Good company gone bad, Stay Away! Customer services and quality are horrible and the supervisors are deliberately insulting
After shopping happily with Wintersilks for over 20 years, I am sad to say that the in the last 2 years its quality and customer service are now the worst I have ever seen. Sizing in weird, quality terrible, and over half of my orders have never shown up because supposedly the post office sends them back. Funny thing is that I use fedex smart post all the time and I've never had a problem with any other vendor.
They have NEVER sent out an order confirmation over email after requesting it multiple times and I have never seen a tracking number. I've been told that its "not their fault" and that "our agents can't spend time calling the post office, you should call the post office and find out why they are not delivering the package."
They used to have the best customer service. If you can manage to get to their regular order clerks, they are nice but can't do anything. With one exception that seems to be a hold over from the old Wintersilks, their customer service philosophy seems to be that the customer is an annoyance who should be told that they should pay 3 times for merchandise that never arrives. When merchandise that was supposed to be overnighted (because it had failed to show up twice) didn't show up 5 days later, a supervisor laughed at me and said, "Oh, we don't even get packages out the door in 3 days."
If you dare to complain about the lack of information you will be firmly told that you are "insulting" the customer service agent and hung up on. This has actually happened to me 4 times. By supervisors now less.
Here's the story of my ongoing saga with what will be my final order. I tried to order something from their after Christmas sale and couldn't even get anyone on the line for 3 days. Then, after holding for half an hour, spent nearly an hour with some woman in the Philipines who was trying hard, but hadn't a clue about anything. When I asked her about the difference between two types of fabric, she put me on hold for 10 minutes while clearly googling those phrases and came back with something that made no sense. By the time she was done googling and checking status, all of the items I was interested in were sold out and she didn't know enough about basic sales to check for similar items.
I wasted about an hour during my work day the following business day and finally got through to a supervisor who confirmed that half of my order had been placed and found the other item. That began a saga of merchandise not showing up for a month, calling, being told it had been returned and trying again.
I finally got the item and noted that the quality was much lower than anything I'd ever gotten from them before. It lasted through about a dozen wearings before tearing. It then took over a week to get past their automated assistant to get through to customer service at all. By the way, their only open 9-9 eastern time and they turn the phones off early, so plan to spend all of your work day dealing with them.
After 3 days, I managed to get through to the good supervisor who profusely appologized and said she was overnighting a new version. She said that I should get an email with the order confirmation shortly. Never happened. Instead, after waiting 5 days, I just spent 2 days to get through to anyone at all. Today I wasted 2 hours of my work time trying to get through to the nice supervisor, to be told she "wasn't working that day" when apparently she was there all along. Instead, I got hung up on by one supervisor, then got through to another who informed me that the package had not been sent overnight mail at all and that the USPS had returned it as a wrong address (despite double checking the address with me twice). When I asked her to contact the post office (supposedly they still had it) she said she "tried, but could not get through." The email she said she would send me never showed up and I never received a returned call. The only way I could get a new one was if I gave them more money for a new order. This also happened in the evening when I tried once more thinking I could get through to a good supervisor.
This last order has been a nightmare that is not over yet. I suspect I'll be contacting several state's consumer bureaus, etc. before its over. Its sad to see a good company go bad, but when the owners sell out and whomever is in charge has a business philosophy that quality and the customer don't matter, this is what you get.
