customer.
Do not adverse on YELP. They just want to get your money. They don't remove reviews from people that never did business with you. Anybody can post a fake review on
Yelp and talk bad about your company and Yelp don't care at all.

Nothing you can do to manage reviews of customers who have never come to your establishment or even had an issue with your business. If someone post something its believed as the truth and it takes a lot of back and forth to get anything done about it. I am done with this company and will never sign up for the app or anything else they have to offer. I hope people join me.

I'm completely satisfied with the full roof replacement of my home performed by JC&C Roofing in February of 2016. Mr. Hernandez provided thorough preparation for the start of repairs and followed through with a timely completion. The JC&C roofing team showed up on time and worked steady and efficient all day. This was a major roof repair and my expectation was somewhat low. Mr. Hernandez put all my concerns to rest providing a step by step outline of all repair work. This was given in written form which I could study as he walked me though it all. I highly recommend JC&C Roofing for home repairs.

Yelp.com in my opinion is a huge waste of money when it comes to advertising. They will make you all kinds of promises to get you to sign that contract. Then, you're pretty much on your own. They'll continue to tell you, " You need to do this" or "You need to do that", News Flash, that's what I'm paying you for. Why pay some company $400+ a month when they want you to do most of the work? All I got was a few people comparing prices. It was a huge waste of money. Also, by the time you figure out it doesn't work and are ready to bail on them, they hit you with that buyout clause in the contract. Another $700+ on top of the money you've already flushed down the toilet. My advice would be to look for an advertising medium that doesn't have a buyout. If they have a buyout, it probably doesn't work anyway and that's how they suck that last few drops of blood outta you. Take my advice, they already got me for a sack full of cash and it's not over yet.

I always use Yelp to find new places to eat. The only gripe I have is that sometimes the info is inaccurate. For example, I contacted them about a bar that had closed months ago and this info is still not reflected today. They also have duplicate listings of restaurants. Those reviews need to be merged.

I like the iphone app. It's very handy when I'm out and about.

Poor Customer Service
February 15, 2021

I placed an order with LTD Commodities, and the item was not what I expected based on the description provided. I asked for a return label for product the CS agent said I would have to pay $7.99 to return a $13.00 item. Thirteen dollars is a small amount but, imagine if they were allowed to keep $13.00 from every customer that received sub standard merchandise. They could easily become millionaires by sending out poor quality merchandise. I did not agree with the CS reps position, so I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was told that there were no supervisors in the building which is also crazy. If CS reps have no authority to make decisions, why would they have employees at work, without supervision. This is my last purchase from this company.

I tried business ads with Yelp. I never got one call or email.

When I tried to cancel, the automatic system did not work right. At that moment it offered me $100 of free ads, but the system did not work. I told them to give me the free ads or cancel my ad, to please call me to discuss. Nobody ever called me, but at the end of the month they charged me around $350 for no results. They have awful customer service. I tried to dispute it with the credit card company, but they took Yelp's side. So I am spending less on Chase credit cards and never doing business with Yelp again.

Yelp is a scam
January 21, 2022

Yelp does not allow businesses to remove their listing so they can pressure other businesses to pay for advertising in competition with all of these "ghost" companies. A large percentage of the businesses on Yelp even no longer exist.
Just a money grab. Check out the thousands of complaints in better business bureau. Stay far away from Yelp.

I am a proud business owner of a great appliance repair company called a+ appliance repair and we advertise over a large internet market that depends on great reviews and this is the part that makes me see yelp very poorly.every search engine and website collects reviews and if you look at our reviews they all make a great logical sense with every other. But yelp is very different and our company has made me every effort to resolve what they are doing wrong and we 100% have got nowhere.they are the only site i have ever seen that accepts bogus reviews for other companies and put them on yours, so of course we started asking customers to post great reviews on yelp and none of them they let actually be posted or they take every good review down because they don't get an account with them, now isn't that shady? Because every review good or bad legally matters, but to them it does not, there excuse is there automatic system determines who stays up.then why does it let bogus reviews for

Rude
February 20, 2019

They call at least two to three times a week! Also email all the time... it's like they can't take no for an answer! They are so rude and pushy and seem to think that a business can't thrive without the help of Yelp! I don't understand how they can still be up and running especially since they have no respect! It is unreal to me that they are allowed to call people and talk to them the way they do! Blows my mind!

It's pretty pathetic how the real places reviews where bad stuff happen and is sold or served or delivered "suddenly they disappear".
I truly wonder what they do. Do they get money? They must. At this point, friends have put bad reviews on businesses and they disappeared.
Well done yelp! You haven't got my trust

They drop reviews for no reason, even reputable good reviews. They are by far WAY more expensive than Bing or Google and they charge for no results. Horrible service, horrible treatment of businesses. Yelp is done - they're circling the drain. Nobody uses them anymore yet they're sadly fighting to hang on.
Goodbye and good riddance.

As a licensed, bonded and insured contractor. Yelp is a TOTAL waste of time, money and resources. We could hire a staff to answer and respond to Yelp Leeds and not show enough revenue to justify the advertising expense. Residential non-clients don't have a budget but, want contractors to give free estimates for driving, measuring, assessing, consulting and writing detailed proposals. Never to hear a response.

I own a hair braiding business & Yelp reached out to promote my business.
On two events now, Yelp has deleted all my 5-star reviews. I asked- did Yelp help promote the business or downgrade my business by deleting honest reviews? Yelp is such a pathetic failure for everyone. They continually fail to refund you even though they are terrible to one enterprise. I am devastated by their actions on my business.

I called Yelp twice in the last two weeks to ask why most of my reviews had been removed? They told me that is done via algorithms. WTH? When I signed up with Yelp they told me not to ask for reviews because they wanted it to be legitimate. I played along and still lost all but 3 reviews. I had been spending over 1,000 a month on my ad. I told them I was not happy and that I was going to pull most of my advertising. They could care less. I guess they think they are too big to fail. Please don't waste big money on yelp people...

Had been using yelp for years. The problem is what everyone else is saying - if it's bad, it tends to end up in the not added into the rating column. If it's good, it's there.
I just deleted all reviews (good and bad) and will never go back there. And, I can say that with confidence.

The catch is this happens in many other places (not here, which is refreshing)... So, we resort to no reviews except on sitejabber?

Overcharged
April 1, 2019

These people mislead me when I signed up, charged me $132 for 11 clicks. Not phone calls, not website visits, for 11 clicks on the Yelp ad. New business owners beware! Called them, spoke to Dominic on 4/1/19. He essentially said "oh well". Don't do it. Bad business.

Yelp ruined all the reviews my husband worked so hard to get. He spent years building his business and pays $500 a month for advertisement help, yelp is absolutely awful, they kept only a few bad reviews and hide all his great reviews. I hate that people pay so much and all they do is filter the hard earned reviews. Yelp you should consider your so called algorithm and look at what you doing with peoples businesses that worked hard to earn reviews they DESERVE! Yet you leave the bad reviews of people that hardly use yelp? Makes no sense.
