I received a catalog from Wintersilks this afternoon, and called this evening to order a man's sweater. I spent at least five minutes confirming my information. Finally I was asked what I wanted to order. The representative could not find the item I wanted. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The call got dropped. I called again, got put through to a supervisor, and explained my problem. She thought she had found the catalog item number "It's a ladies' print T-shirt, right?". Wrong. She spent a long time trying to explain to me why their truly awful systems work the way they do. They don't seem to get that I'm not interested - I simply want to be able to order an item from a catalog that arrived today. And at the very least, if an item has already sold out they should be able to tell me that is the case. Total waste of my time, and I'll never try to order from them again.

I've placed in total 6 orders with this company. 4 of them mysteriously disappeared in my order history of my account for unknown reasons. 2 of the last orders I had there were just horrible and that is when I decided to never ever order from WinterSilks again. At first I tried to post reviews on their website but they were moderated and removed immediately. After 20+ times trying to post my honest review, every one of them was deleted. The customer service pretended like they didn't know why and didn't try to help me to get it posted. I guess WinterSilks only appreciates reviews when it flatters them. So much for democracy and improvement.

Thanks to websites like SiteJabber, I can post my original review of the Lace Cross-over Bra on here that was deleted on WinterSilks over and over again.

Here it goes:

"Subject: false advertising

On WinterSilks website and in their actual catalog it says this bra is 95% Silk and 5% Spandex.

On the actual label of the bra it reads:

Front: 90% Nylon 10% Spandex
Back: 90% Silk 10% Spandex

I have bought 2 on these bras believing they were 95% Silk. I feel deceived, I have returned both bras. What a disappointment."

And of course I had to pay for the return shipping and it wasn't my fault they false advertise their products. So the original shipping was $13.99 plus the return shipping $ 9,99 was deducted from my refund. I wasted my money for the mistakes and false advertising of this company. I feel robbed, ripped off and deceived.

Justice has been served. Thank you SiteJabber.

My wife used to like their clothes and service... Alas, Winter Silks has turned into a low quality warehouse. So, I decided to have myself removed from their catalog mailing list. 12 months later I am still receiving their worthless catalogs despite repeated requests and complaints. I'm guessing their abject refusal to stop sending me landfill has something to do with their eroding customer base. They can now add another customer who will never buy a thing from them again. At the rate they are losing customers... I probably will stop receiving their catalogs soon enough... They will be out of business. Well Done! Winter Silks!

So glad I found this thread. I thought it was only me! Be advised that this company shares more than your name and address; they will also share your credit card. I was charged $30 by a separate company for 2 memberships called WinterSilks VIP -- possibly the result of pop-up advertising in the midst of ordering on line. Next, be advised that quality control has failed; I've ordered from this company for years and suddenly the sizing was ridiculiously off target. I returned the items without even trying them on; it was so obvious. After deducting the handling charges for shipping in both directions, i received a partial refund. So, does anybody know of another source for ladies silk longjohns?

In stock items suddenly become out of stock after order is placed. Backorder items never seem to arrive, saving on shipping charges. New business model needs to go out of business.

Two years ago I did most of my Christmas shopping with WinterSilks and was quite happy, though the turtleneck shirt was a bit more see-through than the catalog would suggest. Just before Christmas 2013 I ordered 3 more items. I knew it was too late for Christmas shipping so wasn't surprised when 2 items arrived at the beginning of January. At the beginning of February I received a back order post card dated January 28 saying they were anticipating shipping the missing long john pants "soon". I have had no further communication from this company. Since after winter is over, silk long johns are not foremost on my mind and I have not pursued this vigorously, but every so often I would send them an email quoting the order number and asking what happened. No reply. In the last inquiry I suggested that they might try for delivery in time for THIS Christmas. Where formerly I seemed to receive catalogs quarterly, at least since this debacle they haven't been trying to solicit more of my business!

After ordering they charged my credit card $1.99 and then said my item was backordered. Then I received an email a few weeks later that it was being shipped and my credit card was charged $14.99. This week I received email that my item was backordered again. So I emailed to tell them they had charged my card and they responded saying the did not charge the card. Now I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company.

Like many other customers, I had previously ordered long silk underwear from Winter Silk, and had been happy with it. I did not order for some time, then I ordered three items a month ago. They were badly cut and of poor quality. I decided to keep a thin black camisole (mostly because I did not want to send everything back), and I returned the rest. I just received my refund and realized that the thin, almost worthless camisole cost me $44.00! Suffice to say, I will never shop at Winter Silk again.

Like others, I'm so disappointed with the response I've gotten (which is zero) when I asked about a product. A mock neck sweater got a run at the neck the first time I wore it (which was well after the 90-day return period). I wrote to ask about a replacement and have gotten zero feedback (they could just have said "too bad" and that would have been OK). I think their quality has dropped and there seems to be a lack of pride on the part of management. There are better sites online to shop (eg. LLBean, Chico's, etc.) and so I will shop in those places.

Since the late 1970s I'd shopped Winter Silk when it was called Silk Collections -- and continued to do so without hesitation until the most recent years.

Winter Silks started using synthetics; workmanship is of a lower quality; and the variety of merchandise has diminished.

Regretfully, I've observed that all poor rating reviews has a measure of accuracy and will trust the comments as affirmations to what I've discerned.

I kept asking myself whether the company has new ownership with new policies.
If so, they need to have a wake-up call, because I am looking for another resource as I am sure that other very well may have considered.

I cannot agree more with all the reviews saying that the quality AND customer service at wintersilks has become HORRIBLE! I shall never order from them again after years of gettting what I needed in a timely manner they will never see my money again!

My past experience with Winter Silks has always been positive. Then... this year. I ordered two items. One was very slow to arrive. With the second I waited... and waited. After 2 months, I received an apology for the delay. Then... nothing. Now, after 4 months - with no interim contact from Winter Silks -- I called and was told that my order had been cancelled. Not by me! And I'm trying to get my money back. Hmmmm.

I have NO idea what happened to Wintersilks as I had ordered from them for YEARS and got fabulous merchandise. Then, I didn't order anything for a couple of years at which point I decided to order more of their long underwear. OMG! It was so tacky and thin and very poorly made! It went right back! I was out the shipping which annoyed me but I thought I might give them another chance a few months later so ordered something else. THAT item was tacky and cheaply made as well! I have a feeling the old Wintersilks sold out to someone else who started ordering out of China or something because nothing fits as it used to and the workmanship of the garments is very poor! Yet... I notice their prices are high as ever! NO THANKS, Wintersilks!

Silk half slips in 3/4 length are knit, so stick to hose and skirts. The hem is trimmed with the same elastic as the waist (how weird is that!). Now consider that they want to charge $49 shipping for a $30 slip. $49 shipping? Really? I am in Canada, not the moon!

I ordered an item on May 26th, listed on the website as "in stock," which I needed for an event on June 8th. When it hadn't shipped by June 3rd, I called and tried to cancel, but was told that the item was "on the truck" and would be there in time.

Needless to say, the item did not arrive in time; in fact, I just received an email yesterday, June 14th, saying it had finally shipped - a full 3 weeks after I ordered it, and a week after the event I needed it for was over. So either the customer service rep (and I use those words advisedly) outright lied to me, or my item sat on a truck for over a week before it shipped.

I will never order from this company again.

My first order to Winter Silks was a pair of flax linen pants in size 10. When I opened the package I noticed how thin and flimsy they were and proceeded to try them on but when they would not pull up over the thighs I knew they were way, way too small. I packed them up, thought the return shipping was too high. Since reading these reviews I have decided not to bother hoping I meet someone tiny who can wear them. Never again Winter Silks.

Bad customer service

Bad customer service. I'm on hold for a long time w a lady with a BAD attitude. They share your information with other companies when you order with them who solicit to you. Also the quality of the silk long underwear set I purchased is mediocre.

I've ordered from Wintersilks many times for many years. I've bought long johns, sweaters, and their silk panties are the only ones I'll wear.

Most of the time, I'm very happy with both the products and service. Occasionally I've had to return an item because it didn't fit. The sizing is off sometimes. I stopped ordering the silk noil sweaters because they pill. I've never had a problem returning an item. I've never had a billing problem.

The apparel, unlike intimates and long johns, changes often. When I find something I like, I buy it. And I get a lot of compliments.

Wintersilks is one of the best kept secrets in apparel. No one is ever wearing what I'm wearing. And there are great bargains as well.
